Yep, comes out in limited release in December, nation wide on January 19. Directed by Darren Aronovsky (one of my favorites - he did Requim for a Dream and the Fountain).

The Wrestler looks good. Mickey Rourke is an underrated actor imo.
If I recall correctly, originally Nick Cage was to be the lead in that but backed out at the last minute. I think that was smart. Rourke looks more like the "wrestler" type as it is. He is a dead ringer for Jerry Lynn on some angles.

I think Cena should have punched Jericho a few more times in the last segment of RAW to really get the point across he's a new person with a violent streak in him.

Seriously though I've been a wrestling fan since 1991 and I can't ever remember a face beating the crap out of a heel who wasn't on his way out of the promotion or wasn't Vince McMahon. What was the point of that? The WWE not only killed Jericho as a threat to the title and Cena but blew it's buyrates to the December PPV. Who's going to believe Jericho has a shot at winning now (not like he did before but still).

I think it was telling that fans were still split half cheering and half booing Cena. I've never seen any wrestler like him where it's right down the middle like that. Problem is they can't turn him heel because he makes them a ton of money as a face. I can't wait until that epic Cena/Batista WM snore fest for the belt.

Couldn't agree more. I was thinking the same thing, wondering if Jericho gave notice or osmething due to his beatdown. But you are right, they haven't exactly booked him to look strong recently either. I mean, just tonight he won a #1 contender's match sort of underhandedly. He didn't even get to hit his finisher out of nowhere, which is usually how they get the heel the duke in that situation.

I think the only way that they can make this work for the next three weeks is to have Jericho open Raw next week, say that he filed a formal complaint with Stephanie McMahon and she has agreed that Cena is NOT ALLOWED to touch Jericho before the PPV. In addition, Jericho has been allowed to hire his own personal seucrity. I would kepe it vague, but have him introduce Mike Knox as his new bodyguard/hired muscle. Knox has the silent killer giant mystique already, ala Diesel and Jericho is generating a ton of heat right now, so it could work.

Then, you have Jericho follow Cena everywhere throughout the show, egging him on to punch him. The show ends with Cena beating Kane, Jericho hitting the ring for a faceoff, and then Knox just pummeling Cena from behind.

The following week, The show once again, opens with Jericho and Knox in the ring. Chris talks some smack, Cena comes down. Jericho remind shim that he can't touch him, so Cena says he is aware of that, but that he can touch Knox all he wants. He attacks Knox while Jericho slinks out of the ring and motions to the back for mor ehelp.

Jack Swagger enters the ring, punts Cena into next week and Jericho does one of two things:
He either fires Knox on the spot and announces Swagger as his new Head of Security, or he announces that Swagger has been ADDED to the team, thus giving Team Jericho its third member.

The week before the PPV, you have Cena face Swagger/Knox in a handicap match and, (this is the key) you have him LOSE. Have him get manhandled and holding his neck. Powerbombs, Chokeslams etc. Make him look ultra vulnerable.

At the end of the beatdown, Jericho saunters out, laughing, smiling and with a mic in hand. He recaps that Cena brought this on himself and that, as Jericho said a few weeks prior, there is nothing John can do about it. He then reminds Cena that Cena, not that he is even in a position to do so, can't lay a finger on Jericho. But what Jericho forgot to tell Cena, is that no such stipulation exists for him. He gives him a codebreaker, Cena holds the neck and writhes in pain. Jericho slowly turns him over and puts him in the Walls of Jericho OLD SCHOOL STYLE. He keeps it locked in for about a minute as Knox and Swagger keep officials and referees at bay.

Jericho then grabs the belt and the mic and tells Cena that he will see him Sunday, holds the belt up to mock Cena and it fades to black as Cole/King hype the impossible for Cena on Sunday.

At the PPV I have Jericho come out with his cronies, then Cena. They are in the ring, they do the Japan style introductions and then,

"Here comes the moneyyyyyyyy," Shane's music hits. He come sout to ringside and says, that Raw may be Stephanie's show, but this isn't Raw and as far as he is concerned, his last name is still McMahon, and he is calling the shots tonight.

