After all the trash talking Serra did all year about Hughes he "supposedly" is too hurt to fight, now. Ridiculious.

def. But now instead of fighting possibly both of them, he only has to one of them. And its not fair to Hughes on the fact that if he loses to GSP he loses his title shot. He had it already. He shouldn't have to get it again because Serra is hurt.

Punk out? He's got a herniated disc in his back. :001_rolleyes:

His title shot is with GSP. The bout is for the belt. Serra was forced to forfeit his title. He would have had to have fought GSP anyway after Serra, now it's just in reverse.

He is not giving up his belt, if you read the fine print it's for an INTERIM belt. Which means not the real one. And a herniated disc isnt as bad as you think it is. Esp. in a business where guys fight with broken ribs, limbs, on and on.

Fighters never fight with known injuries of any type of severe level. Sometimes they break a rib or hand in the middle of a fight and continue because they dont know the severity of the injury. No fighter would fight with a known broken rib, hand, limb, or herniated disc. The commision wouldn't even allow you to fight with a broken nose.

And the fine print is: Hughes vs.GSP for the interim belt. Winner of that fight, fights Serra for the undisputed championship. Make of that what you will. Its basically what was bound to happen in time anyway.

But Serra is no punk. He's a tough guy, and a good fighter with a very legit injury. He just does not like Hughes, and its basically because of how Hughes acted during the T.U.F. when Hughes and GSP were coaches, and Serra was a contestant. And if you watched that season, Serra has a right to not like him. He even said he will be rooting for Hughes to win for the first time ever, despite being friends with GSP, because he wants a piece of Hughes that bad.

Welcome Sethdaddy....glad to have you onboard. And yes I have been watching the seasons. I have lost alot of my admiration for Serra over this year. I dont like the way he has trash talked Hughes all year. Personally I hope Hughes gets through GSP and beats the crap out of him. I'm not sure if he can get by GSP though.

I'm neither a fan of Serra, and his trash talking was excessive and rather childish throughout this season.

But I think it's pretty bush league to suggest that a guy who fights for a living is punking out of a fight. I'm sure you get that and are just venting your frustration over the prickishness that was Matt Serra of TUF 6, which is understandable. He was incredibly obnoxious, and I was hoping Hughes would smash his face.

Maybe.....I was very dissapointed in the Serra portrayed on the new season. I was a big fan of his on the T.U.F. season. And the fight with GSP was awesome. But since then.....he's been completely different. I mean I still see signs in him of being a nice guy, and crap...but. Being competitive is one thing....he has taken it to a almost childish level.

I liked Serra instantly from his first time on TUF. He does seem like a really nice guy. But I'll admit, his disdain for Hughes was beyond obvious, and it didn't come across well at all, how much he bad mouthed him. When Hughes said (to paraphrase) "I have to turn the volume down when Serra talks about me", I felt a little bad. And there was a bjj guy Serra busted on in the prior series. Didn't like the guy for personal reasons, and called him out for never getting in he ring, but acting like his **** didn't stink. I admired that. He made no attempt to hide his dislike for Hughes, and Hughes was actually more behaved than ever before in his three times as a coach. More humble and less cerebral. So the contrast made Serra look really bad IMO.

I like GSP, think he's a class act, but Im rooting for Hughes in this one. I too wanna see Hughes vs. Serra.

I can't stand Serra. I've never liked him. He has probably the most annoying voice in the world. I was hoping to see Hughes smash him. He looks like even more of a tool now dropping out of the fight after all the talking he did. Hopefully he can come back 100% and get smashed.

His voice is funny! I love when he yells "dont you do it!", everytime one of his boys is on the verge of tapping.
