    I like that...build through the draft. ;)
Man, what I nightmare that move turned out to be.
Oh snap! They mentioned Beck...watch out!! ;)....I would like to have him back. :)
I really hope they do make this a priority. I really want him back, but maybe they see that other teams are not clamoring for his services, so why rush it? Maybe.

    In order of priority.

    1) Strong, Big Interior Offensive Lineman (Center/Guard)

    2) Physical cornerback who can handle Randy Moss (and replace Goodman)

    3) #1 WR, intially someone who can play STs too, as they grow into full time reciever role (if a rookie). Obviously a veteran wouldn;t play STs.

    4) Outside Linebacker who can hold Point of Attack, set the edge, and rush the passer.

    5) Back-up Nose Tackle behind the aging Jason Ferguson

    6) Big-play ILB who can blitz the QB effectively on occasion

    7) Upgrade at nickelback, ideally who can also play special teams.

    8) Punter... yeah, that's right. We play error free football, tight D, and a field-position game. Punting matters. Our guy was 19th in average gross distance per punt (NOT net, since I don;t want to take our poor punt coverage units into account).

While I agree with your analysis Barry, I think your order is a bit off.

Here is how I see it.

    1) Big-play ILB who can blitz the QB effectively on occasion

2a) Back-up Nose Tackle behind the aging Jason Ferguson

2b) Strong, Big Interior Offensive Lineman (Center/Guard)

    3) Physical cornerback who can handle Randy Moss (and replace Goodman)

    4) #1 WR, intially someone who can play STs too, as they grow into full time reciever role (if a rookie). Obviously a veteran wouldn;t play STs.

    5) General upgrade at Special Teams, even if it means we have a couple guys on roster who do nothing more than special teams

    6) Outside Linebacker who can hold Point of Attack, set the edge, and rush the passer.

    7) Upgrade at nickelback, ideally who can also play special teams.

    [/QUOTE]

I also appreciate your take on Brandon Fields, but unless a VASTLY superior Punter is available, I think they stick with him.

I strongly think that one pre-requisite the FO has after round 3 (Perhaps including) is they have to fore-see the person they are drafting would have the ability to be a special teams warrior this year.

    1. We need better depth at ILB, if we go with Channing and Ayodele as starters we need better guys behind them then Torbor, Bobby Carpenter makes sense because he is a special teams player.

    2. I'd like a Te to challenge David Martin as the guy who can play slot and go down the seam of the defense.

    3. A quality NT prospect would be great, Soliai may come into camp with his head on straight and be that guy, but I'd like another one.

    4. A #3 Cb who can cover all over the field, heck a #2 Cb who can start Day 1 would be nice, in my view it is imperative.

Teams went 3 wide last year and killed us time after time.

    5. A young OLB prospect who can play inside or outside.

    6. Full time kick returner, if it's to be Cobbs on kick offs then leave him back there all year, but I'd prefer a player who handles kick offs and punt returns and is explosive.

    7. One more DE/OLB to move into the rotation.

    8. a young running back who can push Ricky W and can play ST if needed.-0p

And I'd like to see Beck have some playing time in the preseason if we keep him, if not a #3 Qb who is a bit more of a larger athlete.

Why do you want to see Beck get some playing time in the preseason, its pretty clear hes the #3 QB and thats about all he will be here. I think the FO will do what they can to move him, just a question of if there are any takers.

If we are not going to resign Goodman then we need a CB as a top priority. Allen will be a FA next year and Im not sure we will bring him back after that, so Id like to have some depth in place this year.

What is the rush to trade John Beck?

    Welllll,

they signed wilson, berger, carey, crowder, bell.

so S and interior Oline at least have competition but are they set at that position?

I still think they'll look where I predicted in my guides. Sure we've signed guys but they like to have competition. They'll look at NT, CB, oline for depth and competition purposes, linebacker for competition..

Because with Penny's track record of never having played back to back 16 game seasons Beck is a sort of semi #2 Qb.

I think the FO would rather have a vet than Beck, and hope they can offload Beck for a draftpick to a team looking to take a chance.

I'd rather keep him then get a pittance draft pick for him.

We dumped McCown last season in favor Beck, why would we sign different journeymen and then move Beck?

Well apparently a nice hole at CB with Goodman making the rounds:

I'm starting to get impatient now, let's get a CB in here or re-sign Goodman. Don't think a drafted CB can step right in, unless we get a serious playmaker.jmo
