I missed a good part of the game. Saw the 4th and overtime though! :D I know he had great statistics... but I hadnt seen a lot of great chemistry between them.

I'm not talking about them getting along. They got matching haircuts, lol! I'm talking about on floor basketball chemistry...

If they showed a lot of that last game, thats great news! I hope they start feeding off of each other...

well we all acknowledge marion's style doesnt fit our type of basketball. but marion did score 21 last night. so he can succeed occasionally in our system, but to expect him to drop 15-25 a night is just not going to happen.

Oh, do we? lol. I didnt realize that it had been discussed.

I'm really disappointed that he wouldnt be able to drop 15-25 a night here.

Why not? What about him and what about our system dont fit? I dont know basketball like I know football... so what scheme wise doesnt fit Marion?

Riley-style of basketball is more half-court and stressing passing the ball to set up the center or open up a lane for D-wade.

Marion is more fit for DiAnitoni-style of b-ball, run-and-gun offense.

But is our team set up at all for halfcourt basketball? We have no big man... and I feel that playing halfcourt ball emphesizes our weakness of lack of size...

I feel a smaller team like this has a better chance of success by running up and down the floor and taking advantage of our strength as a team right now... our speed.

Why try to fit a square peg in a round hole? Wouldnt it make sense to mold our system around the type of players we have? I mean, its not like football where its much harder and more time consuming to switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3 or something...

I'm not a big basketball expert... but am I making sense? Or am I way out in left field on this?

I think you're making sense. We're a young, small team. I honestly expected this team to run up and down the court all night, ala Phoenix, to compensate for its lack of a defensive big and to take advantage of its strengths. It's strange that we aren't flying across the court, especially with a (finally) healthy Wade.

Have our coaches talked about this at all? Have any of the local reporters asked them about it?

i think marion fits well. it's just hard to see because his game is so ugly. but he provides us with a lot of energy and defense.

however, beasley on defense is starting to make me cringe. i hope it's just a rookie thing and not because he's day dreaming out there.

also, saw blount was finally inactive for a game. kudos to coach spo. i hope marcus banks is next when james jones comes around. i understand these are salaries that need to be showcased, but really, these players should be inactive.

His defensive skills have always been a concern. If he ever really wants to be a true superstar he is going to have to step it up.

thats how our team was when SVG was coach. But i think Spolstra still has Riley looking over his shoulder, stressing his slower pace mode.

That's definitely a factor, but we also have to consider that Spoelstra wants the team playing this way. He might be afraid of injuries--and justifiably so, our roster is paper-thin right now. It's kind of like what Sparano is doing with Ronnie: using him conservatively to avoid injury.

If Spoelstra truly does want this team to run up and down the court, then he might be waiting on a bench that can handle it.

the bench has some offensive firepower too, did you see last nights game? i think bringing beasely off the bench for now is good, he brings energy this team needs down the stretch.

The Heat and 29 other teams eying the 2010 free agent list.

Here's hoping we eventually land Chris Bosh, and that you guys are right about him being ideal for this team.

is it me, or is beasley's head never in the game? so far this season i think chalmers is more valuable to the heat than beasley.

Beasley with only 13 minutes tonight? Only 1 foul?

What is ES's deal? Or what is Beasley's deal?

he had to go to the locker room because his eye was scratched. still, when he was in, he was ineffective, and it seems like the other team always goes on a run when beasley is in the game.

idk, beasley looks uninterested. at one point he was yawning on the bench. things you can tell about a player early on are: passion, instincts and clutch ability.

he might be good one day, but i definitely see why riley had reservations about him. he's definitely not of the riley mold.

He's 19. It's going to take time. Spoelstra likes him for what he will be one day, not what he is right now.

why? hes doing ok, you have understand hes a rookie coach, hes going to make mistakes, give him some time to work out the kinks. and having Riley as the teams braintrust is a big plus, much like what we have in Parcells/Sparano

What does he do? He hasn't even installed a system. Hand the ball to Wade, iso, and watch what he does: that's our entire offense. We drafted Beasely for nothing.

I love Spoelstra as an assistant, but I can't see him turning this team into a great one. SVG at best, IMO.

You cannot install a system on a team in your first few months in the NBA, heck most coaches struggle for first few YEARS. you have to be able to get the RIGHT players(we dont) and have everyone buying into it. right now, were putting out there what we got and seeing what we can do with the current talent we have.

and if he turns out to be SVG at best, thats a not a bad thing. SVG had an below average team and turned them into a high scoring contender and almost took us to the finals.

    4 in a row man.

you gotta give Spolstra credit for WINNING which hes doing a lot lately with this team.

on top of that, regarding Beasely, hes got to EARN playing time. Riley/Spolstra is not going to just give him whatever, hes got to earn it. IMO thats the right approach.

What is this? We're 20 games into the season and hearing about how Spoelstra is a horrible coach and Beasley is a bust. What are we doing here, imitating the legendary impatience and negativity of New York sports fans?

We're 12-9 with a rookie head coach following a 15-67 season. Come on, HD.

I think Spoelstra is gonna win 45 games and the coach of the year. How do you like them apples?

Maybe not COTY...but the guy is getting this very young team to play balls out defense and win games.

I could be wrong here but I think E was saying that he needs to become a good defender in the future or he will be a bust. I don't think he meant that he's a bust now.He needs to learn to play defense, he's very raw in that aspect of his game and I think that's obvious.
