Kansas City Chiefs Schedule 2008 Season - weather.com

I was just checking the forecast for Arrowhead Stadium and the high is supposed to be 18 degrees on Sunday with a low of around 8 degrees.

If you are Sparano, what adjustments do you make, and how do you guys think this will affect the game?

Ohhhh boy, that's not promising at all. Maybe this Dolphin team is a different team but we historically have never played well in those type of conditions.

Only a 10% chance of precipitation (snow). If it's just cold, I'm not overly concerned about it.

Its just cold. No precipitation, they shouldn't have any issues.

I still remember Ricky running wild in Buffalo a few years back. Hopefully they feed him and his quick, small steps which helps in colder weather.

    It's -38 hear so I know about cold weather:wink2:

Yea, it sounds like a good game for running the ball. Chiefs defense seems to be pretty poor against the running game, too.

You just have to go play football. As long as the elements such as rain or snow aren't present, I don't think the weather should play a factor in the outcome. Regardless of if the players live there or not, 18 degrees is cold for anyone.

The Chiefs are the 30th ranked run defense Miami should have success running the ball Sunday.

No offence but if that were true Miami and Tampa would not have such a poor record playing in cold weather games.

Things just seem to be lining up great for the Dolphins. Go into KC in the cold and take care of business by running the rock. Go to the Meadowlands where the weather may be even colder in a possible night game for the division.

The KC game should be a great way to ease into the cold weather games of the near future. I also believe that Henning will have his two horses fresh and ready to steam roll defenses when the weather dictates the type of run, run, run offense that is needed to ensure victories.

I hope the Chiefs don't find similar success on the ground however. Nothing like a QB that can scramble coupled with a defense on slippery footing to equal disaster.

Practice in the bubble all week and bring in a few freezer units to get them prepared.
Regardless of the precipitation when it hets that cold the ball becomes very very slick.

I would give Ricky and Ronnie at least 15 carries each. If we get to some 3rd and long plays I think Chad has the ability to hit Fassano and Martin over the middle, maybe some short slant plays to Ginn and Bess? We seem to be using the Wildcat less and less and I would probably not use it much in the cold weather as we do not need to fumble it.

On defense I would be blitzing with Porter all day long. Have the rest of the guys in the box around the line of scrimmage. Contain Bowe and LJ and just punch the Chiefs in the mouth.

I'd be willing to bet, KC isn't looking forward to playing in 18 degrees any more than the Phins.

You see I don't buy that. It's like saying we don't look forward to playing in 98 degree heat with high humidity in September when the truth is we do because our players practice and live in it and as a result are more adaptable to it while visiting teams are not - hence the advantage to us.

The same goes for cold weather teams, they practice and live in it so it won't be a bother for them as much as it will be for us.

Ever notice when we play in Buffalo and NE when the weather is cold that we will hold up well up till about the 3rd quarter when the cold finally gets to us? It's the same way with teams and the heat in Miami in September, they might play well for a while but eventually the heat will get to them and a reason why we have always had a good record in September playing at home.

You know, this is probably the first Dolphins squad ever where cold weather wouldn't concern me having a real negative impact on them.

I think this is a team that has had mental toughness and focus rammed into their heads from the start of training camp and during every week of preparation this season. Tough smash mouth football is what wins in cold weather. Now we don't have the most talented roster to pull that off yet but they have shown they DO have that mentality and the talent is good enough to pull it off against the lowly Chefs.

This group MAY actually be a very good cold weather group. We are physical on both sides of the ball up front and thats a great first step to being a good cold weather team. We also have some ball carriers that can pound it and run inside and out. We are a team that doesnt turn over the ball. We might be ok with this group in any conditions...

Not to mention the fact that our defense was on the field for the majority of the game against the 49ers and did not allow a TD. This defense has the endurance to last regardless of weather or time of possession. We should be fine plus our running backs are still fresh due to the lack of use by our OC. Now will be the time to use our fresh running back corps and punch opposing teams in the mouth.

I'd bet I'm the only one on this board that would say this but I'd love to see the game as a snow game.

Snow games always add a little excitement to the mix and are always fun to watch.

Not good for you if you're going but hey, if it's going to be freezing anyway you might as well get the added benefit of snow.

As long as there is not a stiff wind...and well...we all know our Phins have the worst equipment folks in the NFL..how many times do we see Dolphins slip on any surface other then grass and 78 degree weather?

That is what worries me...buy some proper shoes for our guys for Pete's sake.

I think the weather has an impact more on style of game rather than on one team having a particular advantage.

For example, we have an advantage in the early season due to the humidity, etc., but it sure didn't matter when we sucked. Same with cold weather teams. If they're good, the advantage is pronounced. If they're not, it really doesn't matter.

Well if im them, and i know this sounds crazy, but if theres any temperature control in our practice bubble i say that we turn it on so it gets real cold in there and let them practice in it and get used to it. Just a crazy idea, and ik its probably not temperature controlled.

Tell that to the receivers' hands and the wind that will surely come because of the weather.

This game will be a grind it out game on the ground. I hope our boys can man up, take an early lead and coast. The last thing I wanted before the Jets game was a last second, hard fought win that will deplete us, like the 2000 playoffs, after we beat Indy at home and were depleted against Oakland.

    Oh well...

These next two weeks will truely test this teams heart.

I agree. I'd love to see this team play in inclimate weather. We'll get a good idea just how tough of a group this really is.

And it would be nice to put those (cold weather) demons to bed with a dominating performance, and once again illustrate to all of us just how far this team has come.

I don't buy the Sept. advantage to us because even tho our guys play and live in this weather, in Sept, even most cold weather teams have been in TC in the summer weather...it may not quite as hot or humid as say Upstate NY, but it's also not like playing in a dome versus the outdoor cold...besides, what you're really saying is that we have a better record in Sept because we have better conditioned athletes in Sept and we have a poorer conditioned athletes in Dec ?? I don't buy it...besides that, how many of the players on this team are actually from So. Fla ?? Not that many...

Weather is a fact of life in football, as it has been and should be. Good, bad, cold, hot...it doesn't matter as a team, but only to individual players...some like the cold, some don't...some like the heat, some don't...but that is a part of the preparations each player makes for each individual game whether that be to wear long-johns or gloves or hydrate more or eat at the right time, etc...

I like this. It gives us a little preview for the NY weather, against a team we can beat no matter what the weather if we play sort of well. And KC isnt exactly used to cold weather either. Its not like they have played in weather like this all year

Miami Dolphins players and coaches have said many times over the years that the weather definitely helps them in games. I believe they have a better vantage point than us on this issue.

    EXACTLY.

Now, we can;t look at this game as a 'tune-up' for the Jets or KC will beat us, as they almost beat the Chargers, but I am glad we will get to play a cold weather game BEFORE going to potentially play for the division title in the cold.

They are NFL players. There should be no problem with the weather.
Adrenaline is what wins games in the cold.
Some people are going to be saying that also when we play the Jets if they move the game to primetime.Do you think Chad minds?

The ball will be hard as a rock and the receivers fingers will be4 numb. Sounds like a recipe for a big day in the air!
