Granted this was only there 2nd year in the NFL but knowing what you know right now who would you rather of taken in the 2006 draft with the 16th pick. note that cromartie was 19th overall. i'd much rather have cromartie seeing what he has done. he was the guy i wanted that year going into the draft. i dont know but i think dominating CB's are more important than dominating FS. whats your opinion
Lol Are you serious??? Jason Allen definately stepped up his play this year, but I'll take 10 interceptions anyday of the week. Cromartie, hands down.
I would stick with the guy who hasn't started a game and doesnt know his position.....special teamer with the #16 pick far more valuable than 10 picks a season I mean how are we gunna get those tackles on kickoff
I knew Cromartie was going to be a playmaker back during his college days at FSU. Did you guys know that he started his collegiate careers as a wide receiver? Sort of explains his elusiveness once he gets the ball in his hands.
we can only pray that jason allen evolves into the player antonio cromartie has become in his second season.
I'm sorry but I didn't realize it was an attempt at humor. It's pretty obvious the choice is Cromartie, but I'm pretty happy with the strides Allen has taken. I think he's going to be a solid player one day.
I think the point here is that if you're going to take a shot at a guy, you might as well get your facts straight. Not only did Allen start 8 games, but he actually put up some solid numbers, so referring to him as a special teamer sort of makes your joke lose it's punch.
That shouldn't even be a question...we shouldn't have taken a safety at 16 anyway. He did start to play better this year and I'm hoping that he'll be a top player for years to come but I hope we never take another safety that high again. Ozzy rules!!
AJ Smith made a deal with the devil he hits on every draft pick Cromartie was a raw guy and now he is Deion re-incarnated
Different sorts of players, Cromartie is a ball hawk, Allen is a big hitter, so while Cromartie wins hands down, Allen may not be a scrub either. If we end up running a 46 defense this year, Allen's tackling and hitting will shine...just don't put him in coverages....yet...
Right now Cromartie. Looked like a playmaker in college and is looking like one in the pros. Definitely a guy I would want covering a tall WR. His cousin Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is very similar in most aspects and available in the upcoming draft.
Uh, there is no defending of Allen. He wouldn't have started had it not been for injuries, and the players in front of him weren't even good. He only made plays in games that took place in a monsoon, and on an even playing field he was out-performed by Lance Schulters, but that didn't stop him from running up field in celebration after tackling Chad Johnson after the first down. Maybe he was just impressed he tackled an actual NFL star? Yeah, so anyway, he'll go down as one of the biggest busts in Dolphins history. Nick's final '**** you' to the organization.
i would probly stick with Jason Allen he may not have picks but he can hit alot harder then Cramatie I know u guys are going think im crazy but i like Jason Allen Better
His best game was against the Eagles (7 Tackles, 6 Solo, and 2 INTs) where I'm pretty sure there was no weather problems, and in our only win of the year he lead the team in tackles for that game. Oh and to answer the question, Cromartie by a lot.
My God, how can someone be so wrong..... Jason Allen was very good in his playing time this season and in no way did Lance Shulters outperform him.
No, he wasn't. There were serious concerns about his knee, otherwise he would've gone higher. I'll agree that he had the highest upside for that position though.....
Cromartie of course. But, JA gave hope for his future with his play in the second half of the season. It was about time; honestly I almost gave up on him.
Well, for starters, the Phili game was in bad weather. Secondly, Schulters matched Allen's tackle total since he was inserted for Worrell against NY. The majority of both of their tackles came downfield, so it's not very easy to even evaluate it, but when gameday blogs on the sun-sentinel are stating the same thing that I'm seeing on telvision about Schuleters edging Allen then I know I'm not just imagining it. Let's also not forget Schulters was sitting at home before all this. There were several instances since he's been starting when Allen was clearly out of position, too. A safety coming up to make a tackle 9 yards downfield doesn't erase the fact he still has issues recognizing what he should be doing. I don't want the guy to fail, but after everything I've seen, I don't see how any Miami fan could think he's useful for anything other than a reserve role.
So Jason Allen leds us in Int's, was in the top 3 in tackles in half a season (actually a little less then half a season) in his first significant playing time for us, and he is only good for a reserve roll on a team coming off of 1-15 season? He pretty much was a rookie this season, and even then he played only half a season, and he was running stride for stride with Randy Moss and he is a back up only? Schulters, the same player who whiffed on an Int, it went through his arms and went for a TD, is somehow better then Jason Allen? Plus, Allen is a fearless tackler, he was our only player who hit people and knocked them backwards, ask Jacobs about his 5 yd fumble into the air after Allen whacked him in London...
I would pick Jason Allen because he started last half of the season and had 3 picks, he doesn't miss much tackles that been said we do need a shutdown corner. If not for Jason Allen who knows how many long runs we would have allowed this year. Remember the eagles how Westbrook was getting into the secondary with ease.
while all signs point to cromartie being a better cb in the nfl, and he currently is, I still believe that you judge a career at its end, not after 2 seasons.
I think if you asked us before the draft who would we pick between the 2 DBs, I would bet almost everyone would have picked Cromartie. When Jason Allen was announced a lot of people were not very confident of the pick. If the Dolphins went Cromartie most people here would have been a lot more confident and I hindsight would be right.
Well most of those people weren't very well informed then. Jason Allen was seen as a potential top 10 pick before the injury and put away much of his health concern with a great combine. Cromartie was #1 on my list, but Jason Allen was right there, along with a few others. Manny Lawson, Santonio Holmes and Chad Jackson were also on my watch list at #16.....
Cro is on of the top young corners in the league i can't believe we passed on him. Hard to find guys that big that are so fast.
I was huge on cromartie draft time.. when he was there with our pick I was like WTF why did we pass on him.. after tradign away surtain.. and yeah.. see my sig.
im sure he will pan out.. but I knew what Cromartie was going to be. being a FSU fan I seen cromartie in action
I remember watching him in high school because he played in a state championship game against my brother's school and the kid was a playmaker. He played WR, corner, and punt returner. To tell you the truth they could put him on a punt return or on offense and i think he could make some plays there too. Kind of like Deion Sanders.
