2a. SEAN SMITH CB - UTAH
2b. CLINT SINTIM LB - VIRGINIA
    3. JAIRIS BYRD CB/S - OREGON

    - I also think we'll re sign Jason Taylor after the draft and he will play Nickel-Dime DE and some OLB for us this year.
    - I think we draft more DB's this draft than any draft in Parcells history
    - I don't see us drafting an OL

You may have missed it Mike but we now have a 6th rounder from the Satele trade and lost one of our 7ths to the Jags for Tony McDaniel.

We also swapped 5th round spots with the Raiders from the Satele trade.

Which of course means I need to change my sig as well.

Not to rain on D-Mike's parade, but a Dolphins blogger mentioned we will bring in 12 UDFA's from tiny schools hoping to mine 2 gems ala D Bess and Torobio.

12 UDFA's recieve invites, you just know we may see 3 or 4 stick if not on the roster then on the practice squad.

I don't think we will, that's who I would like to get there though.

Moore could be the top back up to both safety spots, and many times Bell came up as a LB last year on passing downs. If that trend continued, the 3rd safety sees a lot of action. Plus he'd be great on special teams.

Not to mention there are injury concerns with Bell, and some milder concerns with Wilson.

It's a talent acquisition business, and Moore's got a lot of it.

I know there was a little Pat White hype about him being the next "Slash"...but he's exactly the kind of guy they will show throughout the draft round after round sliding. He might go in Rounds 3-5 but I think he is more likely to go 5-7

I love Butler, and for once I agreed with you on a couple of things. Amazing isn't it?

As for Scott, I know for a fact that both the Jets and Miami are interested.

If you view White more as a WR, he isn't a QB. And you are taking a flyer in the 7th round on a prospect who takes 2, 3 years to build. Its all about how you view White.

I'm actually shocked there are people who think we will take a tight end with our first pick. We already have two solid tight ends on our roster (Fasano, Martin) and a third (Haynos) who has shown promise. I don't even think we'll take a TE at all, but if we do I highly doubt it will be early. I guess we'll see though.

I think we're going with a combination of a CB, OLB, WR on the first day. I'm not good with mock drafts so I won't try one and embarrass myself.

Somebody has been reading my thread! LOL

I swear some of these guys must be reading thePHINS everyday!

"Here's why: Will Allen, Thomas and Jones all will be unrestricted free agents next year if their contracts aren't extended before then. Although Allen might be the only starter of the bunch, such an exodus at the position would be tough to manage.

''When you have three [future unrestricted free agents] going into a position, you have to look at the draft and free agency,'' general manager Jeff Ireland said. ``We have Eric, but we didn't get some of the other guys we looked at.''

That, of course, leaves only the draft.

For the sake of developing those players in Miami's system this year, the Dolphins are expected to make the position a high priority on draft day, perhaps devoting several of their nine picks toward cornerbacks."

I've not recently made a complete mock to justify my Dolphins mock. IMO, any of us can easily manipulate a complete mock and come up with several plausible scenarios to make our Dolphins mock play out like we want. I basically try to be somewhat conservative in my picks, such as most guys who include Byrd have him at 56 rather than 44, and try to put them in the rounds that based on information at hand most commonly projects them to go in.

You're just that far ahead of the curve D-Mike.

I really like Ryan Mouton, to me he is a poor man's Darius Butler.

I know you like Carey, but Ryan Mouton is a steal if we can snag him in the later rounds D-Mike, there is very little that Butler can do that Mouton cannot do physically.

Looking at it, Butler and Smith are two very different players, if we miss Butler, will we see a big drop off going with S Smith if we take him?

My issue with S Smith is short area quickness, those three fast strides he's so large I'm sold on his ability to do that well.

Although they have different styles, both would be great CB's in Quarters. Butler would be better though IMO.

When I try to envision corners that I think Parcells prefers, #1 is tackling ability vs the run. #2 is to be a physical package that is going to be able to withstand the pounding of the NFL game opposed to college.
Butler says Parcells corner to me less than any of the top group of corners. I think he tries to tackle most of the time but he is not strong enough to be consistently effective and I think too he is the body type that can break down if he tries to be anything more than a Deion Sanders type of tackler at corner.
He is an inch and half taller than DJ or Alphonso but they are both at least 10 lbs heavier and both are stronger, and neither of them is close to Jairus Byrd's or Vontae Davis' class from a physical package standpoint either. But they are ahead of Butler.
