Dwyane Wade is completely cursed when it comes to game winning buzzer beaters. He's got to be like 0-for-5 to 10 since that Jazz game early last season. Doesn't matter though. This team simply can't nail both free throws to save its life.. almost any trip to the line late game.

Hopefully we'll take care of business in OT. We really need this game.

Wow. Jimmy Clark is THE worst referee in the NBA by far. He's made horrendous calls both ways in this game. Every time I watch an NBA game that he officiates, it's a drag to see. The thread on RealGM's main boards about how the hell this guy got an NBA gig is well deserved.

Beasley is a ****ing beast; scored the last 12 points for Miami to bring them back from 8.. he's got 17 points in the quarter.

Unfortunately, we don't have a single big capable of grabbing a rebound when Kobe misses with 18 seconds left and the game tied. Bynum with the easy put back.

Great effort by the team on the road against the Lakers, though. Can't really expect much more. I'll take the season split with LAL any day, especially in two close games.

Sorry for chiming in late but what the hell is up with Quinn playing the entire 4th quarter with Chalmers on the bench?
Chalmers is so much better I don't get it.

I didn't see the first half. Did Chalmers get injured? 9 minutes is very odd for him. He usually hits 25-30+ even when he's shooting poorly. Couldn't find anything from Ira's blog aside from first quarter foul trouble, but I did find this bit interesting:

I also agree with many of the blog comments; Daequan Cook is emerging into one of the best reserves in basketball. It's not just his shooting, which has been lights out, but boy has he grown into a consistent on ball defender. He's #4 on my "Untouchable" list behind Wade, Beasley, and Chalmers. I wouldn't move him unless it's in a package for an All-Star big.

Cook or Kapono? Cook has been wet this year, and he is just raining them today...

I had some early doubts about Beasley being a bit too finesse with his game, but man was I wrong..... This kid can flat out play.... I'm starting to really, really like what I'm seeing out of Beasley..

We have a very solid foundation with Wade and Beasley, now we just need a little more size and we are set... I'd like to see Marion packaged out of here and Beasley inserted in to the starting lineup and given more time on the floor.

seriously, i think he stopped smoking. he's so much more agressive, has more hang time on his shots and looks like he knows where to be on defense.

he made some awesome shots last night, that are a far cry from the spot up 20 footers he's used to taking.

also, quinn for the entire fourth quarter needs to stop. if nothing else, play wade and cook in the backcourt together.

That one shot where he kind of hung in the air on the baseline... and then almost threw the ball in w/ 1 hand was sick. Great body control on that play...

I'm getting excited about him. I'll be honest, I was a little concerned w/ how uncomfortable he looked out there in the beginning. It can be expected b/c of how drastically he had to change his style from being the only guy to playing along side one of the best players in the world... but it still was unsettling...

Hopefully he can keep this up. More and more of his minutes are coming w/ Wade on the court... than when Wade's on the bench...

The thing I have noticed is how awkward it was early in the season when Wade and Beasley were on the court together.

That has changed. they play really well off of each other now.

This team is beginning to take shape...Cook is a keeper..and you are beginning to see the nucleus of our next championship team.

we add a Amare Stoudmire to this group in 2010 and we will win several championships.

I wouldnt say they play really well off each other right now...

But they've made huge strides. It was so painfully awkward in the beginning... and now they seem comfortable. There have been a few times when they werent on the same page, but they are comfortable playing together... which is huge. You cant to that point of knowing what the other is thinking until they are comfortable w/ each other. They are comfortable... so now they can start to really feel each other's game out...

heard this on the radio, so i don't have a link. but apparently there are talks between the Heat and Toronto about trading Marion for Jermaine O'Neal. If someone mentioned this i apologize as i didn't see it.

i would make it in a heart beat. Marion doesn't give us a dynamic(offensively atleast) that beasly can't do as well if not better. Jermaine will help open up everything for everyone else, which ,no offense to joel anthony, by being a post presence that we just don't have right now.

