F that POS scumbag!!! I've never, ever cheered for a guy to get hurt, but this would be the first. If that POS does come back into this great league, I would hope that somebody would just break him in half. I would stand up and clap as hard as I could. F that POS!!!!!
Mike Vick is a cat who can help us make the Wildcat go, objectively, he would be perfect for it. I've yet to read a single opinion that he would not be good at running the WC, I've read a ton of "blah blah blah" yet not a word why Vick couldn't run the wildcat.
sure he can run the WC well, but what good does that do us when he will probably be back in jail by week 3? plus we don't need the media hype!
ok Padre, First of all, just because mike vick is the best running qb does'nt necessariliy mean he will be great at executing the wildcat, think about what makes ronnie so special at this offense?..Its his ability to take the snap, read the defense with his eyes, and make decisions with the football in his hands as to where to go, and whos gonna get it..all in a split second. Now iam not sayin mike cant do that, hes so very talented, but it think there might be a little different skillset involved in this offense, other then just amazing escapability talent, it takes more of an intelligent attack mode mentality in running the wildcat.. I feel like mikes talent is more of an instinctive reaction from being chased, and pat whites is more downhill and attacking..{maybe iam reachin here} All that bein said, iam really just tryin to play devils advocate, because i would'nt bet against the talent of a mike vick. but this thought did cross my mind.. what also crossed my mind is that i dont think hes ever run it, and in no way would i trade his talent for the overall package of our new boy Patty white. If he didnt kill dogs i would be screaming for him to be here, i just dont think i could root for the guy on my team...its a shame.
Do not like the idea as Pat White is the only QB we need for the Wildcat. We only use it less than 10 times a game so it would not make sense carrying another QB for the percentage we use the Wildcat formation. Another reason is that Vick was a mediocre QB. Poor accuracy, timing and injury prone means he is not a player I would like to relie on or want on the roster. As for his past, it would not bother me in the slightest as long as he is remorsefull and makes an effort to do some work in the community to restore his name. We all make mistakes, so bigger than the other, but the only person that has to live with those mistakes is Vick. After seeing what it has cost him and how it has ruined his character in the eyes of the public, I'm sure he regrets what he did. But I do hope he regrets the acts and not the consequences that followed from his actions.
A: It would be a publicity nightmare for Ross. B: It would have a very, very high risk factor. C: The only balls Vick has been throwing for two years is (I won't go there) D: The guy has NO, and I mean NO, brain cells. E: Its very hard to be away from a sport for two plus years and be the same player when you come back, especially with the scrutiny he will be under. Pat White will be a great weapon along with what we know Ronnie can do. Why even think about going through that nightmare of having to babysit Vick. So I will say it, Vick? Hell NO
Living here in Atlanta, I can offer a slightly different perspective on Vick, and mind you Im far from a forgiving individual when it comes to character.Ive known many of you for years - for as long as there have been Dolphin boards on the internet - so I hope this doesnt come across as insensitive or Machiavellian. A lot of people here feel that Vick has been villified by the press to the point where fans and teams alike simply refuse to give him a second chance. The argument is that hes paid his dues - he has served time in prison, lost most if not all of his estate and has a irrevocably damaged national reputation. Now its one thing to do a repulsive act and walk away without punishment, but thats not the case with Vick. I feel comfortable saying, although it may be politically incorrect in todays' media-dominated world, that Vick has been amply punished for his heinous crimes. Like anyone that has gone through such a punishment and rehabilitation process, he deserves a second chance. And for the record, per the OP's original post, Vick would be the ULTIMATE wildcat threat. I just wish some FO executive would be brave enough to stand up to the media scrutiny and give him a shot. The man has been punished and has now paid his debt to society for the crimes he committed. For goodness sake, Travis Henry and Chris Henry and Rey Lewis and Tank Williams and countless others have been given second and even third chances. Why is Vick's situation different?
Not with a turd like that on this team...Sometimes in life you have to take a stand on whats right and whats wrong and having Vick is wrong to such a degree that I would get sick if he ever became a Miami Dolphin
Yep, and what is really funny is, the ones who are so against Mike Vick overlook some of the really low down stuff Joey Porter has done... Because Porter produced what he was supposed to produce.
I'm not one who thinks that Vick should never play again. I think he should. I think he paid his debt, and I have no problem with him playing again. I just don't think he is a good fit for the Dolphins. I don't think they need to bring another guy in, simply for what he can do in the Wildcat.
I thought I gave you my opinion that I'm not convinced that he is the same athlete he was in the past. He's had a decent layoff and there's no telling where he is athletically. And my point is that, regardless of how well he can run the wildcat, we just invested a #2 pick in a wildcat QB. There is no room for Mike Vick on this roster right now unless we carry four QB's or Pat White starts playing another position. And I will guarantee you that we are not carrying four QB's right now. We aren't deep enough and we're not good enough. With the rise of the wildcat, I would not be surprised if there is a small bidding war of sorts for Vick when he's reinstated. Someone with a need and desire make it worth his while financially. Miami would not be dealing from a position of need. They're already the best wildcat team in the league and just took the best wildcat player in the draft. A backup wildcat player would have to contribute in other ways. Pat White can help you as a return man and is widely expected to develop at WR at some point. And he's THE wildcat man. While it's definitely possible that we would want to develop other players for the wildcat, as it stands now they're going to have to be contribute primarily at other positions. There are just too many unknowns right now in late April. Once they start putting on pads and things start to shake out, then we'll have a better idea of what positions are open, how the QB position is breaking down, etc. In 2010, I would not be uncomfortable at all with a player like Michael Vick as my backup QB, assuming he's still got it. IMO you could do much worse. But then again, that could also be Pat White. We just don't know right now.
