i made no such claims. just debunking your KG excuse. EDIT: to be continued tomorrow if you gotta anything good to add here...
Just went back and read the last couple pages and it wasn't you. It was Phinz who implied Orlando would be the better team if Nelson was healthy. Edit: It certainly is a weak argument but I still believe Boston would be the better team. Don't want to spend any more time playing the what if game.
Actually, this entire thing started over Charles Barkley's comments digging into the magic because they aren't handing Boston their asses without KG. There was no mention at all of the fact that both teams are banged up and missing All-Star caliber talent. All of those players are All-Stars, and when you are missing one who commands your offense every play down the court - it impacts you differently than missing a big man who lives in the paint. Once again, none of this began because of someone claiming that Jameer>KG. So your entire premise is ridiculous and that comparison is pointless. With both teams being banged up - I think the playing field is FAR more level than what some of you are giving credit for. It's really another example of condescending Boston fans who want to smugly make premature & retroactive excuses for their team's play. I'll give credit where it's due, even though I think the final play by Davis wasn't clean - I don't like seeing ticky tack fouls called. It's just one of those things where you want to see games called the same way, and it just never seems to work out that way. Great shot by Davis at the end, Boston outplayed us & out coached us in more minutes of the game. Now we have one hell of a series going between 2 battered, tired teams. I still feel it is extremely disingenuous to act as if these teams aren't on par with eachother, both when healthy and in the current injured status.....But then, Boston fans would have to accept the fact that another team plays to their level, and we all know that the Celtics are legends who lay pristine emeralds during bowel movements.
Bull****, where the **** did I make that claim? Please show me. I think the teams are evenly matched up, and have never said or implied anything else.
I was trying to make the point that KG was more important to the Celtics then Nelson was to the Magic. I guess I somehow screwed that up. I think Orlando is the better overall team right now but when both teams are healthy Boston is the better team in my opinion.
^^^^^Is this or isn't you implying Nelson would have a greater effect for Orlando then KG would Boston?
I was defending his importance to Orlando, and then you turn around and create this out of thin air..... I never implied that anywhere. In the current status I think the injuries pretty much offset because of the advantages/disadvantages of each others front courts/back courts as a result of the injuries. Just because I was listing the huge differences that Jameer brings to Orlando(and what we are missing without him) - does not imply that Orlando is a better team than Boston with KG. It only implys that Orlando is a much better & different team with Jameer. After all, It is the same with Boston-KG and I really wish both teams were healthy so this would be moot. Once again, this started because of another poster referencing what Charles Barkley said in post game which ignored Orlando's injury problems. Dont act as if I was sitting there saying that Jameer Nelson is better than KG.
So much whining in this thread. I root for the magic except when they are playing boston, my favorite team. All the Jameer is out and Garnett is out comparisons are completely irrelevant. Jameer runs the offense and Garnett is the heart of the defense. If you want to compare, although it still doesn;t make sense, imagine the magic with jameer and no howard and the celtics with out garnett. Both are the nba's last 2 dpoy. I still don't see the need to have 2 pages of people trying to make dumb assumptions how each team would be. You must have not watched a Celtics game the last 2 years if you think pierce is more valuable to the team than Garnett. The guy who gets on everyones *** and makes others around him play up, especially on the defense end or the guy tony allen carried to a wheelchair only to return 5 minutes later in the game. Point guards and big men are the 2 most important positions. Garnett brings a low post presence as well as the ability to hit the mid range of the pick and roll (although big "moving pick" baby has been hitting them all series too. It sucks that these teams are playing now because they are my two favorite but what can you do. Magic fans, if you want to get mad at anyone, its Stan the Man and your 3 point shooting. He is the one who yelled at Sweet Lou and Dwight to show on Big Baby. I dont know if you saw that video too. The Magic are quickly turning into Duke. They look great if they are hitting the 3's and strong in the transition game but when things are slowed down, their halfcourt offense has looked terrible. Live by the 3, die by the 3. Also, did van gundy not watch any tape of the chicago series. Beating the celtics right now is so simple, just get perkins in foul trouble and on the bench. Who are they going to put in, Mikki Moore? Jackie Moon? It just blows my mind to see dwight constantly taking fallaway hook shots instead of going at perkins and getting him out of the game. Anyway. There was no push off on the shot. Be for real and calm down. Its not Jordan on Russel. Its game 4 of the conference semifinals. Both teams have a long way to go. Look on the bright side. At least were not Lakers fans. Actually I was wrong, he pushed off the kid in the white.
