This question thread is a similar to Danny's as it has to do with majors and school. Do you guys know the best schools for business sports management? I want to take this a step further for those whose majored in this or its their current major and ask what classes do you recommend? I'm interested in writing articles/columns or just about anything football related.
The print business is going downhill due to al gore's invention of the internet. I don't know about sports management but you could do a major in business or maybe sports training. I think there's someone on here who has worked for professional teams before but I can't remember her user name but I have her on facebook. Want me to ask her where she went?
I dunno about the US but when you major in sports business/marketing over here the stuff you write is of the mindboggingly boring PR sort - if you write anything at all. Or do you mean in terms of academic papers?
Ooo. What I was basically thinking is that I want to do anything involved with football. I'd love to work with the draft and that's where I got the writing part from - writing scouting reports.
I see. You might want to send Simon a PN and see if he can get you in touch with someone who knows how to best pursue such a career. Or why don't you contact the resident NFL scout? He's bound to know a thing or two about how to get into the business. Also, I'd just drop guys like Lombardi at the National Football Post a mail and simply ask away.
Thanks. That was my plan, to get in touch with Simon and Tim. I've spoken to Lombardi a few times in the past - he's no help. All one-liners.
Oh, and check out George Mason University in Virginia. I happen to know that they have a sport management program with Charley Casserley as one of its instructors.
