http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft07/columns/story?columnist=mosley_matt&id=2853129 Interesting tidbit, Matt Mosely of ESPN.com in his blog says the Cowboys wanted Beck last year, but Miami took him before they could. Does this tell us something about how Parcells and/or Ireland felt about Beck? Parcells was already gone by draft day last year, but this might indicate Parcells and Ireland had rated Beck highly on any preliminary draft board work they might have done before Parcells "retired" again. Maybe I'm stretching this a bit, but I find it interesting. CK mentioned Mosely is a close friend of Ireland, they went to Baylor together and are very close, so this has merit.
It doesn't say that Ireland wanted him, so we don't know as of yet if this means anything. We'll see what happens between now and training camp wrt drafting a QB. If we draft a QB in the first three rounds, I think that doesn't bode well for not-so-young John.
other teams wanting him doesn't really make me feel better about him. The only thing that can do that is his play on the field.
These people who say that Beck sucks based on four games...just wow. People who judge Beck on last season should judge the rest of the team also. Of course, if we did that, we'd have almost no one returning from last year's team because they sucked. Beck wasn't great by any means when he played...however, he didn't have much help to look great, either.
It's not a reach, and it doesn't assume anything. How well or poorly John Beck peformed last season has no bearing on what they thought of him going into the 2007 draft. Maybe they've cooled on him, maybe they haven't
