    ...Don't mess with the Taurons...

A friend "got" it for me the other day. It was the DVD version. For those unaware, It is unrated....for a reason.

    Titties!

The Taurons seem a blend of Earth Jews and Italians.

i just read this entire thread and a blog linked by nabo. i just pounded everything in a month. from the mini-series and dvd's to season 4.5 on itunes. the show was incredible. i cant wait to crack open my caprica dvd, and have that show commence, hopefully in 2010. so here's a few points and questions.

Admiral Bill Adama is one of my favorite characters ever. and all the scenes that were emotional for me contained him, and the father son relationship. he looks EXACTLY like my old man, and sometimes doesn't act a whole lot differently.

my 2 favorite, most touching moments in the whole series:

The episode when Starbuck steals the Raider, at the end-
Apollo: I need to know something: Why did you do this? Why did we do this? Is it for Kara? For Zak? For what?
Adama: Kara was family. You do whatever you have to do. Sometimes you break the rules.
Apollo: And if it was me down there instead?
Adama: You don't have to ask that.
    Apollo: Are you sure?
Adama: If it were you... we'd never leave.

that and this bit of dialogue from exodus 1(from new caprica)-

    Before Lee Adama departs Galactica:
Admiral William Adama: I'll see you at the rendezvous point.
Commander Lee Adama: Eighteen hours. Try not to be late.
William Adama: I'm getting old; I'm a little slow, but I'll be there.
Lee Adama: Gods, I wish I could talk you out of this...
William Adama: You can't. You tried.
Lee Adama: You know, Dad, um...
William Adama: Don't. Don't make me cry on my own hangar deck.

outside of sharing these moments, i too had some issue with starbucks end. she obviously wasnt the harbinger of death. was she? was it a simple, neo/matrix style, i dont believe in fate? and then boom, she isnt the beacon of humanities end all of a sudden? and is she a damn pigeon? whats with the disappearing act? why didnt she pull that quick get-away stunt on new caprica? is she human, is she an angel that finally discovered herself? gimme something here.

you could tell, this show wanted to close some chapters clearly, unlike the sopranos, so im fishing here, im trying to spell it out. i know thats not cool, but i dont care.

and whats with the baltar and #6 angels hanging out here on earth in modern times. is that a religious thing? the show is saying there is a god and angels, and well, here are two of em. i thought baltar was supposed to be bad, i guess just in the old 70s series he was. this baltar was rather gray. great character.

and i was not a fan of Admiral Adamas good-bye. no good bye to col. tigh(who was a friggin awesome character). just a quick hug for lee and starbuck, and then he just flew off to rough it. screw that, i aint roughen it by my lonesome with lions and ****! i was looking for a little more there.

and the final 5? i mean, they're basically human then? cylons came full circle and became human? and then they cheated mortality? maybe god didnt like that so much. but by the end, it did seem that cylons and humans were basically the same, even physiologically speaking, for the most part. that story is still a little murky to me. i mean, the final 5 have been around for 3500 years, and things have been just going round and round in circles the whole time? i mean, thats not that long of a time to have so many repeats. how many times can you waste a planet? just once right? so howd it all happen before? and how can it happen again?

but overall a great ending. i like the way that the nuked earth, wasnt our earth. and though they have a lot of questions on the table regarding god and angels and even starbuck. and daniel. was it really so simple, just a quick mention and then close the chapter on him? perhaps we'll see more of daniel in the caprica series. perhaps caprica will answer a lot of questions. but i love the guy who screams "RICHIEEEEEEEEEEEEE" at the end of La Bamba, so caprica should be solid. oh right, im trying to close this long *** post up.

thoughts? i share in all your sadness. this show was a short ride for me, but astounding.

Caprica was very interesting, however i thought it'd be 3 hours, like a mini-series. not 90 minutes :(

I really liked it but I'm holding judgment. It's tough because BSG is the best TV show ever so comparing the two is unfair.

While looking for info on the upcoming movie I found the following . It explains a lot about all the different "Sixes" and the various roles they played throughout the series.

Esai Morales is an inspired choice to depict Joseph Adama.

I think my favorite episodes of NYPD Blue were those in which he served as Squad Lieutenant.

    The Plan.

    Anyone else seen it yet?

Interesting, the way it sort of "fills in the blanks," in some ways. Also kind of annoying because there are blanks I'd rather not have had filled in.

Also for showing just how much of a miserable bastard Cavill really was; which is to say, a lot more than even we thought. Very Dick Cheney-ish.

saw it a few weeks ago... i kinda agree that it didnt broaden the series at all. The **** in the strip club were welcome though.

It gave me a much needed BSG fix though

    And the locker room.

    Yeah, can't wait for Caprica.

Also, apparently the feature film Bryan Singer is directing is going to be based off the original series, not the reboot. Which is incredibly stupid IMO.

If Katee Sackhoff isn't in it, I'm not interested.
