Not surprising, really. They needed a 3rd QB, Beck was available, Cam drafted him, boom. Natural fit. Good luck to him-it'll be tough to crack the lineup with Flacco and Troy Smith firmly entrenched.

If Beck ends up in Baltimore does this say something about his character? With Flacco set as the starter and Smith as a backup, does this mean Beck is satisfied with sitting in a 3rd string position? Just a thought...

I think it means he wants a paycheck and is taking the best deal out there right now.

Not sure if what kind of deal(s) he is fielding, but if this is the best then I hope he's satisfied.

No real surprise here. Reunited with Cam... what a touching story.
Hope it works out for Beck, I kind of wish he wasnt going to a situation where he's going to be a 3rd stringer, Id like to have seen him at least get a gig as a backup somewhere, would be nice to see him get a shot to get on the field at least.

Low risk, high return for the ravens, if Beck doesn't play, nothing lost, if he manages to play and does well and they develop him, they could snake a draft pick out of someone down the road for him.

Cam Cameron was a horrible HC, but he can develop a Qb, and Beck's tools have not went away, we just didn't think he was a good fit.

I would have went to San Fran or Minnesota, but this move makes sense, too.

QB's go down in games & someone else gets a chance to shine (Patriots, last year)
happens every season: #2 becomes #1
I'm happy for him. He's a good QB & has everything he needs to succeed in the NFL.
I'm sure we'll hear from him again, he's getting his first legitimate chance with Baltimore.

Not at all, unless you can name somewhere I can't think of where they'd name him the starter going in. Based on what he has done so far this is the smartest move for him.

I have a feeling that he might not even stick there. Drew Willy the QB from UBuffalo is trying out there and honestly deserved to be drafted. I think he will surprise some people in preseason and beat Beck out for the spot just because he is younger. No surprise that he goes to Baltimore, Cam is in love with him.

i personally saw him going to cincy as palmer is coming back from an injury and as far as i know thats all they really have. he couldve walked in a #2 and had a good shot at playing time during preseason and a opportunity to step in if palmer gets hurt again.

He's good? based on what? Not to beat the dead horse here, but we haven't seen him succeed at all in practice, preseason games, or regular season games since he's been in the NFL.

And how is he getting his first legitimate chance with Baltimore? He'll be a 3rd string QB. The chances of him seeing the field are very small in a regular season game.

We just have to face the fact that John Beck was never going to amount to anything more than a backup in this league. If Minnesota, Cincy, or SF were even interested, then Beck would be there.

I didn't mean that he'd be automatically named the starter. But atleas a team where he'd have a fighting chance. San Fran and Minnesota were mentioned.

Good luck John. All the best to you (except when you play Miami).

All the best to you Johnny, you're a class act and I hope you get a chance to show your stuff. You truly deserve to have good things happen to you, remember its not where you start it how far you go that counts. Some of the best to ever play the game were handed the same hand you've been dealt and they overcame it, so can you.:up:

He's got a job that pays well in a down economy. If he went someplace else where QBs are weak, he could lose his job permanently.

Back-up QB salaries aren't all that bad.

Maybe he'll work himself into a future coaching position by learning from a QB coach.

Hey, I'd be a thrid string quaterback anyday. You stil make good money regardless.

Wish best of luck to John Beck. You never know, he may beat out Troy Smith, become the number 2 quaterback, and finally get his chance to play on a good team if Flacco goes down.

The guy was so full of class, that anyone who talks bad about him personally obviously lacks it.

If anyone listens to Paul and Young Ron in the morning (Big 105.9), he was a regular caller there and would play a game called "Harry-oke".

No stable franchise QB's on either roster, and I think the OC in San Francisco liked Beck as a prospect.