I dont know what game you were watching, but Davis was getting away with murder and should have been fouled out by the 3rd quarter. Dwight can't force the refs to blow the whistle. With the way the officiating was last night, it makes me think the NBA is purposely trying to force a 7 game series. In a game decided by one point at the final buzzer, the refs inablilty to do their jobs was easily the deciding factor. About Davis' reaction after making the shot....the dude shoves people out of his way so he can run down the court screaming "yo momma" at the Magic fans near their bench. He doesnt even stop to accept the praise of his own coach. If i was in the front row and he ran across the court to talk trash to me after that shot, I would have been the first guy on the court to knock him out cold. Let his *** wake up on the plane back to Boston.
"At least we're not Lakers fans", lol.....Sorry dude, losing to Boston is the same as my Phins losing to the Patriots. It sucks both ways.
Pop quiz.... You just made a game winning shot to give your team a chance at winning their playoff series.....what do you do next? A.) Thank Jesus B.) Mob your teammates in a wild moshpit of celebration C.) Bearhug your coach D.) Shove people out of your way and sprint across the floor to insult the mothers of the opposing teams fans. ( on mothers day to boot)
I was talking about the lakers yesterday, having your team losing by 29 to a team without mcgrady and yao. Also gish, grow up. How do you think you would really fare in a fight vs davis. That would be some good television.
The Celtics suck as do trolls coming into our thread running smack. You don't like our coach, team or our perception of things then F off.
Huge game tonight (they're all huge). Magic are one of the best road teams in the league. They're 3-2 on the road during this postseason, including one win without Dwight Howard. Go Magic!
If our guys can play as well as they did in Boston the first game, and hold the lead, then we should have no problem. We've got a good road team and good backups. 8pm on TNT, it's on.
If you are referring to me I said i also like the magic. I wear my nick anderson jersey to every game I go to. Stan the Man is a solid coach just made a bad call at the end of the game. What I was saying is that if paul pierce is going to get a shot off over the best shot blocker in the game Dwight, who was on him, what is Rashard going to do? Its pointless to send him for a double team and he should've been left davis who had hit the go ahead jumper before. Sweet Lou has about an inch on davis and I think he complicates the shot enough to have this series 3-1. That simple. Chill.
No worries buddy, you're just in a diehard Orlando Magic thread. Hope it's a good game tonight man, I bet it will be after Sunday. Stan's a good coach, and owned up to his play calling after the last game, we'll see how it goes tonight. Here's to a good series.
The Mission is to withold a championship from Lebron. Can you guys handle it? I hope so. Between the Patriot love and the Lebron suck fest...espn will be completely unwatchable.
Stan is a great coach and the Magic are damn fortunate to have him. Here's to a great game and win tonight.
I'd rather endure the LeBron suckfest than have to go through another season like last year. The media handed the Celtics the championship a month before the playoffs started. It became a self-fulfilling prophecy. How many times did they interview the "big 3" and talk to them about what it meant to them to win a championship? All while they almost got eliminated by the #8 seed in round 1. Yet the Celtic media frenzy continued to proclaim them the predetermined champs. It made me sick when they actually won it all. It just reinforces the media's methods of poor journalism.
Let's hope for a good shooting night with excellent ball movement. Let's play some Magicball!!! When the Magic play their game, Dwight automatically gets open looks. They need to not force it to Dwight and just play their game. 13 minutes till tipoff. This game is going to be intense to the wire. I want a piece of LeBron so bad. He beat my high school twice in the state finals. Getting to see my Magic face off with him in the Eastern Finals would be mother effing sweet.
Magic responded pretty well after taking the early timeout. Now Boston takes a timeout. I didn't want to see a game where the Magic were playing from behind the entire time. It looks like both teams are playing the same tempo right now, with a slight edge to the Celtics for running the floor better after a rebound.
We need to keep going through Rashard & clean up with easy baskets with Howard when they over commit. -Pietrus is ****ing killing me. He is not a shooter. On top of that, he is actually good at taking it strong to the basket, yet he is constantly firing away from beyond the arc.
See, when the ball keeps moving, Howard get easy dunks. The Celtics are good at stopping Dwight while he's backing down on the dribble. Good job so far by Orlando of being patient.
37 points for Boston is horrible. And thats with House getting 5 off the bench. I expect them to shoot much better in the 2nd half. It's probably gonna take 97 to win this one.
Let's it keep it going guys one half to go. Got it done in the first half, can get it done in the 2nd. Let's do it
I'll be surprised to see Boston win. They can't make a run reminds of a playoff game they had against Cleveland last playoffs.