First order of business, Knox and Swagger are banned from ringside and cannot interfere, or they are fired. They are escorted to the back. Shane is at ringside and Jericho is arguing with him through the ropes. As this is happening, Shane also announces that this will be a no DQ, no countout match for the title. Jericho flips his lid in protest but then realizes that Cena is behind him and Jericho has just had it settle what he has gotten himself into.

He does the slow turn only to see Cena ready to pounce. And its on. Cena shows his aggresive meanstreak, Jericho keeps taking potshots at the neck until eventually, Cena is able to capitalize on a mistake and win with the STF-U that he holds in for a LONG time after the bell. Jericho is lefft holding his neck in pain, Cena wins, everyone goes home happy and you can move on to the next storyline.

Yeah I agree, I haven't been able to watch the product since I went to college in '02 and stopped getting all of the PPVs. I would watch it if I wasn't busy but it was around the time that the product was getting bad. I will put on RAW if I'm around on Mondays but I usually end up doing something else and just have the TV on as background noise. The only RAWs I made a point of seeing was Jericho's return and RAW's 15th Anniversary show. I still love the old stuff and continue to rewatch old PPVs while I work out. Right now I'm on WM 8.

I actually have an idea for a Christian/Tomko return that might work.

Basically, Hardy and Edge fued for a month or so. Edge beats Hardy a couple of times, Hardy beats Edge, etc.

Eventually, Hardy gets beaten down by Edge and his other minions (Chavo, Edge Heads etc.) Jeff comes out the next week and says that at the next PPV, he is challenging Edge and a partner of his choosing to face Jeff and a surprise partner of his.

Edge immediately chooses Chavo or someone of that ilk. He tells Jeff to give it up because he saw Matt backstage and he knows it is going to be him. Says he has no problem embarrasing and beating on the Hardys from now until the end of time.

At the PPV, Edge and Chavo come ot the ring. Jeff is next. Edge, once again starts talking smack about how he knows it is Matt. Matt's music hits and he comes down to the ring.

Edge looks confident and tells everyone that he knew it was him. Hell, EVERYONE knew it was him. Matt grabs the mic and tells Edge, that as much as he would LOVE to pound Edge's face in tonight...he is NOT Jeff's mystery partner. You see, non one knows Edge and his thought process like the Hardy's. No one has been in the ring with Edge more times that the Hardy's...except for one man...
Christian's music hits as he saunters down the aisle. Cue Edge's shocked reaction and it is revealed that Christian, is in fact, Jeff's partner.

From there, you can either have him play the babyface role for awhile, or have him turn on Jeff that night, Sting/Flair style. Either way.

I think it would be cool to have Christian stay a face, have them beat Edge/Chavo and then have Edge counter the Christian move by "hiring" Tomko to help even the score against Christian.

Eventually that should lead to a reunion, but for now, you can have this play out at Royal Rumble and then have Jeff or Christian wind up challenging Edge for the title at Wrestlemania.

Yeah the writing and actual in ring wrestling has gone way down hill. Maybe it's because of the lack of talent and building up new talent I'm not sure but it's just hard to watch.

Yeah I pretty much have every single WWF PPV from SummerSlam '91 to WM18 (minus a lot of the In Your Houses and random non RR/WM/SS/SS PPVs). I also have a bunch of old WCW PPVs from 1996 to 1998 and man other than the cruiserweights, Flair, Jericho, Benoit, Booker T and Raven there really wasn't any good wrestling on those PPVs.

And about Tomko and Christian returning, I personally would love to see Edge, Jericho, Christian and Tomko form a stable on RAW (while moving Orton's stable to Smackdown). They would be like the Canadian Horsemen, haha.