True, I meant to post a poll with this thread and just missed doing so, but it's sort of taken on a life of it's own. To be realistic, Mike Vick will go where he can have a chance of starting, not playing third stringer on a experimental offense, but I do believe the FO should take a look at him even if we don't sign him. Rotoworld had scuttlebutt that 4 teams were keeping an eye on Vick, but he's still under contract with the Falcons, and he has other hurdles as well. But thinking ofVick rolling out with a run or pass option out of the WC would be exciting, but ultimately...it won't happen.
I didnt like seeing his brother in a dolphins uniform, definitely dont want to see him or that last name on a dolphins uni again.
really.. "the ones" ....link us up with that would ya.. first you insinuate that if we don't like vick on the team we don't want to win, now I think you are making stuff up about those that oppose your position. This thread is not about porter, OR what we may or may not think about a player already under contract and not in prison waiting to be released. If you want to discuss "that" start a new thread. sooo, you have disparaged your fellow members with this accusation of double standards, please back it up, or retract it.
Unfortunately he missed badly on every other throw. But that's ok. He won't be asked to do that much anymore.
This scenario could work if Pennington leaves after 09 season. And in a league full of wife beaters, druggies and questionable characters, I find it hard to comprehend why Vick gets more hatred than your average run of the mill scumbag that gets chance after chance to play.
Why not Michael Vick? Because he is a lying, dog torturing, dog killing scum bag that I would sooner see stripped, tied to a stake, slathered in bacon grease, and left for a pack of starving wild dogs. But, hey...that's just me.
Really Mick Vick are you kidding me. Padre I dont know if you have been lost over the past 2 years and have not listen to ESPN but Mick Vick has had a ton of bad press around him . That would not be good for a young team like us.
I think he'd be great in the wildcat. In fact, if Pat White does well Vick will owe him a debt of gratitude cause it'd probably increase his chances of getting a second chance. However, you really think having 4 QB's is a smart use of limited roster space? Like someone said, a backup for your 3rd string QB seems a bit uncalled for.
As for wanting to win, or not, that I do retract and apologize for, my mistake and it lowers the quality of the discussion.
He hasn't paid ANY dues. The law has not caught up with the severity of the crime yet. Vick tortured dogs for ***** & giggles. He did it repeatedly and without remorse. I'm not talking about fighting the dogs either. I'm talking about the drowning and electrocution of the dogs. This wasn't a crime of passion. He wasn't drunk. It wasn't a momentary lapse of judgment. There is no justification for this. None. He did these things, not for food, not for self defense, not for anything other than the JOY of doing it. And he he kept coming up with different and horrible ways to do it. That means that Vick respects nothing, except himself, he is a sociopath. So I ask all of you, who think Vick should be given a shot, why would you want someone of exceptional athleticism, but limited talent, on your team if they won't respect their coaches or teammates?
If Leonard Little can kill a person and get another shot, I see no problem with Vick getting another shot as well. He went to jail, he's lost basically everything. What more do people want? What he did was horrible, I dont want to root for the guy. But I dont need to see him killed to placate my disgust for him either.
2 years in prison and 80 million dollars is not exactly a traffic fine. He paid far more then the owner of a low rent puppy mill would have. And he paid for it, to say he has no remorse is to engage in mind reading. Indeed, it was horrific, but the Buzzards are busy with Prometheus at the moment, how long is he to pay for what he has already paid for? What is the limit, in your opinion, that Mike Vick should be forced to pay? For myself, because there is Redemption, even for Mike Vick. And do keep in mind Joey Porter dressed down Cam Cameron on a plane flight after a route in Foxboro, he disrespected his coach, his teammates, even the air line crew, yet now...he's the sack guy.
Good for him, I still don't want him on the team! Wow, Porter dressed down his coach, teammates and even an airline crew, wow, lets compare what Vick has done and Porter has done off the field shall we???? Vick denied everything until he new he was dead meat. You want Vick good for you, your welcome to your opinion. I would say 90% of our fans want nothing to do with him, me included. And its not just because he is a lying low life animal killing creep, its because he wasn't that great a QB to begin with, in fact from what I have seen from Pat White, he is a heck of a more accurate QB. I also don't want the bad, no not bad, the awful publicity we will get. And the guy has not played in two years, he will not be the same player. That's all I have to say on the subject, I'm done, let the Raiders sign him!
I'm not saying Little deserved another one either. It is a privilege to play in the NFL. Some things, should disqualify you from another chance. However, because Little lucked up and got another chance doesn't mean everyone else should get the same.
Which works out, cause I never said it was a traffic fine. An equal travesty. Luckily for the sake of my consistency, I feel the book should be thrown at those bastards too. Nothing that happened to him would instill the shift it would take to go from someone who tortures dogs for fun to someone who wouldn't. He is only remorseful for getting caught. Dollars to donuts, if he had immunity to continue his ways, he would. He didn't find God, (he already did before), he didn't have a compassionate epiphany. Forced to pay? He shouldn't be allowed back in the NFL and I damn sure don't want him on my favorite team. I wouldn't be allowed to join a team in the NFL, through no fault of my own, and I'm not a sociopath & criminal. How long should I be forced to pay? Redemption through losing money? I must have missed that verse. Clearly the same thing.
I dont think Vick deserves anything. But if another team wants to give him a second chance, I dont really have a problem with it. I dont want him in a phin uni, cause I cant imagine ever being in a position to root the pos, but if some other teams want to let them deal with that headache.
If he is brought in by this front office I am seriously jumping ship. He'd be good at the wildcat, but I love dogs. He might have learned his lesson, but I love dogs.
