I'll take my Toshiba laptop with 4 gigs of RAM and a 250gig hard drive (along with my 500 gig external hard drive)
for 999 i could build a very awesome computer. yeah it wouldn't utilize the most out of the FSB or what have you and it'd be running on PC architecture but I bet you it would kick your computers ***.
jesus uber nerds......i just was happy i got a mac.....didnt think this would turn into a whos dick is bigger contest......dear god...
well you should have figured! i'm glad you got a mac too. like i said i want one. i'm just also saying that for that much money you can build a very awesome PC.
im surprised dick was not blocked.....oh well...TOS says to type the word....if its blocked your good....if not....then it is ok
I'm so jealous. I want a MacBook SO BADLY. I had planned on buying one this month but I'm in "work share" right now and for the foreseeable future so big purchases are not on the agenda for the time being. As soon as I'm back getting 80 hour pay cheques I'll be good to go. Can't freaking wait. Congrats man.
Congrats Sick! I used PCs for years and I always had issues with one thing or another. There were always virus problems no matter how many virus scanners I put on them. I was always rebooting and within two years they felt old and slow. My Mac just runs. After four years it stills feels new. I've never had a virus. It may be b/c people don't write viruses for Macs, that's probably true. But I don't care what the reason is. I just care that I don't have to deal with it. I also like their tech support. When I've had questions I can usually just walk in a store and the guy fixes it right there and hands it back to me. There have been compatibility problems but for most of the stuff I do that's not an issue. And even when the compatibility issue arises, it's just one issue. Overall, switching to a Mac has just made my computing life much simpler.
good choice. I have a black macbook and it runs flawlessly. there are a few thins you should download such as stuffit expander and what not but they really are great. Plus Warcraft 3 runs great on it.
Not sure what that is. I'm guessing it's another virus program. I'm happy that now I don't have to know. I figure it's temporary anyways. Eventually somebody will figure out some virus to cripple that one too. That's what I like about my Mac, I don't have to think about it. My friends with PCs talk about new and improved virus programs or they're always updating the ones they have. I don't have to worry about that anymore. Someday it may change but I've had years of not worrying about it and I can't imagine ever wanting to deal with that hassle again.
+1 as a linux user for the majority of my time except that damn sound issue. thinking of doing a fresh install again...
How's that considering that I can Windoze on my Mac. Also, UNIX has been around for a long time and forms the backbone of the OS so you virus idea is kaput as well.
BUT you can't take advantage of Mac's bus architecture. Putting a nice dress on a pig doesn't make her a good prom date.
somehow i knew you were going to mention something about that unix-like operating systems FTW how's that
I don't hate Macs as much as I loathe "most" of the users. Most of your Mac users are so arrogant. Just can't stand the "I got a Mac and my **** don't stink" attitude.
I doubt that. I still have 2 PC's well over 4-8 years old that I let my parents have and run as smoothly as they did when they were first unpackaged. It doesn't matter if you're PC or Mac, you'll still get equally good mileage out of either if you treat them well and know how to fix the minor bumps that go along the way. Plus, you can't game on a Mac like you can on a PC.
"Work share" is when you stay employed by the company you are working for but there is not enough work to go around so everyone gets reduced hours. In terms of my situation, I've gone from getting 80-100 hour pay cheques and in some pay periods hitting 125 hours but NEVER less than 80 to feeling VERY lucky if I hit 60 hours. It's better than going on unemployment insurance but it REALLY sucks never really knowing that your job is safe from day to day. That is a reality of being in construction but the "normal" reality is you have short periods (a week or two) or reduced hours and then go right back to it but for the last 3-4 months it's been awful. The saving grace is that my woman just got a $13,000.00 a year raise so our situation is still the same accept I'm the one now that can't afford to buy anything...LOL!
2 years ? Hmmmmm I must do something right, my average ownership of my PC's is around 5 years. (present one was bought in April of 2005)
Exactly! My last PC lasted 7 and my laptop is going on 5. This whole Macs are better than PC's is just absurd.A computer is a computer, and it just depend on what you are doing with it. If you are doing video editing and the like, then a Mac may be for you. Macs are still way overpriced as all Apple's products are.
sigh..... i made a thread saying im happy i gotta mac...and it turns into a mac vs pc thread.... i dont care how long your pc lasted my dell laptop just **** the bed 2 nights ago....i got it in 2006.... i am a producer for a sports radio show....i will be editing plenty of stuff....this mac is for me....and thats all this thread was originally....im happy i gotta mac.... how come people dont jump into pagans threads and bash mustangs and talk about how they are happy with their toyota carollas ?!?
I am happy for you! I did state in my previous post that if you doing video editing then a Mac is for you. Sorry that we hijacked your thread. However I still hate the people who own their Macs for same reason they own their Hummers. Their Hummers never see anything but pavement and their Macs only do emails and surfing. ...Sigh.....
Im a switch hitter. I have a macbook(white) and i love it for personal stuff, banking, fun stuff...i like the lack of virus threats. but i still need my pc. Office just isn't that clean on a Mac, and Aol, like it or not its been my email forever and i need it, aol doesnt run well on it, and a few other small things. plus now that im getting into ecommerce with that luggage business...i kind of need both. but i do love the Mac for an average computer user like myself. its fast and efficient. boots right up, shuts right down. no spyware and hosecrap programs running for 8 minutes when all you want to do is restart or shut down.
That is good thing as well. If you don't know what you are doing on a PC, you could find yourself overwhelmed with malware and viruses(unless you have Linux). Unfortunately, I think that will change as Macs gain more market share.
