so how do we help you guys get back on your feet? what kind of home do you need to find? (rent, size, location) and what type of work should we look for you and your husband (industry, wages, location)
It's just so hard because we're still so upside down. Hubby was laid off from his job in April 2007 and just became re-employed in December at half of what he was making at his former position. Hubby is a Network Administrator, but since he couldn't find work in that field, had to take a job as a Maintenance Engineer. Because of the bankruptcy, most of our bills were discharged, but not the most important ones, utilities, etc. We're looking at $1,100 for a 3 bedroom (if we can find it), utilities included, and in the same area so the girls don't have to leave their schools. Hubby's wages were $70,000 at his old job, but he now makes a mere $30,000 at his current job. Because of all the stress of what we've been going through, I haven't been cleared to work yet since my heart attack. I try to do things from home - design websites, etc. - but the work is hard to come by. But thanks for your question. We appreciate the support.
Okay guys and gals - this update is HUGE. I've been trying to get rid of things in my house because it's big for when and if we have no more reprieves. I belong to another forum called freecycle.org and I've been offering things a little at a time through freecycle. Yesterday I posted that I have an abundance of fresh mint in my backyard that I would hate to go to waste and for people to bring their scissors/spades and cut or dig em up. A woman came this morning by the name of Marie. She asked why I was offering all these things through the site and I told her of our situation. Imagine my complete surprise when she said "I have a very close friend who works for President Obama's staff and since you've been so generous offering your things, I'm going home to call her." I just got off the phone with Cheryl (said Obama staff member) who wanted some additional information about the property. She said to hang tight and before the day was out, we would be hearing from either her or President Obama's personal assistant. How do you like them apples?
I love them apples Mary. If they help you, I may even start liking him. I'll be in prayer for you all day...
Thanks Deb. I didn't vote for Obama either, but let's see if he can or will help us. Megs sure mini-campaigned for him in school to the teachers and any grownups she came across.
I wouldn't go that far yet Michael . I did speak to Cheryl today and she told me not to worry about anything.
I'd be shocked if it mattered ... and if it did, it would probably be more along the lines of 'well, I hope you'll reconsider in 4 years' To abate the risk of moving this into the PoFo end of things -- I'll simply chalk this one up to another instance of the lord working in mysterious ways...
Basically, guys, it appears that President Obama's assistant and/or administration is working directly with the bank (Deutsche Bank) to have the bank give us back the house at no cost. We're going to be okay girls and guys and your prayers had a huge hand in that. Thanks so much from the bottoms of our hearts. Any further communication I receive I will post here, but from what Cheryl said "it's all taken care of." BTW - I'm told that when it is finally sorted out, I'm to expect a personal phone call from the President himself to inform us. Probably just for publicity purposes, but Megs can't wait for that to happen. And, as Michael said, to keep this from turning intoPoFo material, thank you again and again for your prayers, emails, pm's and all the support. The Bevans
We reap what we sow, Mary. You plant kindness and you will reap its benefits. I am SO happy for your family. I just knew that a miracle was around the corner! Congrats!! GB
Oh Mary, such wonderful news to hear. I am so thankful for you guys. My prayers will continue for all of you girl.
That's wonderful Mary. Everyone loves a story with a happy ending and you didn't even have to kiss a frog!
Well, folks, I don't know what happened with Obama and Cheryl, but another sheriff came today to tell us we have to be out by July 23rd. Please pray for us that we get another reprieve or something.
It appears that the eviction is proceeding. The sheriff that came yesterday said he has to come lock the doors and we are out of luck come July 23rd - 16 days from today. So, I'm putting my pride in my pocket and asking any member here who knows of anyone renting, selling, housesitting opportunities out there up here in Jersey, please pass that info along to me via email or PM - please folks. I have to keep my family together. Thank you so much.
Dammit Mary, everything was looking so good. Thoughts and prayers headed your way, I am sickened that you had your hopes brought up and then were let down. Completely unfair. This situation is stressful enough without being given false hopes.
Thank you Jimmy. Chris is absolutely devastated and we're terrified of what the future brings. I guess we both just thought that when you do good deeds for others and you are a law abiding citizen, you get rewarded for that. Boy, were we wrong! I truly hope you guys will think of us fondly when you don't see my smiling and gorgeous face here.
This is one crazy roller-coaster you have been living Miss Mary Certainly hope it takes another upwards turn Of course I will continue well wishes and continued prayer your way
Crap Mary. My hopes were soaring for you guys. I can't stand the thought of you not being here, it just breaks my heart. Remember my prayers are always with you, Chris & the girls. I pray someone on here does know of a place for you guys to rent. Come on guys. Between all of us maybe we can think of something to do to help our wonderful Mary. She's always worked so hard here and taken care of us.
It could have something to do with Deutsche Bank going under; if they are in receivership, you could have been affected. I don't know, just speculating. I am praying for you, Mary.
I am truly sad to hear this Mary. My thoughts, prayers, and best wishes are with you and your family always. I wish I could help sister. Try to keep your chin up.
Thanks for all the support everyone. Two weeks from today we may just be living in our car. If you are in or local to Santa Ana, Calilfornia, a sympathy phone call to Deutsche Bank National Trust might help our situation. I just got their number this morning and I'm going to call when they open at 8:00am, California time. I don't want you running up your phone bills but on their website they have a huge social responsibility statement, and, IMO, this is social irresponsibility. The number is 714-247-6000.
I have faith that something will break your way before it comes to that. Don't lose faith. PM me your full name and I'll make a call on your behalf.
