So the fight night was ok, the fights for the most part were entertaining. Of course the fight of the night, IMO, is Cole Miller DOMINATING Junie Browning. He has no respect in that company. I am actually really surprised Coutore took him under his wing. Unless he sees alot of potential with him. The first thing that kid needs to do is get a legit belt. That IMO is the biggest knock against him. I cant say I feel bad for him though, he set himself up for all the abuse he gets. The UK fighters looked pretty good, the one short stout guy Dana said looked like a Pit Bull looks like he could be a contender. The previews for next week make it look like the US team may be shaky.
Also I got that shirt badass was wearing, the white on dedicated to Mask. But it has a pencil mark on one of the arms, I dont know if I should try to wash it out or return it, its an expensive shirt.
Ryan Bader looks like he could be a serious mixed martial artist. You can see his game starting to develop. That's the fear you have with many wrestlers. That they won't develop the jiu jitsu and such and remain sort of 1-dimensional throughout their careers. His wasn't the most exciting fight. But he dominated against a better opponent than before. When are Efrain and Nover fighting next?
I agree with Bader, he has the skills, he just needs to learn more. As for Nover, IDK. I do know they are showing a replay of the Penn-Pierre2 on spike Sat. night. Yeh last night was the first one, they will show it again, and again, aaaand again. But this one is UK vs. USA, should be interesting.
good card on WEC last night, although one of my favorite fighters Marcus Hicks layed a dud pretty much and lost in decision to Rob McCullough(sp?)
I think the first one was mainly about the fighting after that it turned into a big brother rip off..........
Last season was the first TUF I actually followed (I'd checked out of MMA for awhile). I enjoyed it for the most part. The first episode left me a bit unfulfilled. And with the previews of next week showing the American's sucking ***, I don't know if it'll keep me.
man Dana wasn't kidding; the US boys did not show well on TUF. yikes. and Junie Brown's brother? that should get interesting.
Diaz Vs Shamrock Shamrock was trying to box with the guy whos hands are twice as long as his. What the hell?
Any body watch The Bellator Fighting Championships on ESPN Deportes? My boy Eric knocked out one of the tournament favorites in the first round. Improving his record to 10-1, still never being past the first round. http://msn.foxsports.com/boxing/story/9445038/Ex-EliteXC-featherweight-champ-Reis-advances
THey did a good job shuting everything down tonight. I went throught about 10 links, that got shut down in the matter of minutes.
Thales Leites, what a waste. Give me $150,000 and I can walk around, throw a jab every 60 secs, and fall over anytime any confrontation may be about to happen. Why even give that guy a shot?
I don't get why Leites didn't even swing for the fences. You know it's your one shot (at least after that disaster), and you know you're really outclassed (should of been a given), so why not attack and try to get lucky? Not like Leites has a ton of other people that the fans would want to see him fight. He had nothing to lose and he decided to be a giant *****.
he didn't know what to do after silva got out of his holds. that is supposed to be his bread and butter and silva made it look like jack ****. i think after that he just hoped to not get his *** kicked.
post fight, Dana White said that Liddell has fought his last fight, and mentioned that he never wants to see a guy stick around too long, and that we had just witnessed the last fight of one of the best ever. he went on to say he was embarrassed with the main event, both guys performances, and apologized to the fans.
It SHOULD have been. The other guy wanted to win, and didn't want to get hurt, I understand that. But the lay down defense was terrible, and made him look real bad.
Not really IMO. You take an avg one dimensional, ju-jitsu guy who's fought nobody (Leites) and throw him in against a guy who is superior at everything (Silva) and he won't have a chance. Bad match making. Leites def didn't do anything to deserve that title shot either.
no, but i thought that Andersen Silva might actually finish the guy. i did not see the fight yet, but from the reaction i've seen online, Silva's reputation took a hit, because he didn't put out much effort.
You should watch the fight first then, instead of reading the hype. Silva was the only one engaging and every time he did, and I mean EVERY time, Leites fell backwards and laid on his back. Silva didn't want to fight him on the ground so he just waited for him to stand up. That repeated the whole fight. It takes two people for a fight to happen. Liddel even stood up for Silva in the post fight conference when Dana White called him out. White's an idiot for questioning the champion when he's throwing guys at him that don't even want to fight.
Silva, being the dominant champ he is supposed to be, should of taken it to him. Everybody brags that his ground game is almost as good as his striking (Hey now! He submited Dan, he has to be good!) That fight just proved me the dude is one dimensional. or he is not confident or his ground game. One of the two.
