ND vs Texas at the Maui Invitational tonight on ESPN. If the football team sucks, maybe the basketball team can bring a smile to our faces lol.
I saw that last night. Finally decided to look over the schedule lol. I'm hoping I can get tickets for ND's trip to UCLA.
Way to follow your team Right before that game we play Miami so hopefully I can rub both those wins in your (alen) faces
Harangody vs Hansbrough tomorrow should be fun. Just hoping ND can keep it close lol, UNC is stacked. Too bad Zeller got injured, could have had the brother's go against each other.
Don, your dream may be coming true! ESPN - Report: Charlie Weis' buyout figure won't keep him safe at Notre Dame AND Sources: Weis' Notre Dame buyout smaller than believed -- chicagotribune.com
We have no problems with what is going on at Miami, we are ahead of schedule in fact. Next year, and the year after Miami will be in the hunt for the National Championship. Can't say that about the sorry azz Notre Lamers. When was the last time the Irish were relevant ? 1989 ? And to use the word Thug, is inappropriate as its only a disguise for the "N" word. Miami is on the verge of its 2nd rebirth since Notre Lame has been relevant, and you just can't stand it
Alen if he loses by more than 28 this week to U$C he is a goner. No question about it. And expect them to hire........Bill Cower, not Meyer. Meyer has it too good at Florida to leave anytime soon. Notre Dame offers nothing close to Florida, as Notre Dame is living off its past, and the future looks to be bleak.
I think he will be gone after the USC loss as well. However, I don't see Bill Cowher being there nor do I see a bleak future. While they haven't been the best team under Weis, they have been an extremely talented one in my opinion. They got top notch talent, just bad coaching and I think if they can find a guy who can actually coach them up, they'll be a good team.
One of the dumber things I've read in awhile, and that's putting it nicely. To bring race into this when you dont know me is what's inappropriate. (read inappropriate as extremely stupid). I dont mind Miami being relevant, I dont hate your team, or really care about them tbh. I'm not the one talking trash in the Miami thread, or bringing up other programs. So what are you basing the idea that I cant stand something on? ND has been in BCS games recently, they lost, but I'd say being ranked highly makes one relevant. Grats on cracking the top 25, though. And as you're showing, ND doesnt have to be ranked high to be relevant, other programs still compare themselves to the Irish.
Thanks, I heard about this last night on Sportscenter and meant to go hunting for the article today, you saved me some time lol. Not quite my dream though, my dream would have been that Weis was the coach so many thought he'd be.
Lol, glad I could help. Well, at least your getting rid of him because he isn't who they thought he was. I feel like Dennis Green right now. Who would you want to replace him with?
Not sure who I want. Kind of dont want to think about it lol. Some names I'm seeing thrown around on ND forums is Brian Kelly, Chris Peterson, Kyle Wittingham, Mike Leach, Brody Hoke, Mike Riley; most seem to want to avoid NFL coaches (Cowher) and that FL article I posted about Meyer has everyone hoping for him again (unlikely).
I dont really think so either. He seems pretty perfect where he is. I was a little surprised when I saw his name pop up in a thread on this topic tbh.
Mcalarney is a stud, guy can make a three from anywhere it seems. edit: I'm glad they didnt kick him off the team when he got busted w/ pot lol. Was a lot of fun to watch him tonight, even if it was in a losing effort.
Alen how many years has Notre Lame been getting "top notch talent" and it hasn't mattered. The program has been a joke for 20 years and that isn't changing soon. To become better they are going to have to humble themselves, examine what they are doing wrong, re-organize and cut out the cancers and then get on with a complete makeover. Sound familiar ? But the powers that be in South Bend are way too arrogant to do what is necessary. They have that unnatural agreement with NBC, and unrealistic expactations that they should be some great icon of college football. They haven't mattered in college football for the last 20 years, and guess what ? College football has flourished more than ever without Notre Lame being relevant. So any BS heard about, "its good for college football for Notre Dame to be good" is what it is....BS of the highest degree.
Might I remind you of what you typed in post # 127 : That I consider the 1st salvo fired at Miami. It's extremely inflammatory, and at the least disrespectful. Sorry, but you started this and only an apology will stop it.
You seem to care an awful lot about Notre Dame. Let me know what your definition of relevant is, then we talk about whether they've been relevant or not. You're clearly wrong, but I'll wait for your definition to show you why. And ND hasnt been getting top talent for 20 years, especially not at the clip they have the past 3 or so.
