He was drafted fairly high by the Reds too I believe. Not sure if that speaks well of Pat White's baseball abilities, or the "abilities" of Jockety and the Reds front office. I'm going with the latter.

Thats what they said about him playing like that in the SEC

Not really. He is only saying that people can be wrong when they "Try" and predict what a player will do. Tim Tebow is not an idoit and not going to try and run over Ray Lewis. He will run when needed, But Tebow looks downfield even when he scrambles. He does not have the strongest arm however is very accurate when he throw. He brings one thing that I dont see in many QB's and thats leadership. You don't see it in everyone

That's a good point. Long was dissed b/c he didn't look as smooth in pass pro as some but he is doing well b/c he had advantages in other areas (like long arms) to compensate. Tebow will struggle, like most shotgun QBs, with timing issues. He basically will have to learn the rhythm of playing QB. But he has more than enough arm strength, accuracy, leadership and intelligence and his superior strength will help him in the pocket. I don't see any reason that Tebow couldn't eventually develop into another Big Ben.

Certainly there is a learning curve with Tebow at the next level. He has the potential to be a QB in the NFL but it might take quite a bit of time. At least with Long if he doesn't work out at LT then you can plug him in at RT. Thats what I meant its comparing apples to oranges.

Good luck convincing some of these SEC homers of that!!

If I was Pat White I would send a dozen roses to the Miami Dolphins coaching staff for implementing the wildcat into the NFL....He went from maybe being undrafted to a top round pick!! Ahhh the NFL is a trendy beast.

When I say "Top" I mean more like top 3 rounds comopared to the borderline being drafted status I thought he was prior to the Wildcat fad.

I am not confusing the SEC with the NFL. I am just mentioning all the people saying he would not make it in the SEC.

Tebow will run around a 4.56

Tebow will find a home in the NFL. I can see the future of the NFL moving toward multi-tool players @ many positions. Regarding him playing QB, if Brock Berlin is still in the NFL, why not Tebow? There's so many rosters clamoring for QB depth that someone is going to take him.

Pat White in the Wildcat? ABSOLUTELY!

Ofcourse he has....its just that everyone in the SEC runs a 3.5 so it just seems like Tebow is running slow.

I'd expect Tebow to run maybe a 4.8 or so. Thats pretty fast for a QB actually.

I think Tebow can be an effective QB IF he is given a couple of years to season. I think he tried to prove that he can stay in the pocket and throw early this year and it was hampering the Gators offense. Once he reverted back to Mr. Everything, he has exploded once again. He really should win the Heisman again this year. I would also hope he would end up staying and win it for the third year in a row...but I understand his decision if he comes out.

I thnk he remains a QB, if not that, than some type of HB/FB combo.

Sarcasm duly noted. For the first time this year I'm really looking forward to a college game- UF v Alabama. Especially after the Rams game, I want to see what Terrence Cody is all about- I'm impressed so far. I also want to get a good look at the Alabama Safety and Center. With each passing week Paul Soilia (sp) looks more and more like a goner. I still am not thrilled with Raji, but Jerry I like and at this point would take Cody over Jerry- does Cody play consistently hard?

More and more it looks that you're right about the OLB position accross from Porter. Roth has his moments, but case in point the early screen to Jackson- he just got abused. Too stiff for LB at this point. Paging Messrs. Anderson and Moses- are you still there/breathing? Maybe not.

Satele is probably going to be calling the Abuse Hotline this week- pointing the finger at Marcus Stroud. In a division with Wilfork/Jenkins/Stroud, Satele has to go. Maybe the Alabama Center is the answer, I still like Alex Mack.

I still think BPA within reason in 1st round, then go to work on defense/OL with next four picks.

I was referring to the bar that I might own after the Harvin bet, but we can let that one die. First round on me- I'm looking at Kronenbourg, Guiness Stout, Boddington's (love that stuff) or EKU 28- maybe the best beer I've ever had. I'm no beer expert, just trying different stuff- the Belgian beers are becoming favorites of mine.

I think Tebow goes in Round 2. Possibly at the end. I do agree with Boomer that he will not be a succesful Quarterback at the next level. The speed of the game is going to kill him.

I agree, and I think that is why they will have to sit him for a couple of years ala Steve McNair. I saw Tebow make a pass against Florida State over the middle that, had it been the pros, it is probably picked off. He waited a split second too long with the ball. He still completed it to the wideout, butin the pros, he would have had to get the ball off sooner to fit it in a narrower window.

Give him a year or two to learn and practice and I bet he comes out and plays well after that. He has a unique set of skills that might suit him properly considering the more wide open offenses and direct snap stuff that has come about this year.

The one glimmer of hope that Tim Tebow has is that when I watch him play I don't necessarily just see him making one read even though he plays in that type of offense. I do see him scan, on the fly, across the entire field and then just pick the open guy...an underrated skill.

It looks sloppy as hell and he'll be a coach killer for sure, but when your basic skill set includes good improvisation, reading the field, throwing the ball accurately, size and physical prowess, and a 70 yard arm...well, they can teach you the rest, if you're willing to learn. He'll have to sit for some time, but I'm not about to close the book on him or anything.

Good I will hold you too that. :wink2:

Everyone who thinks Tebow can't run his fooling themselves. He is not going to run a 4.3 and he is not the quickest however we are talking about straight line speed. Some people just assume too much. :pity:

It's not assuming that much to think Tebow will not run a 4.56 in the 40. By all means, based on everything I've seen of him, he is not capable of running that.

I found this online, no idea whether it's accurate or not:

A top high school recruit in his class recording 40-yard dash times as low as the 4.5s, Tebow considered Alabama at times but eventually chose to join forces with Urban Meyer and the Florida Gators. As a true freshman in '06, he helped lead the Gators to their second National Championship ever, exactly a decade later.

He was lighter back then, I believe. He's a heavy cuss now, I doubt he could get much lower than the high 4.6's.

Tim Tebow reminds me of Christian Laettner in the point that he could go down as one of the best College players of all time and kind of simply fade away as a pro.

    Spot on (potentially).

And few remember that Chrisitan Laettner had one of the best seats to see, and play on the same floor, with the "greatest team ever assembled" for Basketball.:hi5:

What I've read Pat White has a 96 mph fastball, he should have gone rd 1 in MLB. He went 4th due to wanting to play football.

Honestly, if he plays spring baseball for WVU, he be drafted alot higher.
