Music is a tough sell I suppose. Yu say you don't like a band and its fans immediately take to the defensive. Like I called them terrible or something. Its cool, I do it too sometimes.

That sucks. Like others have said though, it could be worse, you can have a significant other who finds you repulsive and rejects you at every turn...

Green Day has pretty much been at the forefront of a couple of musical revolutions and has sustained itself for quite a long time now. No one will ever be the Beatles or the Stones again, as media in general is to diversified and fractured to have those super mega stars anymore. But Green Day is probably the closest thing to it in the modern era (last 15 years or so).

Musical tastes are subjective, but I find it hard pressed to think Green Day is lacking creativity when their albums have pretty much been universally praised by critics and fans alike. Dooie has a completely different sound than their latest work and everything else in between.

I would be inclined to throw Metallica into that mix as well. In fact, they may be up for greatest American rock band ever.

Right, because the Foo Fighters have lit the world on fire...

Just post a fail picture or the failhorn or whatever and forget about it. I didn't attack YOU, just a band that couldn't give two ****s whether you buy their albums or not.

Its all subjective man. Like I said, people tend to take this **** personally. For instance, I have never felt that Springsteen was anything special. A couple of okay tunes, but nothing to cream my pants over. Others disagree. That's fine.

Personally, if you want to get into the semantics of it, Nirvana has had a greater impact on music and society as a whole, than the Foo Fighters. You can argue the merits of said impact, but its impossible to deny it.

Same goes for Green Day.

not really. green day was punk that they did bring to the forefront. then they went alternative when that was brought to the forefront by other bands. even then its not like there werent punk bands before greenday.

foo fighters have also been praised by critics and have a different sound. I believe foo fighters have also won grammies for their work as well as green day. by your standards the foo fighters are equal to green day.

metallica has always done their own thing i wont disagree with you on that.

 

Like I said, I am guilty of it as well. Except, the only time I have really gone off is when Eric wrote an article that was based on a ******ed premise.

He watched them win a game, and came to the conclusion that they were a losing franchise. Mind you, this same franchise is the reigning Western Conference Champions, has more finals appearances than any team (I think...) and the second most championships. Oh, and they have the best record currently in the NBA.

You can hate them. Laugh at them for losing to Boston in the Finals, call Kobe selfish. That is all well and good. But coming to the conclusion that the Lakers are a terrible franchise based off of a win is silly, and should be pointed out as such. Especially since he wrote that article just to get my reaction, as much as he denies it.

That's not AIC. He's not bad, but it's not AIC.

There's a lot to be said for longevity, consistency and a distinctive sound - especially when Green Day has been musically top-notch since day one. On that basis, there's not a lot not to like.

But I think the same of Foo Fighters, though; well-crafted songs, tight band - you may not like their music, but they're a good band.
