I know he is not a Dolphin, but he is a Miami guy who got shot in his home early this morning. Bullet reportedly severed his femoral artery and he lost a ton of blood. He is in emergency surgery right now and is listed in "extremely critical" condition.

can't say I'm suprised. he wasn't exactly the type of person to have good karma following him. Never liked the guy, typical Canes product.

But no one deserves that. He will be in my prayers.

using clarett as an example of the products of OSU would be like using Ken Dorsey as an example from Miami.

Someone on another board who supposedly has a source at the hospital says that Taylor died on the operating table but it hasn't been released yet. Don't know if it is true or not, but there it is.

Or Bernie Kosar, or Jim Kelly, or Jerome Brown, or Jonathan Vilma or...well, or the vast majority of UM players who've never been in any trouble with the law.

Either way, Clarrett is the sole example from OSU. UM is known for producing murderers, convicts, and loud mouthed thugs with no respect for anyone. Any dispute of this would be pointless, it's as a fact.

Sean Taylor happens to be one of the nicest people you would ever meet!! He is a very, very generous person. My friend coaches a pop warner football team that won 3 national titles in a row, and Sean bought every single person involved with the team rings. They were all encased with diamonds and looked the size of SB rings.

you have absolutely no reason not to like the guy, but because he is a Cane you think he had it coming?

    Wow!

No, it's not. It's baloney. Every major program produces bad apples. I can name examples from every school, from Penn State to Notre Dame.

To dispute it is pointless, because it's obvious that you are clueless and biased on the matter.

Wanted to add: this guy is now saying that he was wrong, that Taylor is not dead, just in very bad shape. Like I said, I was just reporting the rumor, glad it turned out not to be true.

Thats not what my friend told me, and he's at the hospital right now. He said that no information is being released.

Could be true though because the people who work there would be the only ones who could have that info other than his mom or dad.

Seans house is roped off with 3 crime scene vans in the driveway.

I just got off the phone with my friend who is there at the hospital with his mother and father. He just now told me that at this momment Sean made it thru surgery and is still in very critical condition.

First of all, my thoughts and prayers go out to Taylor and the Taylor family.

You would think that being shot in the lower part of the body was a blessing, but I hear he was shot in the biggest artery in the lower part of the body and the blood loss is what has put him in critical condition.

Taylor definitely is not a saint, and this possibily in connection to some of his past events in life, but nobody is deserving of this . . . especially with his girlfriend and infant son at home with him, I hope they catch the bum/bums that did this.

My goodness, what can be said? I pray that Sean and his family pull through this tragedy.

He is young and in good health, he made it to the hospital so hopefully they will be able to keep blood in him that he may live.

Trust me, there is a lot more than meets the eye in the case where Taylor was put on probation. He was surely wrong by pulling a gun on someone who stole something from him though.

When he was a Cane, no one ever herd about him getting in trouble or even talking smack with people on and off the field. When he got that huge signing bonus it went to his head, and he was even getting into fights with his best friends. Ever since he went thru court, he has changed back to the Sean of old. He made up with all his friends by calling them or showing up at their doors to appologize.

I think this incident is by the very same people who targeted him last time.

    I agree,

I was listening to a Clinton Portis interview on this shooting, and he said that it could have happened to anybody. Like it was a bad luck thing.

I don't think so . . . all of the huge houses in Palmetto Bay, and they happen to go after Taylor (and they fired shots on top of it), I'm thinking he definitely knew the people who did this, or the people who did this had a connection with someone he knew.

It's going to once again look bad on Taylor and the UM program, but hey, we are used to getting negative opinions of the program and the former/current players, even tho the players change and the program is changing.

I still wish the best to Sean, and hopefully he makes a full recovery . . . he IMO is up there with Ed Reed as the best safety in the league.

Wait a minute kdawg, a man has his home broken into by armed thugs and they shoot him in the leg, and it reflects poorly on the Hurricanes program?

