I love hot chicks, they are awsome. But dude. Its a transformers movie, not a 16 year old soap opra.

I mean can you be any more obvious then having the chick bend over a car while trying to figure out what's wrong with it? Wasn't there even a sunset in the background or something?

Is it too much to ask for a mildly intelligent hot chick? With a plot that makes just a little sense?

I thought it was a massive disappointment on pretty much all levels.... Partly because so many people I know loved it and I had high expectations only to go and feel like I was watching sappy teenage love story. Which it was, with some robots thrown in for the heck of it.

    Some Transformers sequel news

We all know the Decepitcon robot DEVASTATOR, a giant robot comprised of several smaller Constructicon robots, is appearing in the Transformers 2 sequel TRANSFORMERS REVENGE OF THE FALLEN.

But, we've just learned that the Autobots have an answer of their own in the form of SUPERION. SUPERION is itself made up of five "aerial robots" working together to form SUPERION.

    Here's his official description,

The mighty union of the five AERIALBOTS, SUPERION thinks of little else besides destroying any DECEPTICONS he encounters, and protecting any innocent bystanders nearby. The robots that combine to form this powerful warrior are experienced teammates, working in tandem to see that the AUTOBOTS emerge victorious from the fire of THE ANCIENT WAR.

If done right, sure. Once upon a time the Batman franchise was a joke that you couldn't possibly take seriously. Lots of pointless action and token hot chicks running around doing things that made no sense at all with a plot line written for 13 year olds.

Look at it now. All it took was a writer director team that decided to make a serious movie instead of a special effects/stunt movie pile of steaming crap.

More robots, less human. The first one was way too human. The robots have so much history and character they can carry the damn film. The only time I want to see humans is when one of the Decepticons is stepping on one.

That said, Mike Bay will **** it up again. He'll make a 90 movie last 120 minutes because of slow motion. Dead spot in the story? Blow something up or show Megan's ***. Need a sub plot? Have some flyovers and toss in a "military subplot" with the American flag waving in the background and mainstream "edgy" music playing.

Anyway...with all that I'm still looking forward to seeing it...LOL!

I may consider myself in the minority, but while I feel The Dark Knight delves in some serious issues, more than say Fantastic Four, I don't quite consider it a serious film any more than Iron Man. And let's not confuse being dark with being serious here. Too many times I see people getting the notion that being a darker film automatically makes it more serious and brooding. TDK's a good movie but I think it's just been vastly over-hyped and while a well-written movie in its own right, is just not enough to be taken as seriously as fanboys want it to. Just my opinion.

I didnt mean serious in terms of actual social importance. Its not a movie that makes us rethink life or brings any real change in the world. I mean serious in terms of being able to watch it and go "wow, this could be up for academy awards".

And I'm not a Dark Knight fanboy, I was actually prepared to not like it but ended up being quite impressed. I just thought it was very well done, unlike Transformers. The difference to me was that transformers seemed to be written to entertain 13 year olds while the Batman movies actually had a serious plot that was somewhat believable...... Even though it was based on a superhero comic book.

Well, the Batman comic books have taken a much more mature turn in comics but Transformers hasn't. It's main core still resides in those 13-year old demographics and it wouldn't make too much business sense to try to change that. And with so many trying to get darker and more graphic, it's a nice change of pace with regards to Transformers (though early clips suggest it's still going to be a little darker than the 1st one).

The dreamwave 1st run was actually pretty serious and delved into far more issues than just cool looking robots fighting.

The run of War Within as well.

But yea, Transformers can only be so "dark" without steering many people away.

Still, Transformers could win academy awards, they would just be visual or audio awards.

Some movies are not made to win awards, and rather just draw sales. I don't understand why Transformers has to be like that (a "serious"one). Was Terminator, or the Star Treks like that?

Updated: Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen robots revealed

Ever since the mechanical jaguar Ravage prowled through the trailer for this summer's sequel, audiences have been wanting more word about the feline-ish Decepticon.

"In the spirit of 'more than meets the eye,' Ravage isn't just lethal because of his sharp teeth," Kurtzman told the newspaper. "There's actually another skill set Ravage has that didn't exist before, so there's going to be a surprise for fans."

