Not long ago, Charlie Anderson looked like he might become the Ernest Wilford of the Dolphins defense.

But while Wilford fades farther into the background, Anderson has gone from free-agent bust to impact player in just two weeks.

Anderson followed up last week’s breakout performance against the Bills (sack, two forced fumbles) with another high-energy performance against the 49ers.

Anderson had another sack and helped put continual pressure San Francisco quarterback Shaun Hill (five sacks), while alleviating some on the demand of Dolphins’ sack master Joey Porter.

“Huge, huge,” cornerback Andre Goodman said of Anderson’s emergence. “Any time you can get another pass rusher in there when they’re doubling Joey, that’s big for us as a unit. He’s been great these last couple of weeks.”

It's been what I've hoped. They've taken Roth out of the game on key passing downs and having Anderson there has made the situation great.

He's absolutely necessary to have on 3rd and 6 or 3rd and 7. If you don't have him in there your pressure on the QB is minimal.

Fortunately the Phins have two packages:

1st and 2nd or run downs:

    LOLB-Roth
    LILB- Ayodele
    RILB- Crowder
    ROLB- Porter
    DE- Langford
    NT- Ferguson
    DE- Holliday

    On passing downs:

    LOLB- Anderson/Porter
    LILB- Torbor
    RILB- Crowder
    ROLB- Porter/Anderson
    DE- Merling
    NT- Starks
    DE- Holliday

Roth looked awesome too. I don't think we should count either out just yet.

I liked how Ayodele was playing as well. I don't see us drafting LB in rd 1 if this unit keeps improving like it has the last few weeks.
