The Madden Beatdown Thread

im using a new playbook. i was quickly humbled by aboome as he uses the same book and knew everything that was coming.

P.S. aboome will pick u off if the ball doesnt make it from the QB to the WR in less than a second.

So basically, I was down 24-0 in the first half. Down 31-9 with 7:18 remaining, and then tied it up with 3;16 still on the clock. I'm not sure how I pulled that off. But this should be a lesson to everyone. NEVER GIVE UP!!! Even if youre down 22 with 2 mins left in the 3rd.

Last 10 games in career are ALL LISTED AS QUIT. The guy is quitting and still getting a win. Most of the games are 0-0, some are 0-##. Im guessing this dude quits before the kickoff and the opponent counts the game and he gets a win because of something he did. That sounds like a really fun way to play Madden. 418 games of absolute BS, for what? Just to be ranked in the top 5? I bet this dude would lose to everyone in our league.

i'll be on later tonight during the BAL @ DAL game. Maybe I'll play one of you chumps before or after the game. And when I say chumps, I mean Hostile specifically. Hostile, I'm gonna mail you a box of cookies after I cough all over them. I havent slept for more than 30 mins at a time over the past 3 days. U wished it upon me, now you must die. U will feel the wrath of Tony Gonzalez (in madden, not in tomorrows game)!!

that int should have never happened. TO broke off his route the instant before i threw it. That was one of the most miserable games ive ever played. i was burried from the opening play, and it just kept getting worse.

yeah that should help.

i gave the answer a new offensive line, and some playmakers. everyone else should trade a few players to shawn and then answer. if youve got allstar players that are never going to see the field, then trade them.

 

I just played the most arrogant douche bag of alltime.

I met him in a quick unranked match. I smoked him early and often and he quit before halftime.

So I send him a message asking why he quit a game that doesnt even count.

He replies and asks for a ranked match. I told him I wanted to check his career first to see if he was a DC glitcher. I figured he may be trying to set me up for revenge or something.

So then he starts sending me messages calling me a ***** and saying im scared to play him. I told him that we cant play again without meeting in a lobby (where i can see his career).

He agrees, and we play.

He said that he wasnt trying in the unranked game and that wasnt his real offense. Sure enough, he tries the same crap. I pick him off twice in the first half and go up 14-0 after two long drives. 2nd half i throw a bad pass into traffic and he scores. Then I get forced to punt, and he gets Sproles on a wheel route for a TD, tied. So I use up 6 minutes on the next drive and take a 21-14 lead and leave him with only 1 timeout.

This is where it gets interesting. He gets the ball and I absolutely rape him on 1st and 2nd down. 3rd and 18, he rolls out left and hits LT over the middle while spinning backwards with philip rivers. LT gets 2 blocks and takes it to the house with 0:52 remaining. 21-21, right? NO! He goes for 2, toss left, he gets it easily. 22-21, damn.

He lines up for an onside kick, and im licking my chops hoping for a FG. He auibles back to a regular kickoff, and so do i. Now he has his hands team on the field, stupid. Miles Austin takes 6 yards deep in the endzone and runs it right up the middle and plows over nate Kaeding and takes it all the way. I slid at the 2 and then kneeled out the clocked and kicked the GW FG.

24-22. I win.

WRONG!

As I type this he is constantly sending me messages telling me that I suck, Im a *****, saying im afraid to play him. The guy just wont accept defeat. I owned him twice in a row, and hes still trying to tell me that Im afraid of playing him. In the unranked match, he didnt score. In the ranked match, his only scores were on fluke plays. His offense is basically 3 plays. Deep post, pwned, huge sack. Quick out, pwned INT. Screen right, pwned, huge loss. EVERYTIME. He has beat some high level players and thinks he is the ****. Too bad skill level means nothing. He wouldnt believe me though. He was level 18, average opponent level 12, and was 52-10 before i beat him. I really dont know how he got that record playing the way he does.

Just one more douche in the pond...

