How long until Hardy pawns the belt to score some drugs? I'm surprised they put the belt on him here and not at WM.

 

And with his reign as WWE Champion, Jeff Hardy has not only became a Triple Crown Champion, he has held every title that existed during the Attitude Era and is just a U.S. Championship reighn away from being Grand Slam champion. As you can tell, I'm a Jeff Hardy fan, so I'm hoping he doesn't screw this up.

 

im a big jeff hardy fan. this might get me to watch raw again.

my bad. i guess its been a while since i watched wwe.

 

I took off my dvr record sets for WWE. I just cant sit through them anymore. Too much talking, not enough wrestling, and when they do its watered down predictable garbage,IMO. Still watch TNA.

 

Awesome promo by Jericho, even better that he just walked away and didn't attack Hacksaw.

Another Kane stalking a diva angle? Really? This is exactly why I hate his character as he's boring, stale and bad mike skills.

question: is the wrestler formerly known as Duece really Snuka's son? or are they just finding a way to align him with the "Legacy" faction that is slowly forming?

 

Deuce is, in fact, Snuka's boy. He has a good look and can go in the ring if given a chance. I wouldn't mind seeing him slowly join the group though. No need to rush a secondary angle like this.

Anyone ever watch the old AWA wrestling on ESPN Classic? Watching a program from 1987 currently and it is a trip. Madusa is uber young and some of the future stars of the WWE/WCW are here as well.

I have seen Mick Foley on there once or twice and some other mid card level people I recognized.

 

i used to watch it, when it was first run back in 1987, when i was a senior in high school... insert age joke here.

Yeah I wasin first I think. Curt Hennig and Rick Rude are prominent sometimes on the old tapes. Plus, I always get a trip out of Adrian Adonis and Paul E. Dangerously in acid wash, tapered jeans and a skinny tie. Who knew that that would be the style again today?

I wish ESPN would replay some of the GWF stuff from the early 90's. I loved that Texas fed. Raven as Scotty the Body, Sean Waltman as the Lightining Kid and an uber jerk. Barry Horowitz as a winner. The Patriot, A young Harlem Heat known as the Express, Eddie Gilbert, Cactus Jack, Doug Gilbert and others.

Good times.

 

HELL YES! I used to love GWF. Aw the memories, that was some fun TV and you're right ESPN should replay some of those shows. Don't forget Buff Bagwell as 'The Handsome Stranger'.

The best though was the Coast to Coast Connection. Rod Price and someother dude as the evil heel dominant tag team. They were like Tully and Arn...but not.

Or Chaz. Chaz was great. Al Perez and let us not forget, Skandar Akbar.

 

Yeah right after I typed it I knew it was wrong. I thought it was the Ebony Express though. I know they wore green and black tights and Booker''s was sans dreads.

I also know I laughed when they came to WCW as Harlem Heat (knowing they were from Texas, freaking racist WCW bookers) and them having the same names, before changing them shortly thereafter.

I think they whipped the crap out of Joey Maggs on a Satruday Night show once. But then again, who DIDN'T kick Joey Maggs's ***?

 

I freakin' loved Chaz, between him and the Lightning Kid aka Xpac they were my favorites! Haha. Wasn't Rod Price the GWF champ for awhile?

I also remember that Indian tag team Tribal Nation, I believe there man was.

yep, i know who the Destroyer is, i am that dang old...

 

as for Hennig and Rude; they both were on their games back then.

the build up to Hennig losing the AWA title to Jerry Lawler was really well done. and following that, the Lawler vs Kerry Von Erich feud for the "unified" world title was as well, with the title flip flopping a few times i believe.

Memphis and WCCW were working together with AWA and "unified" their world titles because WCW and the then WWF were beginning to turn the business into what it is today. they saw the writing on the wall, and tried to make a go at it, but weren't successful.

and speaking of Global, i never bought into Eric Embry
as the number one baby face and champion, fighting all the bad guys.

in his first book, Mick Foley tells a pretty funny story about Embry (who was also the booker for Global) always conducting business and working on angles in the locker room buck naked.

the guys would always be getting dressed to wrestle and sitting down and Embry's tool would be swinging in their faces every time they looked up.

he also went as the punisher. I cant find where he was called the destroyer but I'm pretty sure I seen him called that.

whats with the WWE never finishing out a story line? Santino was so close to telling the truth about santa and now we will never know because Cena had to come out...

 

I really think they should have kept Santino the IC champ and have him make a legit run at Honky. In retrospect, they should have just left it alone for a while longer...and THEN unveil the Honk-a-meter. It would have been great if he has revealed it with about eight weeks to go and lose it a week before.

The Trish "surprise" was very predictable, but a nice touch nonetheless considering the boos Cena was getting.

With Batista now out until most like July of 09, me thinks we will see a TON of Cena/Orton snorefests going forward.

Agreed 100% about Santino. Yeah he sucks in the ring but the guy is so friggin entertaining. Plus he gets tons of heat, William Regal does not.

About Trish, will someone feed her. Seriously Trish it's ok to have a few hamburgers once and awhile. It barely looked like her.

This is exactly why you the WWE should have kept the belt on Jericho because a Jericho/Cena WM match would have sold. Orton/Cena will not and I think it's a mistake because Orton can't wrestle and Cena can't either unless he's in there with someone good. Plus the WWE should know better than to count on Batista to stay healthy because he never does, ever.

And trying to turn Orton into this 'viper' character isn't working. It's dumb, especially with his facial expressions. I do like how the WWE is trying to build up Orton's team but I'm sorry I can't take them seriously when none of them minus DiBiase look like stars or legit threats, especially when Cody Rhodes looks like a skinny chick and Afa Jr just looks dumb in those black tights.

 

By the way, I'm a huge fan of John Morrison and The Miz. I actually see a lot of young Shawn Michaels in John Morrison and I think if the WWE is committed that Morrison could turn into a big star. I mean the guy has the look and the skills in the ring and isn't terrible on the mike, he's basically better than every heel on RAW right now minus Jericho.

 

I like Morrison too. Not a fan of The Miz, but I have no problem hiding him in tag teams and doing backstage shenanigans.

Morrison is the star though. I really liked the Morrison/Punk storyline in ECW and have a feeling that those two could be the next generation of HHH/Rock in that their careers kind of mirror one another throughout.

In my opinion, here are the young guys that I think can actually be something in the future:
CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, Ted Dibiase, John Morrison, Mike Knox (I like him), The All American American, Evan Bourne. A nice miz of heaveys and cruisers that the company could build around going forward.

As it stands though, Cena and Orton will be at the top of the heap for the next decade, which sucks if you like quality wrestling and non douchey wrestlers.

 

I like Mike Knox also, I think he needs to get more time on air. Plays a psycho well.
