But if it's with somebody else, I know I can play football. They had the first crack at it and they dropped the ball, so we'll see what other teams do. It's their loss." Our loss. . Crowder your best work is 10 + yards down the field. . lets hope you go to the Pats and Ronnie and Ricky can bowl you over twice a year. . you aint all that. . lets get Bell resigned and leave Crowder out there somewhere. . how dare he come out shooting his mouth off when he is at best mediocre. .
I agree. I'd liked to have to have him resign but not some stupid amount of money. He always seemed to be near the ball on the run but never near the pass - I dont have any stats to hand but he must have missed the tip drills in practice? - maybe I've been spoilt watching ZT dominate the middle for so long but we certainly missed the int's this year
he pretty much has to say that sort of thing doesn't he.. wouldn't you? if he wasn't confident in himself we wouldn't want him at all, even cheap. This, imo, boils down to dollars. For the right price, he's a keeper for now. Holding on to him keeps the hole plugged (as opposed to creating a need) and allows us to spend assets elswhere "this" offseason. In the long run, I think he's a goner, but my feeling is they would rather hold off another year or so and fix "other" things first. Wait for the "right" guy, not just "another" guy to fall into our grasp. JMHO
Wow, calm down folks. This is probably like divorcing his first wife for him. I don't blame him for feeling slighted. He played pretty well this season. We missed him severely in the KC game. Let's hope we're not missing him in the 2009 regular season.
Nothing wrong with him being emotional, Im sure his feelings are hurt right now. Most guys overrate themselves and Im sure he is no different. He just doesnt have the tools to cope with it.
I don't know, I think his performance the last couple years is what has created the need at ILB, and not so much him leaving. Would it be that hard to find someone else at a more reasonable price, who could man the ILB spot in as quiet a fashion as he did? Maybe even upgrade for less?
yeah, theres still a chance that Channing is disappointed by the other offers and takes a hometown discount.
Yeah, I am still waiting to see him play in Miami... I mean he shows up, dresses up and then constantly trails plays.
Crowder isn't a bad player. He's not a game changer, but with him on the field there are much more pressing areas of concern.
THAT is EXTREMELY debatable. Neither defense played very well and I sincerely doubt Crowder would have made a difference. The weather was a HUGE factor in that game. Crowder has run his mouth all year about his pay - He has handled himself with a lack of maturity regarding his contract and frankly, I am not sure the trifecta wants him back. He is mediocre at best.
Look, Crowder is an emotional person. I could almost see this coming if we didnt sign him at one of the first opportunities we had. This is just his personality. If we end up re-signing him he will be more than happy playing for us next year. If not, then thats the way it ends up.
I think there is little doubt that the Trio wants more of a playmaker at MLB than Crowder has been. However, we also need to remember that he's not Zach Thomas. He's Channing Crowder and a level or so below Zach's play. He isn't chopped liver, but he has a propensity to miss/not make the big plays when needed. He's very solid against the run, but he does seem to miss being able to make the play that makes a difference in the games... The Trio will be looking for an upgrade if they can't get him at the contract level they think he's at...they have shown they are going to be prudent as possible versus the talent level at hand... His 'mouthing' off is probably more "negotiation-speak" than anything else...
Nah, I don't think it's just negotiation speak. If he wanted to keep his value and still give the same message he could of gone the, "We can't come to an agreement, want to explore other options, deserve a bigger contract, etc." Dropped the ball and losing out is a little much. Obviously, he's not a bright guy (running away from an accident. Doh, left my gun in my car). So I didn't really expect much different.
He has one ok year and thinks he deserves all the money in the world. He just dug his whole deeper to. You think Bill Parcells is in any hurry to resign a guy that thinks he is one of the best linebackers in the league when he is not.
When your safety is your leading tackler, you know your ILBs suck. Adiós Channing! Posted via Mobile Device
He makes too many mental mistakes that shouldnt be made, he misses too many tackles, and he doesnt make many spectacular plays. Some guys play bigger than they are, but at 250 Crowder plays smaller than he is... He may not find the money he's after out there. He is very ordinary.
control your boy!! seriously though, I'd like to see us bring crowder back. He's not as awful as some are making him out to be. He's a a serviceable LB. It would give us a chance to fill some other holes first. However, if he's expecting a huge payday... Then im not sure he's back at all
I don't think he goes to New England. He is still asking for a huge contract. The Patriots don't have all that much wiggle room as it is.
Do we know what his contract demands are? I seem to remember him saying he wanted to be paid like a starter rather than a backup, so I figured his demands would be fairly modest.
I love channing but i dont think hes big enough, strong enough, or fast enough.simple as that. I hope i'am wrong
I think the bigger problem are his instincts. He just dosen't react or read well enough at the NFL level IMO. He's steady but unspectacular. As for the "Crowder mouths off" stuff. Meh.... He's just dissapointed. He obviously want's to stay here but is realizing that he's not as highly valued as he'd like to be. I'd lash out a little too. I'd probably get so mad that I'd drive my truck into a tree in the parking lot and flee the scene leaving a gun on the passenger seat just to let em know I'm serious.
An emotionally mature professional should realize that, despite his bruised ego, this is a business... and that, as you say, for the right price he might end up still on the Dolphins team. Statements like this create problems in the relationship. Problems that needn't come up were Channing to exhibit a little less insecurity. It's disappointing that he doesn't seem to understand when to talk publicly and when to be taciturn.
Neither defense played well on the same field the offense plays on? In addition, KC's defense has been crappy all year, not ours. I guess smith wesson isn't what made men equal, the weather does, right? Bad weather usually makes defenses more dominant but in this one single case it's the opposite. I'm confused.
Crowder Crowder...I like you man. Your a funny guy, you speak your mind (in a good way) But man..you are terribly average. You said it yourself man, you just dont make big plays. I would love to have him back, but...truth is that he wont get top tier money, hell, he will be lucky to get above average money. I will miss him tho, i got to meet him, a very nice guy.
New England isn't the Top Dog anymore and signing a player like Crowder isn't going to put them into a situation where they are. Teams targeted Channing in several games this year and he really didn't make as many plays as he should have. His mental goofs just made that worse and he got beat up by a fat Patriots OL on national TV after running his mouth all game.
If he's so good why did Yeremiah Bell have more tackles than he did? When did a safety ever have more tackles than Zach Thomas? He could simply say nothing and if he feels slighted he can go prove he was worth it elsewhere I guess. I have no doubt he can be replaced in the draft. And he's about 10 years too young to be a LB for New England.
Well said. It's so funny, but EVERYONE in his situation thinks they deserve Top Money despite being in the middle in performance and talent. I like Crowder, wouldnt even mind seeing us sign him, but not for top dollar. If we are going to spend top dollar bring in a top guy!
Says the man that ran from a crash in the middle of the night/early AM... If we can survive losing ZACH THOMAS. We can survive losing you Mr. Crowder.
