I disagree with this from top to bottom. He played well for us and other than wearing down or getting blocked more at the end of the season, he took good angles and made some plays. BTW - He's also one of our team leaders now, and that role is also an important one on such a young team.

Not to be overly condescending but it is clear what was asked of Porter- He had next to no coverage responsibility, was allowed to line up on the weak side of any formation, and was allowed to line up however wide it took for him to be uncovered. He was basically acting like Dwight Freeney(See a connection?)

stay of these drugs, porter had a monster year and if he had just someone on the other side that could have shoulder some of the load, the sack record by strahan would be history by now and this is not madden where you trade anyone away just because you want more picks, 1 star thread

Theres no doubt that Joey made essential plays for our team this year in the pass rush. Without him we wouldnt have even had a pass rush really. But, of course this led to larger running lanes. Its a natural correlation. When you start to pass rush a lot more, especially from the outside, you leave running lanes in the middle. Its just a flat out natural occurance. Im not saying this was a bad thing that happened im just saying that Joeys not to blame for it.

Hopefully this season we will have other people who can apply pressure also so joey can focuss just a little bit more on the running lanes. Theres no way that should be his main focus though, seeing as hes such a good pass rusher.

Dude Tyson was the baddest man on the planet....the best ever in my opinion. I remember fights he had where guys were so scared all Tyson had to do was show up. Tyson was a true phenom.

    No question about that.

He was the best ever and is still the youngest heavyweight champ ever. Too bad he's so self-destructive. Part of the weird combo that made him a monster though.

lol It was the tattoo that did that?

Not the rape, ear-biting, or eating/stomping children's genitals remarks?

****, the tattoo was one of the most normal things he did in the past few decades.

Ya know I'm new to this board and I am quickly realizing that one must be factual and careful at one posts because if your not you will be quickly eaten up like my buddy did earlier in this post that you offered the white flag to(he should have taken it)...don't tell him I said that

Seriously, rape...ya know I wasn't there, seemed like a money thing to me. Ear biting Evander Hollyfield, tasteless, yet that's not what I heard Mike say.....LOL The guys got issues, I remember the comment about eating that dude's kids.....Mike's definitely had his share of "things that make ya go hhhhhUMMMMMM"

Doesn't change the fact that he was the best ever IMO!!!!!!:gun_bandana:

You gotta understand that some people around here, not naming any names, have so many insecurities and hang ups that they will take any opportunity you leave them to bash you or belittle you or make you feel wholly inadequate. The best thing to do is ignore them...or turn and show them the new jersey state bird.

    To get back on topic

Maybe we can get a 7th rounder for Joey. I know how upset everyone was when we traded it for Tony McDaniels. And we all know that having 3 dozen draft picks is way more important than adding talent to a team.

Damn, I either gotta stop drinking or start smoking again.

In a weird way We saved my buddy Ricky some heart ache. He is a good guy and I was even surprised when he posted that because usually he has better facts to back up his opinions with.......I really did smile the whole time I read this post because you guys really smoked him. But, being the guy he is, he's a good sport and won't take it personal. Once you get to know him you will enjoy talking with him. That sack post by the way was one of the best posts I've seen in a while!!!!!

I believe you, bro. I wasn't trying to belittle the guy or anything. I was just pretty shocked by that idea and it reminded me of being stuck in the zoo again lol.

In the end though, nobody really wants to smoke anybody (ricky williams, irony). We're all just looking for and sharing knowledge/info/opinions and if we disagree then so be it. Besides, I don't think many people really get their feelings hurt by other people's posting (At least I really hope not).

I'm sure your buddy is gonna really enjoy reading all the stuff in Club. There's so much info in here it'll make your head spin at times.

This site is a thousand times better then the one we came from. We brought another great poster over, his name is Toddphins, I looked him up earlier and he's been here not even a week and he's averaging 80+ posts a day...you'll like his stuff when you get a chance to read it. I was wondering if you would get the correlation I was trying to make between "smoking" Ricky and his avatar and name......LOL

Idk how else to describe insider info. We get info that isn't known outside of that forum. Everything there is in a lot more depth and there's just a lot more info in general.

The 2 day trial I'm not sure about. I would ask any of the mods around here. Just send one a PM, or you could post that as a topic in the Questions forum.

That's pretty much all i was trying to say! maybe i chose the wrong words to say it but i stand by what i said. i noticed it all last year. It's not Porter's fault if that's how the coaches wanted him to play, but it's the coaches job to plug that hole and i believe they failed at it. But it's hard to complain when you go from 1-15 to 11-5.

i don't understand the mentality of the white flag so you'll never see me waving it. lol. I pointed out my point to a lot of people in a chat room during the game last year and they saw what i was talking about. if it happens again this year i'll point it out again. that's all the facts i need.

appreciate you sticking up for me. I've never been one to go with the crowd. one of my favorite quotes is "what's right is not always popular and what's popular is not always right".

i know what i saw and that's all that matters to me. doesn't mean i can't be wrong. sometimes i think i know what i saw until i see the replay. i think we can all relate to that. But the advantage i have on knowing what i'm talking about in this thread is that this is something i noticed in a game last year, so i looked for it in every game. Every game i saw afterwards, confirmed what i saw in the first place. Doesn't mean its Porter's fault, maybe that's where i'm wrong. But last year there was a big whole on his side of the line, that's a fact. Who's fault it is, is up for debate.

you can try and back out all you want, and say you chose the wrong words and what not. but you didnt say what other people were saying, had you started a thread and stated Porter wasnt a great run defender you would of been OK. your exact words were

stand by that all you want, but its 100% false. and thats a fact

i dunno what the problem is with JP creating running lanes for the opponent, its a known risk, if you overpursue sometimes the other team will take advantage of that, not JP´s fault, he was told to rush the passer

The problem is that the majority of the posters in this thread don't think this is happening. Sure, i'm probably wrong for implying that this is porter's fault, specially if he was told to play that way. I just see it as a flaw in our defense that needs to be addressed.

No, it's not that the rest of us don't know or see that it happens.

It's that the rest of us already know that it happens on almost every team with any passrusher when the play calls for them to pressure the QB.

That's the risk you take when you a call a play like that. Obviously, getting a sack is worth the risk.
