Am I blind or did you have Everette Brown falling out of the first round?

    I do.

The computer (alen1) and I agree on his over-ratedness. I always listen to the computer. :wink2: (except when he predicts the Jets take a RB)

I know some people think hes overrated, but really is he THAT worse of a prospect than, say, Derrick Harvey last year?

The simple fact is that pass rushers are considered premium players, and for all his faults, Brown CAN rush the passer very well. Considering the Jags traded up big to get a guy like Harvery last year indicates someone in the first who is desperate for a passrush will make a move.

I dont buy it, and this is from a person who also thinks Brown is overrated.

I don't like Brown, but I bet we'd take him if he made it to 25. I love DJ Moore though. I would be ecstatic if he were our pick, assuming Aaron Maybin and Alphonso Smith aren't on the board. Well Smith and Moore are pretty close to each other.

Maybin will go in rd 1 though, for the same reason Brown will, they are pass rushers and pretty talented, if not refined.

I think Everette Brown is overrated but I do not see him falling out of the first round. I'm not sure he falls out of the top ten because I could see a team like Cleveland taking him.

The Dolphins sent their linebacker coaches to FSU's Pro Day to see Everette Brown today. As for as numbers go today, lets just say that Brown did not fail to impress the 28 teams that came.

    Well away from here
Considering the proliferation of spread offenses and their elements throughout the league. And, the sheer number of offensive tackles chosen last year and likely this year should be equaled out by placing a premium on pass rushers.

Pass rushers are always overvalued, Harvey is a great example. Jammal Anderson is another one. Anderson was a shoe in to the Falcons 2 years ago at #8. I think he had like 6 sacks his senior year.

Pass rushers get overvalued, because speed off the edge kills, and you can't coach it. Many other things you can fix, but speed is one you can't. And, that just so happens to be a big factor in being a good to great pass rusher. You need some burst to make the tackle vulnerable.

    Nah Bro:

Make that Nate Davis and then we would have a Jets #1 pick.

DJ Moore is maybe a bit to small for us to take at #25, Parcell's and presumably Ireland and Sparano like "Large Football Players", a cat like Steve Smith if we Db, or just some large guy, name unimportant.

If the Jets take any QB at 17 it would be Josh Freeman.

Hell, anything could happen. That wouldnt be any stranger than a team taking....ohhh Say Vernon Gholston in the top 10......

I dont think there is ANY way we take DJ Moore ahead of either Smith for CB. I also dont see the current FO taking a DB at the first pick anyways...not unless they are named Davis or Jenkins.

Would not surprise me if the did exactly that 124, they have spent like crazy the last two years, so a "right now" pick is not a priority.

A wr would not be a bad pick, but who was the last Wr the Jets took in rd 1? Keyshawn?

I could see us taking Butler or any of the top 3 or 4 if they're there. The fact is, we're pretty thin at the position and it needs to be addressed. Maybe they do it later on in the draft but I'd prefer it to happen on the first day.

That would actually be a pretty good pick for the Jets IMO. Would be a very good fit for how the new regime is gonna run the offense I think.

Moore is the best pure cover corner right now though, and could probably return kicks. Alphonso has some experience at returns, but the other Smith doesn't iirc.

Moore is also pretty willing in run support for someone his size.

BUT, that is why I think our FO would never take him. He is a very solid Corner, especially in coverage. He is not used to taking on RB's 40 and 50 lbs more than him week in and week out. I dont care how tough you are, when you come in weighing 180 lbs, that is a very very tough role to take.