Plus his contract runs out in 2010 and the reports say we are trying to include banks in the deal.

they mentioned this in yesterday's miami herald too, and i like the idea (since his contract is up in 2010), but you have to wonder why the raptors are doing so bad with him.

i know he has a tendency to want the ball more than he should get it, and doesn't pass much. i hope he doesn't do that if he comes here.

Its not that bro, trust me above all else he wants to win. Him and Bosh do the same thing, they dont compliment each other at all. He does his best work as a 2nd option/ paint player. But in Toronto him and Bosh wanted to take up the same area and it didn't work. And of course they arent going to let Bosh walk so, he becomes odd man out.

The thing that Marion provides that Beasley doesnt is activeness...

Marion is always active on the offensive glass w/ tip backs and such. Beasley needs to be more aggressive in that area...

I'm sure that problem will be addressed with the player we get in return. ESPN was reporting yesterday that Marion is "unhappy" in Miami and that a trade was going to eventually happen.. Hopefully sooner than later..

Marion / J.O. talks are heating up in a serious manner. Hopefully it goes down, because Marion doesn't offer much to this system. He's basically a more athletic / versatile Udonis Haslem, even now without the outside shot. Jermaine O'Neal, although injured often, gives you an inside presence who can block shots with the best of 'em. I do this deal in a heartbeat, especially since it may require Toronto to take back Marcus Banks.

Bryan Colangelo is still in love with Shawn Marion, by the way. That helps.

I offered Marion, Wright, 2009 and 2010 1st rounders for Amare in NBA 2k9. It worked.

    Do it, Riles.

    Here we go...

    http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basketball/heat/sfl-flspheattrade18sbjan18,0,3149618.story

Hell of a deal if it goes through. We avoid making the potential mistake of giving Boozer a huge contract in 2009, all while adding to our spending money in 2010. Getting Marcus Banks' worthless $4-5 million off the books is huge for us. J.O., Haslem, and Blount all expire in 2010. Team options for James Jones and Dorell Wright I believe. We're talking over $40 million free, in addition to Wade's $14-15 million, but he'll be re-signing for about $18 million per. We'll have Beasley, Chalmers, and Cook on the books for a total of absolutely nothing. Chris Bosh or Amare, how would you like to win a couple of titles all while enjoying the beautiful Dwyane Wade-STD'ed night life of South Florida?

J.O. isn't a bad two year rental at all. He'll miss quite a few games, but probably not as many as Shaq. But while he's available, he'll get you 14-15 points down low, grab 8-10 boards, and block a couple of shots per game. His presence alone is good enough to compete with the top end teams in the East at least to make for an interesting 6-7 game series. Like I said before the season: Any deal that nets us a big man who expires in 2009 or 2010 for Marion, and drops Marcus Banks from the books.. is a great one.
I'll take it. I don't think we'll be able to top Cleveland, Boston, or Orlando within the next two years, but we'll be able to compete. The goal would be grabbing the 4th or 5th spot with a golden opportunity to hit round two.

Check out J.O.'s game log before his most recent injury:

    12/14 vs. NO - 37 mins, 19 pts, 7 boards
    12/15 vs. NJ - 28 mins, 14 pts, 6 boards, 2 blocks
    12/17 vs. DAL - 38 mins, 19 pts, 7 boards, 3 blocks
    12/19 vs. OKC - 15 mins, 5 pts, 4 boards, 1 block
    12/20 vs. SA - 37 mins, 24 pts, 10 boards, 1 block
    12/22 vs. LAC - 34 mins, 23 pts, 9 boards, 5 blocks
    12/26 vs. SAC - 39 mins, 36 pts, 9 boards, 2 blocks
    12/27 vs. POR - 35 mins, 17 pts, 4 boards, 3 blocks

We're talking about 7/8 games of consistency at the center position.