Nice, good stuff. Last year I was cleaning out my closet and found a bunch of old WWF Superstars, Wrestling Challenge, RAW and Nitros. Remember when those Saturday and Sunday morning shows were nothing more than a wrestler vs. a jobber and they'd beat them in under 2 minutes and at the end there was usually the 'main event' were guys like Virgil against Skinner or Tito Santana vs. The Brooklyn Brawler, haha. The last time I watched one of those tapes was then the Warrior got a curse on him by Papa Shango and puked pea soup.

Anyway tonight is Thanksgiving Eve which was when the Survivor Series used to be on PPV. I remember going over my friends house after school with a bunch of my friends and we'd wrestle and play video games or football outside until the PPV came on. Man those were the days.

Yup that was SS 1990 in Hartford, The Undertaker debuted at that event. I wish I was into wrestling then because I would have gone, my uncle had tickets to that event. I also had a shot to go to WM11 in Hartford but I didn't want to pay over 50 bucks because I didn't like the card (smart choice).

I've been to one WWF Superstar taping (which went like 5 hours long), 2 RAWs (back when they used to tape a months worth at a time- one of the RAWs was when Razor Ramon won his first IC belt, the other RAW was when Austin was doing his gimmich where he'd randomly run into the ring and stun wrestlers it was right after '97 IYH but before the RR) and 1 Smackdown which was debut of Batista.

I've also been to a ton of house shows. Good times.

Eh, now I admit I'm not a big Kane fan so I'm obviously biased but I think this is one of the weaker DVDs the WWE has put out. I really don't think he deserves his own DVD, especially a 3 disc set.

I'm waiting for a Jericho set, that should be coming out in 2009, I would think/hope. It's just too bad his matches with Benoit won't be included.

I would love a Kane DVD, Kane seriously does not get any credit where he deserves a lot, I mean Kane had a choice to become a bigger star but felt that he is better off helping the younger talent go over... i admire him for that

Hey I give Kane credit for sticking around in the WWE for over 13 years, that's very impressive. I just think he stinks as an actual wrestler, just a typical big man, and after his initial run/feud with the Undertaker and Stone Cold he became boring. Again I'm biased because I was never really a fan of his.

Blame that on WWE. Kane is one of the most agile big men you will ever see. Dont forget this is the same guy that use to pull of top rope hurricanrana's, and the top rope closeline has always been impressive. His style is and always has been limited by what he was based off of, the Undertaker. I have always been impressed with his work ethic. He jobs all the time, has had a major belt, what, twice? Has rarely missed any time over his career. And when he's in character he's incredible.Hell, I even like his movie. Not enough to watch it again...but...:shifty:

Haha, hey to each his own. I personally think Kane's character has been boring since 1999 and never really interested me after he lost the title to Stone Cold the day after the King of the Ring. But again that's just me, I know there are a lot of fans of his on this board and I respect that.

y'all may have heard this; on the recent trip to Iraq to perform for the troops, JBL was apparently being his usual self, and took it upon himself to make Joey Styles life miserable while they were over in the sandbox.

i didn't read all the details, but JBL was apparently doing things like intentionally spilling drinks on Styles, verally harassing and physically intimidating Joey, and some other middle school lunchroom bully tactics.

and when Joey had enough, he went after JBL. they were pulled apart and broke away, then Joey punched him in the face and gave JBL a black eye!

former WCW announcer Scott Hudson wrote a column about the matter, and buries JBL in it, for being a douche for a long time, and having this coming to him. he also questions why the McMahons put up with the BS from a guy who doesn't draw and never has (Hudson's stated opinion.)

Kane USED to be pretty agile. He has really let himself go recently, packing on the pounds and looking like it hurts to even walk sometimes. Who can blame him though? The guy has one of the easiest characters to get over and keep sustained and the WWE seems to refuse letting it happen.

I think Kane has finally given up which is too bad. But I may have to throw in the towel as well and come to grips with the fact that they will never ever use him the way I think he should be used.