I just played a guy ranked in the top 800. He ran power off tackle the entire game, with the occasional miracle play in his favor. He got up 21-7. I made it 21-14, and then got the ball back. As I'm driving for the tie in the 4th quarter, I get held to 3rd and 9 after Witten drops a TD in the endzone. So it's 3rd and 9, and I plan on going for it if I don't convert. I take another shot on a seam route, because he left it open on 3 of the past 4 plays. This is what happens.

EA SPORTS World - Incomplete pass? or fumble?

The play was reviewed, and I thought it may come back as incomplete because HE DROPPED IT. Play stands. He did not maintain possession going to the ground. I dont even think he got both feet down before the ball came out.

I swear it over and over again. But I hate the fumbles in Madden! I just got handed a loss on a BS play. Maybe I lose in OT anyway, but this is a ****ty way to go out.

I'm writing a Pittsburgh Offensive Playbook Guide. I've only broken down one formation so far. But I've got a lot of great plays that I can add. I plan on writing about one formation at a time. If anyone wants a copy of the unfinished version, I can email it to you. Hostile, I know you'll be wanting a copy.

 

im trying superstar mode, and i gotta say, it is completely ******ed. You only get one play to choose from, and it usually sucks. you cant set your audibles pregame. you have to change them in the game everytime. the camera angle is horrible. if its supposed to be first person, then shouldnt the camera be through the eyes of the player? instead of 15 yards behind their head? as the qb, you cant even see the field. good luck finding someone open downfield. also, the defensive AI is insanely jacked up. like 4 times a game i get blasted by a defensive lineman coming free straight up the middle. i watch the replay, and my OL moves out of the way to let him through. its so gay. and in man coverage, instead of trailing the WR, the defender runs in front of the WR. NICE! its really pissing me off. its the worst simualtion of football ive ever seen. oh, and on top of all of that. my kicker misses 30 yard kicks like its nothing. my team calls timeouts when i dont want them to. and i cant ever go for it on 4th and 1. i just lost a game because on 4th and goal at the 1, my kicker misses. then peyton manning gets the ball in OT and theres nothing i can do but watch him sim his way down the field for the win. WTF. my kicker blows, he never makes anything!!! so screw suparstar mode. its, by far, the worst feature of madden 09. makes me want to gouge my eyes out with a fork.

unless that LB is covering a spot 15 yards down the field. or if you throw a bullet pass, the LB will jump and get it everytime if its over his head.

 

i have fallen in love with playing unranked. dolphins everytime. everyone else brings their giants, pats, steelers, cowboys. they all fall. my new ted ginn offense is extremely hard to stop.

my newest defensive strategy is called failure by deception. most people will run the ball to a certain direction according to the way your defense is alligned. so i play dumb and let them succeed for a few plays. once someone thinks they can run the ball on you, they will keep running it the entire game. but when they think im overloading left, and i absolutely crush them from the right, they got only one answer. they always go to playaction. they think im selling out to stop them. but im really not. i account for playaction on every play. i always attack the QB off the edge. so when they think they got me, i really got them. one huge sack, and they are now pissed and have no shot at scoring. then its ted ginn time. most folks quit after they are down 2 scores. but the good players keep playing and trying to beat me. every once in a while i get blown up. but with my new offense, even the best defenders are having trouble with me.

nother quick story. played a guy yesterday that kept running all curls from a 4wide set with the chiefs. well, their WRs all have 90+ jumping. he was using precision passing up, and they were rocket catching everytime. i tried every defense in the book, but he kept throwing to different guys, and even in tight coverage they would launch up and get the grab. i couldnt even hit stick them to knock it out. this guy had good stick skills. took me till the 3rd quarter to stop him on a drive. but he didnt stop me once, dispite having a very good d. he quits after i stopped him. then we message back and forth. i tell him how much i dispise the rocket catch. he says hes a pro, and hes gonna win madden challenge next year, and hes gonna be on madden nation on espn winning money. i couldnt help but laugh. he cant possibly think that hes gonna win anything if i scored on him every single time. not to mention, EA is porbably gonna remove the RC animation for madden 2010. they tried to get rid of it by removing the WR strafe, but peeps can still do it. so i just told him he was ruining the game for everyone. oh, and i was using Miami, who's secondary is awful. so i doubt he would ever be able to have that much success against a team with a nasty secondary like oakland or philly.
