What about that Consequences Creed guy? He's no good?

He's ok, has no real character yet, IMO.

I actually watched some TNA Impact Saturday morning when I was flipping through the cable channels. For me, it reminds me a lot of WCW back from about 5-6 years ago.

    - Their gimmicks are horrible. Consequences Creed is a nice enough guy, but he doesn't have the lanky frame of a boxer, and the fro doesn't really fit with an Apollo Creed character. Plus, it's a gimmick that's stale by about 20 years. There's also some lame Sarah Palin lookalike backstage. Problem with that is that Tina Fey has already done the best Sarah Palin impression, this lady looked like she was imitating Tina Fey imitating Sarah Palin

    - The Old vs. New storyline is okay, but guys like Nash, Steiner, and even Sting really shouldn't be in the ring any more.

    - I hate Don West on color commentary. He's absolutely putrid.

    - I did like the backstage vignettes, the sitdown interviews, and the general focus on the in-ring product. Seems like TNA has it down where the backstage stuff sets up the feuds in the ring, not vice versa. This is an area I actually thing they're doing better than WWE at.

    - The product still comes off as minor league at times, but there's still a lot of potential there. With the right writing, I could see TNA getting hot, and while it may never be bigger than WWE, I could see them giving them a run for their money.

I'm not really a fan of Punk. I find him to be very vanilla and boring.

The lady playing Sarah Palin is "Daffney" from the old WCW days. If you recall, she played a crazy ***** who seconded David Flair to the ring.

Also, no one ever seems to do the old vs. new storyline correctly. It has shown up multiple times and always falls short. I don't really get what is so hard for people to understand.

At least TNA made the old guys heels, that is somewhat rare, but ultimately, you have to feed the older guys to the younger ones. They won't get a rub by spanking the younger ones every time the face off. It makes the youngins look overmatched and the fans don't take it seriously at that point.

I enjoyed Raw last night. I am a sucker for battle royals and multi man tag matches though. I subscribe to the theory that more people involved = more opportunities unpredictablity.

Although...the final match was so easy to predict that I was able to nail who would be eliminated in what order and what the final outcome would be.

But still, good suff last night and JBL is drawing heat with this angle. Fans started chucking stuff into the ring. That is a good sign for the WWE.

I found myself greatly enjoying RAW last night as well-especially during the Divas condensed Battle Royal (seriously, was that the shortest Battle Royal in history or what?), but not for the match itself-Santino's commentary had me cracking up. Especially when the "Superfan" attacked Melina-he completely stayed in character and his typical guy catfight comment "This is awesome!" made me literally laugh out loud.

And my favorite, Jericho is a friggin' heat machine these days. He has reached the "doesn't need the belt to be over" status that Rock and Austin had, and HHH has now, IMO.

I thought it was a pretty good RAW too. Although I think the 'Legacy' group is going to be a huge bomb. Like I said last week none of those guys (minus Orton and possibly Ted DiBiase Jr.) look or acts like stars, plus will fans really believe someone like Rhodes, Manu or Snuka can beat the mid-card guys? It was also pretty predictable that Manu was going to lose too.

I'm actually really hoping once Christian returns that him and Jericho start up a stable, now that would be a team to build a TV show around. Jericho, Christian, Tomko (if he doesn't get himself fired before), John Morrison and The Miz, now that's a stable that could wrestle, talk on the mike and draw heat.

yes he does... i am liking him more by the week. could be that i am not a Rey fan, and like seeing him get squashed, but i think it is more than that. he does play the psycho well, and i am even seeing a little Bruiser Brody in him.

I agree about the Legacy comment. Orton running his own group is kind of...odd to me. They are billing him now as the "viper," which are pretty much, solitary creatures. Having him surrounded by other second generation stars kind of negates that whole image in a way.

Also, I think Jericho as the leader of a group is money waiting to be made. Christian and Tomko might be too big an entity to tag along (especially since I think both of those guys end up on Smackdown), but I liked the lackey storyline they were doing with Jericho/Cade and think they could continue doing things like that going forward.

Have Jericho pick someone from his opponents life (a fellow wrestler obviously) and use them as his lackey/miuscle for as long as he fueds with them. Then, he dumps them afterward and moes on to another lackey for his next fued. They can bill him as a parasite who uses these young guys as hosts to do his bidding and that eventually, it will come back to haunt him.

Perhaps you go so far with it as to get him a title shot with lumbejack rules where all the lumberjacks are former sidekicks of Jericho? It could be a nice way to end the story arc over a long period of time.

Interesting indeed. If they go that route, I hope they precede it with Jeff Hardy going psycho over who attacked him and have him going after every heel superstar on Smackdown/ECW, a la Stone Cold after his return from injury after getting ran over.

I have read ALOT of good things about the new "Wrestler" movie coming out from wrestling legends that make this movie sound real good. Here's what Foley says about it.

    http://www.slate.com/id/2207076/

PS. Vince hated it, so that means its real close to how it really is. He hated Beyond the mat as well.

The script was written for Mickey Rourke. Darren Aronofsky was given the option of a much smaller budget and Rourke, or a bigger budget and Nick Cage. He was pressured to use Cage so he went with Cage. But after a little while, he didn't feel that it would be the movie he wanted it to be, so he asked Cage to step aside so that Rourke could assume the role again.

Nick understood and did just that, to his credit. The movie studio ended up chopping the budget when this happened too. A credit to Aronofsky and his resolve to stick to his vision.

Also, Vince is a control freak, that is the only reason he didn't like it. He had nothing to do with it. Had WWE films produced it or had its hands in it, I think he obviously would have loved it.

HDNet offered a TV deal to Ring of Honor. That is pretty cool. ROH is probably running the best shows in the country from a pure workrate/wrestling standpoint. No word on whether they have accepted or not. If they do, there is a good chance that my former trainer will be on TV regularly. :hi5:

I don't watch either TNA or WWE with any regularity, I usually turn to my DVD collection when I want to see them ... but a ROH show would intrigue me. I'd probably check it out, providing it's not on at like 3:00 a.m.

old school fans, check out the match lineup for the Starrcade dvd. the link gives a preview of it, and it has complete match list of the "Top 25" matches from Starrcade.

there are a few real head scratchers, but overall, this really looks like some good stuff on here. it confirms that Magnum TA was supposed to take the title from Flair at Starrcade the year he was almost killed in a car accident. and the write up is correct, he had superstar written all over him.

love the Iron Man Tournament and Tag finals matches. very cool. also love the Malenko/Eddie Guerrerro match included. i could watch those two in the ring anytime any place. they were awesome together.
