    Went to this today.

    Questions you may have

    1) What is a warbird? A war bird is a plane flown in a war.

    2) What is the event? It's a model RC airplane show that features warbirds. The planes are built exactly to scale (only smaller..). It's the biggest event of its kind on the east coast. These videos are of 2008. I missed the good days but I'm sure this video will speak for itself..

    a bunch of planes

i do too but i tell myself that it's a flying jet and not a football jet. it makes all the difference in the world.

Thanks Steve, I really enjoyed the videos. I've been so busy the past six months, I haven't had time to finish mine. Hopefully, when the weather cools off I'll be able to get my J3 Cub in the air. It has a 62" wing span, powered by a 25 outrunner electric motor. I made a small modification to it by putting 4 1/4" tundra tires on it so I can fly it out of grass fields.

    Anytime.

I've thought about getting something to fly with my dad. He wants to get back into it and wants to buy a small electric powered plane. That way it's relatively inexpensive and you don't have to be insured by the national club (I think AMA?) to fly it nor do you have to be at a flying field.

I just want to spend about 30 bucks buying a real tiny thing that I can fly around with him and maybe use his plane if he'll let me..

He used to have a few back in the day but has stopped building them for a while and only recently has been thinking of getting back into it.

I would love a small model P-38 lightning

    and/or a P40 warhawk

Those are very nice planes. I like the wwii warbirds too.

$30.00 will not get you much Steve.
look this over. http://searchrc.horizonhobby.com/index.jsp?Ntt=micro&N=5049&sid=1227515A100F The one on the right is the Vapor. It can be flown in your living room. I've seen them for sale "used" here http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/ from time to time. Actually, this AD is current. http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/searchResults.cfm?requesttimeout=60

    Here's a video [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdC6warmuL0"]YouTube - Vapor RTF RC airplane[/ame]

You are really ahead of the game if you get into it with your dad. There is nothing like "experience" to shorten the learning curve.

I have right at $1k in my plane and don't have all of the components yet. I need a Li-Po batt. charger and a spare batt. The 4200 ma 11.1v batt. I want is $160. The charger is about the same. I'm trying to "rat hole" $ to finish it, but 34 years of marriage to me has taught my wife a lot of my tricks . I'll possess it when I'm ready though. The "Key" is to allow them to think they rule, while all along you are doing your thing...in righteousness of course. :wink2:

Yeah I know 30ish won't get me too much. That's exactly what I'm hoping for. That little plane in the middle there on the first link would be perfect for me to start. I just want to see if I'd be interested in it enough to get a bigger plane for myself.

Something I can just fly around my room or living room and put it down real quick when I'm done.

All of these planes are (RTF) ready to fly. They are electric powered and come with radio transmitters. I don't believe the one you are interested in (twin engine fighter) would fare to well inside. it might be a wee bit fast for flying in the house.

    I LOVE the WWII Birds!

Gotta check out for a few hours. Got to go to my daughters and hang a dinning room light and hopefully watch the shuttle take off with the grand children. This will be our third attempt to see it this week.

    Later my friend.
