Greetings from the land of crabs and National Boh beer! I am a Ravens fan here to see your thoughts on the upcoming playoff game. (I'll even be making the trip down there! Hooray!) I did, however, grow up a Dolphins fan. I was three years old when the Colts left, so we didn't have a hometown team. Sometime around 8 years old I latched on to Dan Marino and the Dolphins. I thought he was the best QB ever. I had a friend who was a 49ers fan, and it just broke my heart when I went back and saw that they had beaten the Dolphins in a Super Bowl. The AFC championship game against the Bills hurt. I also remember a regular season loss to the Colts a long time ago... they lost in the last few seconds by a Colts defensive TD. I think they had been undefeated to that point. I remember wanting to cry. hehe Also, I think the (I believe) 2003 Dolphins team was my favorite ever in Madden. Anyways, I stayed a Phin fan for a while even after we got our own football team. It took a few years, but the Ravens earned a spot in my heart in 99, and then the Super Bowl year in 2000 was just magical. I was hooked after that. I still followed the fins from time to time, but with Marino gone, and the Ravens occupying my time I slowly lost track of the Dolphins. So that's it. The first few times the Ravens and Dolphins played I was really split... but the Fins don't feel like my team anymore. I do root for them playing anyone else though. So if you guys win Sunday I'll still root for you to go all the way... but I'm hoping you don't win Sunday. Sorry!
It's tough to explain... but my hometown team didn't exist before... I guess it's like being close to your nephew, but then having a son of your own someday. Still root for guys, but it's not the same. Make any sense?
Welcome, llamablaster -- I actually am probably one of the few on the board (although I don't know for sure) that is understanding of your change of allegiance. I was a Giants fan in my "former life" but converted to a Dolphins fan after meeting, dating and eventually marrying PhinsFanHusband. All that being said, I made the smart choice; you, however...??? LOL Welcome to the forum --
Welcome to the site brother. You may notice that this is a fan site like few other. We respect other teams as you do and you are welcome here. Good luck on Sunday. I hope for an injury-free game for both teams.
Welcome, glad you found us, you'll be glad you did. Best fan site on the net. Poor choice of teams, good choice of fan sites.
