Last night was one of the best free shows I've seen in awhile. The 27-30 score one of the judges gave the main event is a joke. IMO Sanchez one the first 10-8, but Guida had the other two rounds.
that was an amazing main event. i thought sanchez won the fight, but Guida showed his normal unhuman like toughness and heart.
had to Tivo the card saturday, and finally got around to watching it. damn! Clay Guida is unreal. i dont know how anybody could have survived that head kick to keep fighting. and props to Diego; if he wasn't so frickin' weird, he would have alot more respect, and alot of fans too. the guy can fight.
Affliction is done with AA http://mmajunkie.com/news/15290/aff...uts-ties-with-heavyweight-andrei-arlovski.mma I could see UFC picking up for cheap (well, everybody is cheap for ufc) and putting him on a undercard, feed him few cans and then feed AA to somebody like Kongo to make him homeback sooner.
This hasn't actually happened yet, correct? I heard Dana mention it as a possibility but he hasn't actually signed yet.
He is fighting Jorge Santiago aug. 1st on Afflictions "Trilogy" Many people believe that after that show affliction will fold, either way i believe he will be a FA after that and if Dana will really want to get him, im sure he will find a way.
bobby lashley took down bob sapp and beat him 'till he tapped. Was pretty boring. Tito got in the ring, said he will fight again in October, signed a 4 fight deal with strikeforce and will fight "Baba-who?" Those two dont like each other and talk alot of ****. For Tito's sake, he needs to win that fight. He also called out Fedor, saying that he wants to fight him and, you will get a kick out of this, 210 catchweight. "I will put a chrusing on the russian" laughed pretty hard. Tito, why don't you just fight heavyweight bud? You walk around at 225. Thruought his speech he was booed. Overall, Im glad he is back, and if its true that his like 3 fights in ufc he was "no more than 75%" then i will be excited to see Tito back.

Give or take another couple wins like that you may not have to. Dana is a smart man. If he sees this guy will bring him money and can actually fight he'll bring him in.
Lashley still needs to work alot his game tho. He is not ready for the big boys yet. He is no where near what Brock was at the same time in MMA. Lashley looks like he will be dangerous once he gets more training. That and i wanna see vs Kimbo Slice
"wins like that" ?? you mean big freak shows who are famous for their size not ablity, who lay down, and tap from strikes in 3 mins? dude that win was nothing.....sapp is a joke....hes big in japan (no pun) cause of his freakish size.....hes a joke of an mma fighter....lashley needs some real comp. if he wants to just burst through the ufc door.....and if he doesnt.....dana will give him someone.....and he might get caught with a ko...... exactly.....he would kill kimbo imo.....
So the big night is this Saturday. Man, what a card. Predictions: GSP vs Alves - I think if GSP can take Alves down and keep him there, he can probably grind out a decision. If it stays standing long enough, I think Thiago puts him down. My money is on Alves. If he went through Hughes (who's a better wrestler) then I think he has a good chance of doing the same to GSP. I think Alves has a little better striking and a bit more power. Henderson vs Bisping - Like every other big fight on this card, this one is a major coin flip. Henderson has the advantage on the ground. Standing I'd say their close to equal. That being said, I give this one to Bisping (who I really don't like). Reason being, I haven't been impressed with Henderson lately and I just think Bisping's training might put him over the top. Mir vs Lesnar - Wow, how long have I waited for this one? Seems like forever. Lesnar obviously has the size and wrestling to his advantage. But, Mir is one smart mofo and he may be able to expose Lesnar's inexperience again if he has the chance. Question is, will he be able to hang in there long enough to capitalize on a Lesnar mistake? My answer is Yes. I think Mir can avoid Brock's brick hands and play it smart long enough to find an opening and sub him. Really pulling for Mir in this one. Either way, this should be one hell of a card!
Uhm...who did Brock fight before he came to the UFC? exaaactly. Same deal. I do agree he would dominate any one dimensional fighter such as Kimbo.
I think we have to remember that GSP also tore up Hughes, twice, when Hughes was younger and probably better. Alves weighed in 4 pounds heavy for Hughes. Who knows how much bigger he was. GSP is arguably the best wrestler in UFC right now. I'm excited for the fight. I think it's a fantastic matchup. But I will not be surprised if GSP stops him. Really, all three headiners.....it could go either way. Great card, I wish/hope we can see some of the undercard fights. Jon Jones is a guy I'm following. Fitch-Thiago (televised) should be good as well. Can't wait!
brock had the name and drawing power that lashley doesnt.....im not saying lashley wont get a shot in the ufc.....i wish he was on TUF 10.....that would be pretty awesome
He did not fight anybody huge but his skills are still way better than Lashley's. Brock is bigger, stronger, and much btter wrestling background.
Not really. Lashley was a collegiate wrestler as well, and has militairy combat training. Rangers arent pansies. I'm not argueing Brock is probably a much better wrestler I just dont think Bobby should be shrugged off as a fluke. IMO, guys like Brock and Bobby are the future of the heavywieght division.
you guys are both missing the main point.....why he was brought into the ufc........not only is he huge, strong, a beast, a good wrestler.....but he has drawing power.....ppv buys.....he brings in money.....he can be sold to fans.... iam lookin forward to the day where lashley and brock fight......gunna be epic
Via armbar, five years ago. And Alves got TKO'd by Jon Fitch. Three years ago. What's your point? They're both significantly better than they were in those losses.
That's pretty much the case for all of his fights I'd think. Unless he gets drilled with a serious head kick, it's hard to imagine someone standing and trading with him. And living to tell about it. That said, Randy did a pretty decent job with him IIRC (I haven't watched the fight since that night). Getting him against the cage and seemingly nullifying him a bit. He seemed to be ok until he decided to stand in front of Brock for whatever reason.
if you are an mma fan why would you want that? he will be a dominate performer and fun to watch for years to come
I agree. If we're being honest, I root against him every fight simply because he's the favorite. I don't dislike him at all. It's great when a sport has a Goliath. Then you always have a David to root for. Think of the 2007 Super Bowl. The build up. Everything that went into it. Great game in itself, but what the Patriots were made it even better and the outcome have an even greater impact. Hell think of the stretch run that season. Every time someone hung around with NE, it was an EVENT. If you weren't watch in the first half, you were watching late in the 3rd when your buddy called you up all excited. Every week it was, "who is gonna beat them? Can they be beat? Can they get the record?" Every one of Brock Lesnar's three UFC fights has been an event. He broke the PPV record last time, against an undersized 45-year old whose best days are long behind him. A 45-year old 'David'. He's going to shatter the record again on Saturday. You don't have to root for him, but you have to realize that him being at or near the top is GREAT for the sport. People that have never watched a UFC event are going to be watching Saturday night. And hopefully they seen enough good fights on the card to get hooked!
