It's the pens man, they are just as likely to lose 4-0 and then win the next 2 games.

And naah, this is Ovetchkin's year, he looks like the Natural on skates pagan.

    Killer loss for Vancouver tonight

Late goal to tie then quick death on OT

Go Blackhawks (they have the most Winnipegers on their team)

I'd be 100% in favor of a move "if" the team is still supported wherever they move.

After all, if the Nordiques can become the Avalanche', surely the Coyotes could become the "Gretzsky's" if they move back to Winnipeg...

I'm sort of pulling for the Canucks, it's been a long time since a Canadian team won the Cup...but if they go up against my Canes all bets are off..

    Oh please! And Crosby doesn't?

Ovechkin is the Allen Iverson of hockey. Take enough shots and you'll score. He has 200 more shots on the year than his next closest teammate.

    Chucker.

The best part of it all is Gary Bettman is in court fighting tooth and ****ing nail to keep the Coyotes in Pheonix. When the Nordiques and Jets were having issues he stood by and watched and at the first opportunity he yanked the teams out of there and moved them to American cities.

Bettman is a piece of ****. I'm FULLY convinced if he had his way no Canadian city would have a team. All the evidence points to that conclusion. This Coyotes things is hilarious.

You have a guy (Balsillie) who is a multi-billionaire who LOVES hockey. He wants to move the team to Southern Ontario into a market that would guarantee 41 sellouts at premium prices. Forbes magazine did an article a few months ago that stated that if the NHL added a 2nd team in Toronto or in the Southern Ontario region they would be the 5th most valuable franchise in the NHL before they played a game. It is a goldmine for the NHL.

Instead, Bettman is at war to keep them in a market where they have lost $200 million since they moved there and can't fill the building even when they offer tickets for dirt cheap. The Coyotes are routinely the first ones at the trough for revenue sharing money. They've been run by the league for the last 4 months because they could not cover their bills. They have already spent NEXT YEARS television money because they needed it to cover payroll. It's a ****ing joke.

Remember though, Bettman has fought this fight with Balsillie before. He wanted to buy the Predators and move them to Hamilton but Bettman killed that deal. Instead, the owner of the Predators sold the team (for $100 million less) to Boots Delbaggio. How did that work out? It turns out that good old "Boots" got the down payment fraudulently and is under indictment from the Fed for fraudulent loans he took to buy the team. He also went bankrupt shortly after "purchasing" the team. Oh, in another twist to the story, Delbaggio borrowed $17 million dollars to buy the Predators from Craig Leipold. Craig Leipold WAS THE GUY WHO OWNED THE PREDATORS AT THE TIME!

What did Gary Bettman have to give Craig Leipold to convince him to sell his team for $100 million less then he could have? That is unknown. BTW....Craig Leipold owns the Wild now.

This is Gary's world though. In his World it is better to have a team in a market that has no hope of succeeding, where it loses money by the bucket full. It's also a good idea to have another team in a very mediocre market and have a guy buy it who is BROKE! This is all a lot better than having a team owned by a man who is a billionaire 5 times over and loves the sport....because if that guy who loves the game and is filthy rich owned the club he might move it to Canada, ripping it out of another one of Gary's failed markets....just like Florida and Atlanta.

BTW...I have a lot of passion for this topic. I believe that Gary Bettman is the worst commissioner in the history of professional sports. He has ruined this league in some ways. I will relish the day that he slinks out of office and someone who actually likes the game AND can admit mistakes is in charge.

It's funny, they also have a TON of guys that were born in British Columbia. I think the Blackhawks are the most "Canadian" of all the teams left (the Ducks have to be close).

The Canucks have 15 Canadians, 1 Slovak, 1 Dane, 1 American, 5 Swedes, and 2 Finns.

Pens are just flat out beating the Caps in every aspect of the game right now. Something tells mwe the series has shifted.

    :D

PS - Crosby is showing why he's the best in the league. Alex Overratedkin was a non-factor for the second game in a row.

    My Bruins are done.

I am not going to comment on the officiating because it was abysmal in game 4.

The 'Canes simply have more want. None of the Bruins scorers have made an appearance. Their forecheck has been terrible. They are not moving their feet. their defense has not moved the puck out of the zone....it's all bad.

They had a good regular season, they are ahead of the learning curve, being a young team but this series has shown their weaknesses. They BADLY need a puckmoving D-man, it might be Matt Hunwick but I'd like to see a "powerplay quarterback" type brought in. They also need a lot more speed on the backend. They need a big bodied centerman and a little more speed up front.

Well, to me the Bruins puck movement looked decent enough early, and the game was 1-1 for two periods, but I think the Bruins were worn out in the third qtr, they worked Chara to hard tonight.

    Up 3-1...I'll take it.

Um....no. Taking shots when you're OPEN is the name of the game. Playing as a TEAM is the name of the game. Ovie does neither.

He gets the puck and flings it to the net.

Case in point, during the regular season Overratedkin took 528 shots and scored 56 goals for a shot % of 10.6. Crosby took 238 shots and scored 33, for a shot % of 13.9.

The closest anyone else in the LEAGUE came to his shot total was Eric Staal with 372, and HIS shot % was 10.8, better than Ovechkin.

The closest TEAMMATE to him in shots was Mike Green with 243...almost THREE HUNDRED LESS. And HIS shot % was 12.8.

In fact, Ovie isn't even the best shooter on his team, ranking SIXTH in shot %, and 155th in the league.

Proof positive, chuck enough pucks at the net, you'll get enough goals and people will think you're better than you really are.

