http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5gniLM6lFJe1fkwWluc_qrG2kJdow if this happens. we're ****ed.
There's also a thread in POFO. The grid has been vulnerable for years. I'm just surprised it's taken this long for something to surface.
You can delete this one if there is one already. If you remember I'm banned from the POFO otherwise I wouldn't have posted a duplicate. And yes, as long as there's a security system up the potential for it to be cracked is always present. All someone needs is determination and the know how.
Of course. No ****, there are crackers probing the US power grid. It's their job. Oh wait, he meant hackers...
I'm still trying to figure out why, when he said we're ****ed, only 4 *s came up. "Screwed" should have been 5 of them!!!
Hmm, I might be used to different lingo then. Hackers are people, cracks are software. Hackers hack the software/system, then create cracks. Not that I ever use any of those, I ... learned it by watching the Net with sandra bullock. Yeah.
hacker has become a misnomer of the popular culture. this is hacking http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/hacker-howto.html
Thats something they just came up with to differentiate between the two. I'm not sure who, but I'm assuming its probably a security group or something along those lines. Its all the same to me, you can be a good hacker or a bad hacker, I don't really see the reason for them trying to seperate the two other then to make themselves feel good........
I always hated how there is a need to disassociate hacker with cracker, but then there's no need to differentiate between someone simply cracking DRM/Software for public consumption & people who crack a DB to steal private information with intent of malicious use.
