funny these posts followed eachother......hockey fans talking about baseball striking must not remember the absolute garbage situation their league was/is in a few years ago....

 

It is in an even worse situation now. Unless some DRASTIC changes occur, I think you will see a lot of these teams go bye bye. Financially, hockey is ****ed.

 

i remember it alright it just sucked a whole lot more than when baseball went on strike.

it was a relief when baseball went on strike.

also hockey and fights. i don't watch hockey because of the fights but they are an added bonus that can change the momentum of a game.

dude all of canada watches hockey the last time i checked canada has a lot of people.

i guess we will have to agree to disagree i just don't understand the thrill of watching a man on a mound pitch to a guy on a plate and the other players waiting around motionless until someone either makes a hit or tries to steal a base.

in hockey feet are - or should be - always moving regardless if you're involved at the moment or not.

 

They should just merge the two sports. Make them play baseball on ice.

ANLGP, I like hockey, but the feet always in motion thing isn't a good defense imo. Riverdance dancers are in constant motion, and that is mind numbingly boring to watch.

 

yes but riverdancers are dancing like panzies. these guys are moving up ice in an attempt to do one of two things:

take their man off the puck (= checking galore)
score goals (= very intense)

 

Who careS? Think of the results when someone tries to steal second and Datsyuk decides to check them into oblivion!

The cool part would be rounding third and into an immediate slide. You could glide for 90 feet at least.

True, but hardcore checking happens about as often as a woo lick in football. That is to say, not overwhelmingly.

And goals? They had to change the rules a few years ago in order to even bump the scoring up beyond soccer levels.

Like I said, I am a hockey fan, but I understnad why people don't like it. Much like baseball, I think people need to GO to the games in order to have a greater appreciation for them.