How about it reflects badly on these scum who would do such a thing?

Of course, but c'mon, u remember when Bryan Pata got shot, the brawl last year, the Merriweather and Willie Cooper incident, the 7th Floor rap song . . . all this fuels the media prespective of the Hurricanes . . . which has ALWAYS been seen in a negative light as a program of thugs . . . which is unfair.

Like I said earlier, Sean Taylor is definitely no saint, and he has done his dirt in the past . . . it seems like he has started fresh, but unfortunately I think this incident occured because of something that happened in his "dirt" phase of his past. All specualtion on my part of course, but its very unfortunate that this happened.

That really stinks for anyone to go through. If his femoral was
severed, it's really, really bad news. You can bleed out from that
    in a matter of minutes.

Bad thing about some dirt is that it's hard to just wash off and
walk away like you were never dirty. Not saying this is what's happened
in this case at all, but, it's true.

He is not a saint, lets get that straight. You need a link?

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2106416

I don't have something against all Canes alumni. There are plenty of great Canes in Pro Football that represent the U very decently. The most admirable would have to be Reggie Wayne. The things that really drag down UM's reputation are stories like this one...

    http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1G1-62925006.html

Then you have players like Kellen Winslow II, Michael Irvin, and debatably Warren Sapp, that make their school look like a joke.

It doesn't help when you start brawls with your opponent either.

I am also aware that it hasn't always been that way in Miami, and that the recent years of embarrassment do not do justice to the many great players that have played for the Canes. But you can not sit back and completely act appalled by the idea that someone would consider Um to be a source of lesser character players.

I like seeing Vinny Testeverde play into his grave. I love watching Dan Morgan as a linebacker. Edgerrin James, Reggie Wayne, Frank Gore, Clinton Portis, Vernon Carey, and many other are very admirable players that UM can be very proud of. But unfortunately, they should be embarrassed about a few too many also.

And for the record, I hate Marice Clarett. he had an extremely high level of talent, and he had a great college and pro career ahead of him. But he couldn't follow the rules, and he made himself look bad, along with his entire university. That can't be forgiven, not after all the chances he was given.

Sean Taylor, get well soon, you deserve life, but you don't deserve your job.

Sean's house is a half mile from mine, and I've lived here almost 40 years. Not one break in, of the houses. Some cars yes so to me, it was planned.

Unbelievable, so do tell what exactly M. Irvin's drug addiction has to do with Sean Taylor being shot in the groin during a home invasion robbery?

Or willie smith being arrested for drugs (of course) or Dan Sileo being run out of U of M?

Taylor was at home minding his own business, he was targeted for a robbery, if one wishes to paint with such a brush, perhaps you could start with you know...the armed robbers?

Yes I have, I know the history of the UM's less then savory characters, nevertheless, that has nothing to do with Sean Taylor's current situation at all, he was the victim of a crime, all that other "stuff" has nothing to do with it.

Michael Irvin, Warren Sapp have nothing whatsoever to do with man fighting for his life after being a victim of a violent crime in his own home with his girlfriend and his child present.

I'm not gonna talk about his past anymore, because this thread is dedicated to him and his hopeful full recovery. I'm sorry I even mentioned anything on it, I was just speculating why this may have happened. It really has been a violent year in South Florida between the BSO killings and young kids getting shot, worst year in recent memory.

I just heard this news and I'm in total shock. Sean Taylor was one of my favorite players ever, I loved him so much. I have his signed photo over my bed and his jersey in my closet. I am just in shock, it feels like someone I know really well this has happened to. :(

I hope you get well Sean and I'll pray for you.

BTW.....Again, for anyone thinking this is "he got shot in the leg"...If you've ever seen or tried to treat somone with a femoral severing...It's more graphic and terrible than you can possibly believe.....(Don't ask me how I know)...

That young man is very, very, lucky to even be alive right now.