One post rekindling an old rivalry between the schools gets you this up in arms No apology is coming over that, so keep posting. You dont bother me, you just prove your pettiness.
I disagree. I don't know how long they've been getting top notch talent but I do know that they have had poor coaching and I think that will change in the near future. I expect them to get the right guy for the job, whether it be Jim Harbaugh or Mike Leech or someone else. (Just tossing Harbaugh out there). They have young talent at nearly every position and I think that they can get the team going in the right direction, with the right coach in place. I've never liked Notre Dame, disliked when Brady Quinn was there, when Weis led the team to the Fiesta Bowl and a win over OSU in 2005 and when Jeff Smardzaja made that sideline catch and then cut back inside to score on UCLA in the final seconds. Never liked any of that but despite that, I think they will be a good team in the near future and I think they will get the right coach.
You asked why I started posting in this thread, well I answered you. I had no reason to do so, until you castigated my Alma Mater. Then you show the natural arrogance of a Notre Lame supporter. You sir, are the one that shows the pettiness. You should apologize to the U of Miami and supporters, and until you do so, I reserve the right to post in this thread, under the rules of TOS as often, and as many times as I wish. What you did was out of line, plain and simple.
Notre dame has consistantly been considered in the top 20 recruiting classes in the last 50 years. The coaching has less than stellar, but the arrogance of course, has reached almost all time highs. Your program has not earned the reputation, Bowl contracts agreement, or TV Network agreement that it has in place, but has them based on a perceived fan base. That sir, is dwindling, as a whole generation of young football fans are growing up with Notre Dame, trying to live on its past glory, and washed up image. They have moved on to many other programs as fans, or left football altogether (studies show more and more young men are more interested in MMA than football).
Weis is overmatched at Notre Dame http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/tim_layden/11/25/notredame/index.html?eref=T1 http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-ndrecruit28-2008nov28,0,7991933.column Former Irish star stands by Weis http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/chi-27-weis-watchnov27,0,2157198.story
Stealing top recruits from USC is the only joy I get lol. Hopefully Weis' replacement can either win games or continue the trend. My fingers are crossed it'll be both though.
That paragraph gave me some hope lol, thanks Alen. Of course when he details how hard it is to find the type of coach a school like ND needs, that hope fades a bit
LOL, sorry dude, here's one that may crush your hopes totally, even though *my* post isn't intended to. ESPN - Wojciechowski: Notre Dame is like everywhere else
Kevin.. cmon man, it wasn't nearly as bad as you are taking it. We deserved that nickname for that game. Got our arrogant arses beat too. In my own mind when I think of that game, I remember it as Catholic and Convicts.. that's one of the ugly "other five" the ones we got to, but didn't win. Ya know, you calling the Hiding Irish "Notre Lame" isn't very nice either. Don's a good guy Kevin.. don't take offense where none was intended bro.
I honestly didnt realize U fans got insulted by the Catholics v Convicts thing tbh, and I didnt mention it in that thread in an insulting or antagonistic manner. I liked the idea of starting up our old rivalry in a bowl game was why I brought it up. So I'll apologize if anyone was offended by my use of that old term, it definitely wasnt meant in that way. It's why I was surprised when that was the justification, but now I know. So I'll only use when I'm trying to annoy U fans
What's interesting is he sees the situation at ND as so sad in part because he holds ND to a higher standard than other schools; even other great football schools. He makes me want to give Weis another year lol. Ugh, just dont get blown out tomorrow so I can justify being on board with keeping you around Weis!
Marty, I do take it to heart as I have been a part of the U of Miami Alumni Club for more than 25 years, on its governing board a few times during that stretch, and I love my university - I have more than just a casual fan interest. I personally have known many of the ball players through the years, and I hate it when that "name" is thrown around today. We have one of the cleanest programs in the nation, much cleaner than Penn St, Ohio St, FSU or Oklahoma, yet people still have a perception that is totally unfair to the kids playing today. I don't care for that term to be labelled on those kids who are working their butts off to shake the "Cokerization" of the program. Maybe I was too hard on Don, but I really can't stand Notre Dame, many of its fans, who through the years have condecendingly looked down their noses at schools like Miami, and really have no place doing so.
