Tell me you are kidding...you HAVE to know who that is.

And if you are saying he was a SF no way he gets those stats, he was a tweener. He split time between the 3 and 4.

James Worthy was a tweener and played alot of PF.

he is also the closest player in skill set to Michael Beasley.

i see what you're saying. assuming he matures, and they use him as a tweener, he does have the inside / outside game and size of worthy.

as of now, and strictly as a pf, he doesn't remind me at all of brain grant, pj brown, charles oakley, udonis haslem, anthony mason etc. (the nasty guy, who does the dirty work.)

we don't want the nasty guy that does dirty work...neither does Riley...he didn't spend the #2 overall on "THAT GUY".

He spent that pick on a potential Chris Bosh, James Worthy, etc...etc..

Here we go, folks. The final stretch is here.

    5. Miami Heat 41-37
    6. Philadelphia 76ers 40-38

Miami: @ Boston, vs. New York, @ Atlanta, vs. Detroit
Philadelphia: vs. Cleveland, @ Toronto, vs. Boston, @ Cleveland

Dude, Philly might not win another game this season. I will NOT be surprised if they end the season on a 7 game losing streak. They are playing terrible basketball on the road, and their remaining home games are Cleveland and Boston (K.G. may return for that game). Three straight losses @ New Jersey, @ Charlotte, @ Chicago. That is not good at all. Inexcusable. IMO, the magic number for Miami is 2. If we can beat New York and Detroit at home then we are good. ROOT FOR THE LAKERS TO WIN OUT... right now they are just a half game behind Cleveland for the best record in the league (aka home court if the two should meet in the Finals). The more pressure on Cleveland, the more they're forced to fight it out until the very last game of the season. With the Lakers trailing right behind them, LeBron and co. should hand Philly 2 more losses.

Tie breaker, FYI, will be conference record. As it stands:

    Miami: 26-22
    Philly: 24-24

It'd take a major fall for us or a remarkable run for Philly for us to drop to 6th aka death. Actually, it might take BOTH. They're a full game behind us. Basically if we go 3-1 here it's a wrap.

Banking on my 43-39 projected record on page one of this thread to go through. 44-38 is sexier; let's beat Boston or Atlanta.

Sixers down 11 with 2 minutes to go... 40-39 now. We're probably 41-38 at the end of the night, but no yelling and screaming over here. Boston's top notch at HOME even without K.G.

If Chicago jumps them I am going to laugh my *** off. Chicago deserves that 6th spot regardless. Maybe even the 5th, but they've got no shot at it. 13-1 at home since the All Star break and playing some solid basketball overall? They are the lone non-homecourt team making an effort night in, night out in the East right now.

9/18 and Wade is 5/11. Ouch!!! The difference in this game right now. No doubt.

He's without question the worst player on this basketball team. I told you guys that the one (out of 59) good game that he had meant nothing.

Still don't know why Dorell doesn't get a single minute with Moon out. He can at least rebound the basketball and his mid range jumper was coming along nicely last year before his signature mid season injury.

Chalmers needs to stop shooting... for the rest of the season + playoffs. Even if it's a layup.

Rookie wall, but still serviceable. Scrappy, gets steals, doesn't turn it over.

Wade chucks up a contested three with 20 seconds left on the shot clock that doesn't even hit rim... unreal.

And that probably loses us the ball game...........what's new? Guess we're good as long as Philly is in a giving mood.

    Now he misses a layup.

He's turned into a MAJOR choker. Don't want to hear about his numbers. 7/13 from the FT line in a close game. There's your difference. He lost the previous gem for us at the free throw line.

I am really concerned about Dwyane Wade's inability to come up big in the clutch. It's mind boggling. It really is.

Better to get them out of the way now then in postseason. He needs to (Spo)start cutting down on his minutes some, IMO. Get him rested.

Of course he is... although he had a great game the other night. Problem is, since March he's been awful down the stretch. Of course he can shut all of that up by dominating Atlanta next week, but still. I'm concerned with his play in the final stretch of ball games. Not the same Dwyane Wade, and it's been all year aside from the Chicago and New York games. I don't expect him to nail every big bucket, as Michael Jordan probably made 4 out of every 10 game tying/winning shots he attempted, but I also don't expect him to go 1 for 10. Come on, D-Wade. Get it together. Forget about your ex-wife if that is what's bothering you.

On a brighter note, nothing really matters since Philly has basically given us the 5th seed barring a dramatic turn around in the final three games. They could have easily stole it from us if they wanted to. I actually think Chicago is going to jump them. Tough game on the road tomorrow @ Detroit, then they finish up at home against Toronto. Philly has a good shot of losing their last two... so let's see what they do @ Toronto this afternoon.

FYI, Detroit is now eliminated from catching up to us. We'd have to lose the last three and Chicago would have to win their remaining two for them to catch us. So if Philly loses today and we win... 5th is clinched.

And if that falls through, then I am ROOTING FOR ATLANTA to beat our asses on Tuesday! Why? Because I'm superstitious as **** and I don't believe we can lose THREE GAMES @ Atlanta in a week. Based on my superstition, we'd then be a lock to win game 1 or 2.

    What a game.
Man do I look like a total fool for questioning the organization when it comes to Beas :) And gladly so, I've loved Beas all season and underestimated the organization. I can't see Haslem starting at PF next year with the potential Beas has to be a top 5 PF.. Crap, when given the minutes he already looks like a top 5 PF.