Padre...brother...all due respect but what games have you been watching? The Pens have been taking it to them for the past two games. Even a Caps fan that I banter with online said that. They've been the better team in games 3 and 4.

And they didn't blow a 2 goal lead. They were up two, the Caps got one back, then they went up two again.

Please, explain to me how that's blowing a lead???

They were alright for the first part of the game but Jussi Jokinen decided to try out for the Finnish diving team after a love tap from Krejci, giving the 'Canes a powerplay, which they scored on waking up the crowd and giving them momentum.

The Bruins played their worst period of the season tonight in the 3rd period.

They are not matching the 'Canes speed and want. The 'Canes are attacking. Even when they have a lead they are sending at least 2 forecheckers in and the Bruins defense is not equipped to handle that pressure. This happens when you have guys like Aaron Ward, Steve Montador, Shane Hnidy and Zdeno Chara on the backend....they can't move the puck quickly. Chara is a lot of things, a good puck mover is not one of them

The Bruins need to get away from the "matchup" of having Chara on the ice with Staal. They did not play the matchup game at all in the regular season. Besides, the match up is not working. Staal has not been "special", he's getting all his points on the powerplay. all the matching up has done is cause late/confused line changes (which have led to odd man rushes) and it takes players out of the flow of the game.

I'm excessively pissed off right now.

The pens were up 3-1 on the Caps most of the game, it was dull enough (little checking, lost pucks, poor shots) I just watched the Hurricanes.

I flipped back over and it was 4-3, nice Defense there pens...

To me, the Bruins could not push the puck up ice with authority, they pass, pass, pass, but never just dump the puck in the corner, crash the net and try and shovel the puck into the goal, if the shot is not perfect, they aren't going to score.

I'm somewhat pleased actually, the 'Canes are getting production and they are beginning to play defense a bit better, but they turn the puck over in their own zone a bit too much it's good that Cam Ward is living a charmed life because they are making it hard on him.

    Hilarious...."nice defense there pens".

They win 5-3, but no comment on the Caps defense.

I think you're just scared that the Pens will steamroll your Canes into the offseason.

And um...just to correct you, the Caps made it 3-2 with 5 minutes left in the 2nd. That's barely past halfway...so "most of the game" really doesn't make sense now, does it?

Stick to watching your Cames for now bro...you'll get to see plenty of the Pens soon enough. :wink2:

Well, I'm not counting the Bruins out yet, and the Caps were down to the Rangers and came back, but what the heck, Crosby will scare them into submission...

"barely passed halfway" oh, that's rich, it was 4-3 with 9 minutes to go..

Bro...now again, all due respect, but either you have no idea what you're talking about or you're not watching the Pens games at all.

Their forechecking is what's making then win right now. Even the announcers tonight were saying they were like a swarm of bees.

Dude...really, you're embarrassing yourself. Watch the games, then come talk to me. :tongue2:

Okay, so you took out the forechecking comment and replaced it with this. You're mebarrassing yourself even more.

YOU said - and I quote:
I replied by saying that the Caps made it 3-2 after they barely passed the halfway point.

Now you bring up 4-3. Where does that fit into your first comment and my reply?

    Bro...seriously...you're reaching here.

Like I said, stick to your Canes for now.

Funny, I edited it out, I can understand you hanging on every word of my hockey brilliance, but do allow me to edit my own work...it's better for us both that way....:tongue2:

Seriously though, it was a sloppy game, I like more physical, competent hockey over the sort of shoot out hockey, just my own taste in the game.

I see you edited my edit, and I stand by the pens being up 3-1, then it was 4-3 with 9 minutes to go, that's when I knew they are playing junior league hockey in that series...:)

Both team suck Pagan, seriously I witnessed a Pen score on a 40 foot slapshot, the goalie never flinched...if or when the Pens meet the 'Canes they will have a much tougher time of things I think.

There was no forechcking, there was no crashing the boards. there was no dump and chase...just open ice to skate through, the Caps and Pens should turn in their defense cards.

Sweet Pagan, I hope the pens meet the Hurricanes..

He was teh cockiest, deuchest person ive met. Honestly. He refused to sign an autograph to somebody because they said he is good, but not as good as ovie or something. It was said in a playing matter, but the guy made a huge deal about it The kid was like 12 and Ovie was his fav player. Ridiculous.

Great hockey and hopefully Chicago can close it out

I don't think the 'Canes were bad, I just think the Bruins were that good tonight. Totally dominating them physically. The 'Canes lost some composure at the end of the game, especially Scott "I can only fight old men who are not protecting themselves because whenever I fight someone worthy I get knocked out and miss 2 months" Walker. Aaron Ward likely has a broken orbital bone from Walker's sucker punch.

Chara was a beast tonight. When he plays like that he is a dominant force. This is the team I've been waiting to see. Best hockey they have played in a month.

Game 6 will be very interesting. Jussi "the flopper" Jokinen better have his head on a swivel because Chara's gonna get him eventually for that slash behind the play.

No worries on the Canada thing, I'm sure you know that. Look at who was there for us. There were 3 guys there that will be on the roster in 2010 (Heatley, St. Louis, Weber) and a couple (Roy and Doughty) who are on the bubble. For the love of god, our goaltender was Dwayne Roloson!

If we lose with our top guys out there (with the best goaltending and the best defense in the World) I'll be pissed.

They also have nothing on the back end. Canada could throw 5-6 pairs of defenseman on a team before we get to a single Russian. Hell, I'd argue there is not a single Russian D-man that ranks in the top 20 and their goaltending is not much better.

The Russians are going to need all that offense because they will be giving up 5 a game.