As for the Joey Styles story, it is quite funny seeing as how JBL pretty much gets away with rape backstage (no joke). However, I tink Joey is the benficiary of quite a few factors. For one, I would bet that JBL was pretty drunk. Two, I am willing to bet that he was off balance when Joey connected and three, seeing as how no one has really stood up to JBL prior (including HHH and UT) I am willing to bet that he is either a legit tough guy, or isn't as bad as the internet says he is.

Disagree on how Kane was used. His character really had a shelf life/usefulness until his matches with The Undertaker were over. Once that was over and he was buried I don't think fans thought of him as a real threat, seriously once Austin beat him to win beat his title he lost all of his heat ad really never had a meaningful title match that fans really though he could/should win.

I think Kane was over for the most part because of his intro, as the pyro and music were pretty sweet. Once the matches started I truly feel that the fans just didn't care, perfect examples is everytime he switches brands and his first appearance everyone goes crazy and after that nothing.

Maybe the WWE did misuse him a bit in silly angles but as a character he wasn't ever going to have a real shot and I think the fans knew that. I think if you sub in The Big Show's name in your above response it would be dead on as he was screwed by the WWE since his 2nd week.

Agreed about Big Show, that dude should be a MONSTER on the top of the card right now. Not quie sure why that is not happening.

With Kane, I think they absolutely were intending for is character to be short lived, but it actually had legs. The problem was, once they kept making him more and more human (which had to happen in order to sustain the guy), they watered him down and would never spend time building him back up. they would just throw lazy storyline after lazy storyline at him.

Kane has always been pretty bad at promos if you ask me. That laugh of his is not menacing and borders on ******ed. I really think, that even to this day, Kane would have been better served to have someone like Raven do his talking for him and really hammer home the point home that Kane is a lost soul. Someone who needs a Raven to look after him, all the while everyone pretty much knows that Kane needs no one but he is so screwe dup that he doesn't know it.

And don't discount the intro pop. Kane absolutely has that and has one of the most memorable entrances of all time. I also think, when he was younger, he actually put effort into his work and was a pretty good worker for a big man, the WWE just failed to use him properly in my eyes over and over again.

At this point, Kane seems to have given up as well as he has put on a ton of weight and his work is sloppy and uninspired. If ever someone needed a change of scenary or change of employment, it is him.

Agreed with everything you said, but I didn't discount the intro pop. I said I thought it was cool and that's way fans still mark out for it.

It is really sad what they did to The Big Show. He could have been a major major star in the sport. I think he's part to blame because he did get lazy and fat at times but the WWE did really drop the ball in his second week with the company. I mean he came in and destroyed Austin in his cage match with McMahon, then the next night on RAW helped The Rock beat up Mankind and screwed him out of the world title and then at WM he got himself DQed when it made no sense and then all of the sudden he's a face or heel depending on the week and whether it was an even day or odd day.

And then upon his return he is fueding with a boxer? WTF?

I thought they were going to push him to the moon when he came back. Stupid me. Honestly, have him come out, say he is tired of playing games and getting distracted. From here on out, he is here for two things. The world title, and the WWE title. If people get hurt along the way, so be it.

Then have him just clobber everyone in his way and take the WWE title on Smackdown. In fact, I would then have him join the Rumble, WIN IT and go on to challenge for the World title at Wrestlemania. That is how serious of apush I think Big Show shold get.

As long as fan boys like Cena,Undertaker and HHH are in the company and they sell merchandise the way they do, no one will ever get a solid push over them. I still think Hardy could have a major run as a face, but he constantly screws himself with his out of the ring habits. Big Show seems to be looked at as the "other" woman. When the bigs need a break, or a good heel rivalry he is always there. Show def. could have been a bigger heel or even face than they have made him. I cannot stand "the big punch" as a finisher, btw.

I'm in the middle of watching old PPVs from 1996 and you know who could have been a huge star and made millions of bucks? Ahmed Johnson. The guy was crazy over (and actually my friends and I used to call Goldberg the 'white Ahmed' because that's exactly what he was when he first started). It's too bad Johnson was sloppy in the ring and always got hurt (and fat) because he had a good look, the fans behind him and had some pretty impressive moves.