Went and saw the 12am showing yesterday and this was what I was expecting as well. Great call. Have to admit though, I still loved it. The one thing that kind of dissappointed me though was
the decepticon that was a girl. I expected it from the moment I saw her but Never heard of anything like that in the Transformer universe. Only was a first gen follower though.

I generally liked it too. I stayed away from all the talk about it but in hindsight I should have looked into which robots were in it before going into the cinema because I was lost as to who was who.

Things I liked and didn't like:
Got to see Sideswipe, which was one of my all time favs, and had to guess it was him. I was disappointed he wasn't a Lamborghini and that he didn't make much of an appearance. None of the robots were introduced by name and so I was making guesses in my head the whole time.

I loved that Ravage came in. They made him look awesome. I had no idea what the satellite robot was. I just looked it up and now I know it was Soundwave. Hopefully Buzzsaw and Rumble make an appearance if there is another movie. There was one little Insecticon which was pretty cool.

Devasator as a monster was dissappointing IMO. Jet Fire as an old geezer was also dissappoining. He should have gotten an upgrade IMO and not die. I didn't like the female decepticon either.

Demolisher as a two wheel thingy was ok. I can understand not every robot had to have 2 arms and 2 legs. Which reminds me, I don't know why Sideswipe didn't have feet.

Anyway, Megan Fox was super hot. The plot was pretty good and had some aspects of the cartoon series. The characters were nicely built on from the first movie.

Just got back from seeing this in the theater ... overall I thought it was a solid outing, though I will likely prefer the first to this effort this time out.

Let's get my quibbles out of the way first. I thought that the tone of the movie was herky-jerky at times, meaning that the film shifted from serious to action to comic suddenly, with no real transitions. It felt like the audience never really got time to process some of the more serious scenes - and then had action or humor shoved in their face. Some of the acting from the humans suffers with this approach - Shia and Megan's scenes border on painful in places.

On the subject of humor, I thought there was way too much comic relief for my tastes. By my count there were a total of 7 comic relief characters - Sam's parents, the Autobot Twins, Sector 7 guy, Sam's roommate, and the Decepticon RC truck. Just way too much attempts at laughs for my tastes. There's also a ton of dick and fart jokes in this movie, and it's generally foul-mouthed - so if you've got kids be forewarned.

I also felt like the pacing was off, as Bay seems to always go for frenetic action. I thought the entire third act - the scenes in Egypt - was so long it could have almost been a movie on it's own. I usually prefer a longer effort on film, but this movie could have shaved 15, probably even 30 to 45 minutes from it's run time and not suffered. For the majority of the third act I kept waiting for the plot point I knew was coming, and thus I wasn't that involved in what was happening on screen.

I absolutely loved the focus on the Decepticons this time out, and I felt like they really got the Starscream (my favorite Decepticon) / Megatron relationship right this time. I also geeked out when I heard Soundwave's voice. After having the Decepticons essentially neutered in the first movie, I was pleased to see them actually given personalities in this film.

If you can't tell, I was also glad to see them make reference to the cartoon series. I felt like I was seeing a reimagining, from one of the key plot points, to the general relationships between the characters. This felt much closer, both in terms of plot and style, to the old cartoon than the first movie.

From a technical standpoint, the robots look amazing, as the increased budget means there's more money to be spent on Giant Robot Action and fight scenes - and for the most part they're incredible eye candy. The soundtrack is general Hans Zimmer nonsense, but it fits the stupid fun action that's up on screen.

Overall, it's the best action movie I've seen in what I'd call a tepid summer for blockbusters thus far. Bay doesn't stray far from the formula - giant robots and huge explosions, with a general mixture of US Military porn thrown in - but it's general a fun time, provided you check your brain at the door and enjoy it for what it is. I can see how this film will turn folks off. It's a bit frenetic, sophomoric, and drags as it reaches it's conclusion. I grant that it's a flawed film in those respects, but it's still enjoyable to watch.

    4 out of 5 stars.
