I'm wondering how experience is relevant to watching and commenting on pro basketball.


My point is that Haslem isn't a guy that belongs on the floor for extended minutes every game, because believe it or not he IS a liability.

why would that matter

 

Playing great defense doesn't mean you should see extended minutes. In fact it MEANS you are a specialty player who needs to only be playing SITUATIONAL basketball.

Holding your opponent to scoring 10 points against you means nothing if you don't contribute to the offense yourself. It becomes a wash at best.

Not to mention Dirk is KNOWN for choking. Not to mention lots of PF have won championships.

Yea I was two years old watching the Heat's inaugural season. I grew up listening to Eric Reid and wanting to be like Rony Seikaly.

that applies to gaurds and small forwards, not 4's. 4s are not usually asked to be good offensively depending on the system, and in Riley's system the PF has usually been the rebounding, postup defending player. Think Larry Johnson, PJ Brown, Brian Grant....

The problem is when the rest of the team fails to have much talent collectively but most especially the bench. We have one of the worst benches in the league, btw, and not much depth at PF/C. Haslem is a very good player but has to have talent around him for his game to really be effective. When youre surrounded by scrubs and a so-so Jermaine O'Neal, what do you expect?

Even if that was true, it doesn't mean everything you say is right. Bill Parcels knows more about football than most of us will ever know, but that doesn't mean he is never wrong and we are never right

I don't really care anyway. Saying he sucks was overreacting, but playing great defense doesn't make you a starter in my opinion. Not saying he shouldn't get any minutes, but you can upgrade over Haslem for sure as a starter.

sure, but at what cost? You have to be careful. You have to see if the player best fits the system. If it was possible for us to land Bosh, I would be all for it as long as Wade isnt included, of course. But anyone less than Bosh, would either not really fit the system or would cost too much. We already have moeny tied to Wade, Beasely, O'Neal, Chalmers.....You have to consider the options first. Really, theres not many players that would fit unlike Haslem, you might wind up with worse than him.

I'm impressed with Pachulia. He is just the kind of player this team needs. What ever happened to Riley finding those types and developing them? We haven't see that out of Riley in a very long time. And no D Cook and Kapano are not good examples.

I liked how he mentioned the fact that they were showboating and running up the score.

 

I'm talking about the Bowens, the Ike Austins, the energy guys that can impact games that came out of nowhere.

 

The ONLY player on the team I have respect for... actually, other than Al Horford although he's overrated as hell. I don't even respect Zaza and those elbows he throws around to rebound.

Josh Smith has hit my top 5 list for least favorite players in the league.

 

Josh Smith barks and acts like a pitbull but deep down I bet he is a poodle.. Can't stand him.