Good god HD..the over-reaction to Wade in the last page is something else...of course..he scores 55 to make this last page look a little silly.

as for Chicago "deserving" the 5th seed....what was the season series between us?

yeah...Chicago deserves a Boston boot up their ***.

This is what i am working on....can Detroit get the 6th seed? we need to tank that last game against Detroit at all costs to send the Orlando Magic a nice playoff present.

well...the 5th seed is ours finally....long season..but we did it.

The theme for this year is BACK TO BLACK. So you gotta dust off your black jersey's from the 04 playoffs.

Guess you haven't watched a single close Heat game after the Chicago game. And he was amazing tonight... nothing surprising. No one said he can't do it. It's just that he hasn't been doing it.

As for the Bulls, yes, they deserve it far more than we do. Have you watched them since the All Star break? Have you watched Miami since going 36-29? Philly in their last 5? Detroit since moving Billups? I am not calling Chicago a better team than Miami head to head. That they are not. Miami is an entire class ahead of Chicago, Philly, and Detroit. We're in that Atlanta class. We've just been garbage over the last month. I'm just saying... I am relieved that this season has two more games left instead of ten. Chicago would be a major threat.

Also, Wade is amazing... second best player (or third) in the league. We all know that. He's my favorite athlete ever. But I am not going to shy away from calling him out when he deserves to be called out. I used to defend my favorite players at all cost, but what's it worth? I'd rather be as unbiased as possible. Bottom line. Through three quarters he's been amazing all season long. In March and April, he's been non existent or a liability (believe it or not) down the final stretch of close games. I don't mind him screwing up a few games here or there; he's supposed to. But come on. It's been a two month stretch now. However, I'm optimistic heading into the playoffs for the simple fact that he's Dwyane Wade and he's healthy. We all know that he's capable of dominating any team on any night, but I want to see him do it more consistently. If he gets us to round two, and I don't even care if Cleveland sweeps us, I'll take back everything negative I've said about him all season long and I'll wear a shirt that says "I am Wade's *****" to the season opener in October / November.

I am also glad to see Michael Beasley show case his talents. 28 & 16 on a night where Wade went off for 55... I'd like to say that if Wade had a so-so night scoring and was forced to defer to Beasley, he'd of went off for 40 tonight. My God he was unstoppable. This Haslem injury was a positive; we lose nothing in the standings and he'll be back for the playoffs (where we have no chance without him) and it has forced Beasley to grow into a bigger contributor. Michael Beasley is going to lead the league in scoring one day...

I don't understand why so many people are surprised at my comments. Instead of judging Wade based on the 30+ PPG he's averaged since the All Star break (which is remarkable in its own right) I've opted to comment on how he's played in the last few minutes of big games lately. We're all used to depending on Wade to come up big in the clutch, and he just completed a span of maybe 4-5 games in March and April where he choked one way or another. Bad shots. Open misses. Settling for contested threes instead of attacking the rim. Two turnovers in the final seconds of two games in one week. Because he's Wade and he's my favorite player doesn't excuse him from being called out. Come on.

It's not like I said "Wade's career is done. He's Tracy McGrady now." No. The guy is the second best basketball player in the world. He just needs to step it up down the stretch. Find that confidence again, or whatever is bothering him in his personal life... yeah, leave it be when you step on the court. Maybe tonight's outburst, albeit a 17 point victory, will get him back on track.

I am not calling Wade a piece of crap here. How many times have I said he's the second greatest player in the world and that he's my favorite athlete ever (Dan Marino is a Republican)? He's just not bulletproof.

    It's probably just because I'm an O.D. exaggerator... :)

Being a republican is a reason to not like an athlete?

anyway...Wade's "failures" as of late are a drop in the bucket...whenever there is a BIG GAME..there is nobody on the planet, that I would rather have playing for me than Dwyane Wade.

In a million years...you will NEVER see a guy like Paul Pierce shut down Wade....or a guy like Gilbert Arenas out duel him...so yes...Wade is the most clutch performer in ALL of sports.

It has been that way since he took Marquette to the final four.

    Beasley's last 5 games:
    - 35 min per game
    - 20.6 points per game
    - 9.4 rebounds per game
    - Shooting 58% from the field
    - Shooting 62.5% from behind the arch
    - 2 asists per game

Good thing he was on the bench all year. Who needs a 20/10 guy?

Honestly, thank god Haslem got hurt (as long as he is healthy for the playoffs). The injury forced Spolstra's hand into finally seeing what we have in Beasley.

Do you guys think Spolstra puts Beasley back on the bench when Haslem gets back? I hope not. Haslem can bring everything he brings from the bench just as easily as the starting lineup. Beasley is a monster... and the future.

    I love me some Beas!

I dont have a huge problem with Beasley coming off the bench. However, he needs to get 35+ minutes, regardless of starting or not.

And he also must be on the floor during crunch time.

My problem with Beasley coming off the bench is that we get in such a huge hole in the beginning of every game w/o Beasley in the starting lineup... that we are forced to dig our way out of the rest of the game. Spotting the other team 10+ points off the bat really hurts us. With Beasley starting, his offense allows us to get off to a faster start...

I agree. I like what Spo was doing by starting Beasley but then taking him out with a few minutes left in the first, allowing him to bring beasley back in with the 2nd unit as well. It seemed to work well the last few games

Beasley is like the Ronnie Brown of the Heat, he's a beast when he's in the game, but that seems to be a rarity.
