Diet soda is indeed awful for you, worse then regular soda. And yes, it is due to the sweeteners used.
WOW. The word is POP, not soda. And half of you are from the East Coast... Rednecks have corrupted you all.
We used to have a cabin in oregon that we spent vacation at every year near klamath falls / crater lake. the old man that ran the local store called them sody waters.
Excuse me? Here in New Jersey / New York City, we call it soda. Hardly redneck country. It is soda, not "pop". "Pop" is the dumbest name I've ever heard. The "rednecks" in Pittsburgh use that.
diet dr. pepper is great. diet orange...crush or slice, whatever the pepsi product is is really good but i really like cherry coke zero im not sure im buying into the idea that diet sodas are worse for you as a general rule. depends the person and what they eat and drink over a long period of time i was about 20 pounds overweight. the drinks were my biggest problem. i only found that out after cutting the sweet stuff out and sticking to primarily water and diet sodas with an occasional iced tea. i suppose ideally it would be better for me to just drink water, but its just not gonna happen.
I suppose you're an elitist who knows nothing about the South but simply relies on the stereotype that everyone from here is a "redneck." And I'm willing to let you live in your ignorance of that. But if you want to be technical, "rednecks" don't call it soda. It's simply called "Coke." Doesn't matter if it's Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, Orange, Root Beer, etc. it's all "coke." Not soda. And pop is the ****tiest type of music known to man, not a word for a carbonated beverage.
I'm from NY and I've never heard anyone from the same state refer to it as "soda." Ever. You're a Jets fan, so obviously you're a little confused to begin with. The drink came before the ****ty music, buddy. The ****tiest music known to man is called country. I am an elitist and I do know everything.
Where do you live? A cave? Everyone calls it soda in NYC. Everyone. Outside of NYC, the state of NY is a joke.
Actually I disagree. I don't like country music at all. But at least country music is still about the music and the instruments.
heres a map that shows what people call soda from different parts of the country: http://popvssoda.com:2998/countystats/total-county.html
Ha the state is actually divided in half. Btw bro, I'd be carefully googling "coke" with that keystroke recorder on the comp.
Pick-up trucks, being depressed over redneck women and budweisers don't have any more to do with music than rap does. And if you disagree with that then I would say that you don't listen to very much hiphop, or don't realize how many different instruments can go into making 1 track.
Can you say clever marketing scheme? What their doing with country is the same thing as they did with pop back in the pre-disgusting Britney Spears days.
There's a difference between having musical talent and actually PLAYING an instrument well and just mixing someone else's sounds together to make a song.
Two things: I've almost never been impressed with any country artist who can actually play an instrument well. Half of them don't even play an instrument anyways. They just throw them in with some random back up band and cut a cd. The second, if you think most hiphop is just mixing other things together, then you would be incorrect. A lot of producer/artists make their own beats from scratch using keyboards, bass guitar, in some cases drums, etc.
Actually, in the Southwest we call it Soda Pop.... Just to dispell the myth that I partly started in here, after googling, I can find zero info that Diet Soda is any worse for you than regular, and in fact, from they Mayo clinic I found this: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/diet-soda/AN01732 It of course goes on to state that we should all drink juice (She even names Cranberry juice ) to be healthy...what else would you expect from a Doctor..
i'd give up drinking motor oil before i gave up soda. although, i dont plan on giving up either any time soon.
Two things...I can't stand country music, but there ARE some talented musicians in the field. Two...you undermined your own argument when you called them "producer/artists", because that's exactly what they are. If they were actual musicians, they would be referred to as such. Sorry bro, but using keys and bass to make beats doesn't make someone a musician. I'd bet a year's salary if you went up to 90% of rap artists and asked them what key their latest song was in their heads would implode. But let's get back to the subject...been a NYer all my life, and lived in the Bronx for most of it, and it's ALWAYS been called "soda".
Im adicted to atleast two 20 ounce Mountain Dew POPS a day, can quit for a while but never more than a few weeks. Rap/Country are on the same boat IMO....ofcourse some of these rappers amaze me that they make money talking about going "to da club" and "freakin yo body" and the country music is a broken record to...
None that I know of. And no, the producer/artist label doesn't make anyone less of a musician. I would equate it as the same as me saying I member of a band is the lead singer/bass player. I'll leave this alone now though bc I don't feel like getting into a huge debate over music again.
I don't feel like getting in a debate again either...but I will say that whether you feel it or not, unless you actually play an instrument fluently, you are not a musician. That's just fact, bro.
Man, you can feel the hate coming off that article. The real culprit in the pop business is the ignorance and apathy of the typical American consumer. First off, the article keeps mentioning "sugar," but all Coke (and every major pop brand in the US) is made with high fructose corn syrup. Why is that different? Start with what HFCS really is, or rather what it is NOT: it is not fructose, and it is not corn syrup. http://www.westonaprice.org/modernfood/highfructose.html: http://www.diabeteshealth.com/read/2008/08/20/4274/the-dangers-of-high-fructose-corn-syrup/: Here are a couple of excerpts from a Seattle Times article: (from the same article): Does that mean that consuming the 30+ grams of sugar in Mexican Coke or other cane sugar-sweetened specialty pops is healthy? Hell no. But there's a huge difference between sugar and HFCS; and the correlative increase in obesity, type-II diabetes and a myriad of other health issues in the exact time frame since the introduction of HFCS to all pop and most other products cannot be ignored nor brushed aside with familiar homilies by the condescending commercials sponsored by the corn industry. Nor can those insipid commercials deny that the body metabolizes sugar and HFCS differently, and that the way it handles HFCS is far more harmful than the way it processes cane or beet sugar. HFCS is a manufactured product altered at the molecular level to do one thing - make sweetening things cheaper and easier for the food industry. It is NOT corn syrup, nor is it fructose. It is the frankenstein-like creation of modern industry, and the best thing for all would be for it to be outlawed and have it be gone forever from our diets. But since our world is all about commerce and not a whit about what is best for our health, it is incumbent on us - the consumers - to vote with our wallets and choose better options.
Going back to the POP vs SODA argument from earlier in the thread. . I live in the UK and her we call it coke or pepsi. . you know the name of the brand we are drinking at the time. fanta, Dr pepper whatever. . We also call it pop or fizzy .. the one phrase I have not heard used here is soda. . For example. Husband: are you going to the shop? Wife: yes, why, would you like something? Husband: Please. . could you get me some fizzy. a coke with lime or if not some other pop. .dr pepper or a fanta. . well you know what i like we would not say. . yes please could you get me a soda. . a coke with lime or a dr pepper. . no no no. . it's fizzy or pop or actual brand name. .
Now this is a nice thread, lots or bickering & arguments but really no hostility. I'm a diet coke drinker and probably drink way too much. I really can't stand regular coke it's just brain numbingly awful. The exception to that is the coke bottled in mexico using the sugar that's a rare treat but when it's ice cold you can't beat it in a glass bottle.
i've played guitar untrained for roughly 8 years and if you were to ask me what key a song was in (even one that i know and could play through the whole thing) it would make my head explode. and i still enjoy referring to myself as a musicians because while i might not know the technical implications of the instrument i do enjoy playing the instrument. to get back to the argument at hand i've lived in delaware my whole life and traveled to north carolina frequently and in both places it has been called 'soda'. though i do have a friend from ohio who calls it 'pop'.
But you can play. There is the point. I could strap on a pair of skates and pick up a stick, but unless I know what to do with it I can't call myself a hockey player, ya know?
No it is as I explained earlier. . fizzy or pop. but never soda and 'Junk' here refers to something a man might leave behind after getting excited. .
