I'd take a 12th round pick and a case of Budweiser.

Seriously, if we can get a 6th round pick out of them we have to pull the trigger.

Dallas could end up with no draft picks. That would be funny.

If we get a 3rd round pick from ANY TEAM, you can make an avatar that I will use for the first 4 games of the season.. The John Beck Fan Club avatar. You can even thrown in a picture of Cam Cameron if you want.

Now what are you willing to do if we cut him or deal him for a 6th or 7th???:tongue2:

we got a 7th for Travis Daniels, a worthless piece of trash. Beck has unproven potential to play QB. We can get at least a 5th for him. All this 6th or 7th talk needs to stop. I say 4th or bust. Too bad the Ravens got Flacco. We could really pwn them with Beck.

Cam or Mueller may still want to add Beck Jerry...you better hurry!

Seriously though, Beck isn't done IMO. I think he'll at least prove to be a solid backup someday.

First of all, I've got to be honest..
Calling any person a "worthless piece of trash" is going overboard. Sorry but it just goes against the grain IMO. It's not true and it's uncalled for.
As for Beck, he's no worse than an awful lot of #3 QBs, so I can't see just giving him away. We don't need to unload him so if we can't get a good deal for him we just keep him and let him continue to develop.

I wouldn't take a 6th for Beck and according to reports that was what we turned down last year.

Beck still has potential. He was thrown in there way too fast. He's only played what, 4-5 games? Some QBs mature quickly, some don't. Sitting behind Pennington all year definitely had to help.

Would he fit in a Linehan system? What about Detroit, they don't have anyone do they? No I'm not talking about Culpepper!

Do the Cowboys even HAVE a third this year anymore? ;)

Would be nice to offload him for a 3-4-5 but we will have to see.

If the Cowgirls are willing to give up a 5th round pick...pull the trigger. But that might be a reach, unless we can get a hold of R. Spielman. Now he would give us a 2nd, 3rd, & 5th for Beck.

it was a metaphor to his role on the roster at the time we traded him. he is obviously not an actual worthless piece of trash.

i honestly don't understand why people want to get rid of Beck so easily. i mean if we get like a 4th somehow i would say go for it in a heartbeat, but i don't understand why we would even think about trading him for a 6th or 7th. he never had a shot to prove himself with the fins yet. people say, ya he did last season he played in 5 games and started 4. but lets look at those games real quick.

(Keep in mind he was playing behind i believe a top 5 worse Offensive Line in '07, he didn't have any WRs to throw to, Justin Peele was our TE, he had no RB cause Ricky and Ronnie were injured, he was playing for a 1-15 team that doesn't favor QBs like the Patriots, and one of the all time worse coaching staffs in Miami Dolphins history)

Week 11: @ PHI (very cold)- 0 INT, 0 TD, 40.9%. bad game, but keep in mind it was freezing that day
Week 12: @ PIT (very cold)- 0 TD, 0 INT, 4 sacks, 60.9% not a terrible game, but got hit all day
Week 13: NYJ- 0 TD, 3 INT, 3 sacks, 59.0% bad game again, but sacked 3 times and getting hit all game long
Week 14: @ BUF (in the snow)- 0 TD, 0 INT, 3 sacks, 50% how can you have more sacks than pass attempts???

Week 17: CIN (didn't start)- 1 TD, 0 INT, 0 sacks, 61.9% shows what he can do in normal weather, with time in the pocket

that just shows you how bad he had it. he had to play in freezing cold weather in 3 of the 4 games he started with no talent around him and a terrible offensive line. he got injured in the Buffalo game cause it was so cold and he had no time in the pocket.

we have to give him another shot one time to redeem himself. at least he can be a nice backup behind Henne when it is Henne's time to shine. i just don't understand why he gets such a bad rep after 1 season with those variables. i have posted the same exact thing on other forums, and people still say he sucks when i have proof that he had it worse than any other QB and didn't get a fair shot or a chance to prove himself.

Because we had a probowl QB in place, there was no opportunity for him to be on the field.

I'm a huge fan of Beck and I think he can or will be a good Quarterback in this league if he doesn't play like he has a dynamite in his hand.

Thats the problem... he hasnt done that yet... IMO, he wont learn how to (and I was an avid Beck fan right up until he started playing preseason of 08 and unfortunately started where he left off in 2007) It was very disapppointing for me, I mean jesus, he threw about 10,000 balls all offseason with Lee, had 1 year of NFL experience over Henne, while McCown simply sucks, and he couldnt take the job... I was pushing for him to succeed, until he started to fail

I think he's a guy who needs to be given ample playing time, consecutive years of starting for example and then he will start to shine.

I must ask this then: Do you want to wait at least 2 years for Beck to "shine" with the Dolphins-and waiting 2-3 years while he gets through his learing curve? Or let Pennington shine with now, and then let a more talented and younger Henne "shine" after? What I am saying, is while we let Beck go through his learning curve, we could be winning games with Pennington during that minimun 2 year curve, and then by that time, he'll be 28, while Henne will be 25-26...

I'm not saying that we should keep him and let him start here. Don't get me wrong, I was just saying that's when I think he could shine - if he was given ample time to pick up NFL defenses, etc. Would I want him here now? I'd like to keep him, however I'm not ready to commit to him nor am I ready to commit to Henne. Let the best man win. Age doesn't mean to much to me in this case because its not like he is 28 and has been beat up from playing football. He went on a mission IIRC.

    I know what you mean.

Back to Beck. I'd like to keep him. We're not going to get much for him through trade, so why not just keep him and hope he develops into a solid back up QB for Chad Henne.
