I was looking back at old post of mine from when the site was down. I stumbled onto this tidbit. This is from before any talks between Wayne and Bill were made known. I guess Wayne saw things my way. :D

Here's the old thread. It's interesting to see how much negative reaction there was to the idea of Parcells coming to Miami.

I think we are going to have a very hard times attracting the right type of free agents while Cam is here. These recent comments from the players are giving Miami a very bad rep. We are going to get players that are chasing a paycheck, but the ones that want to win will avoid us like cancer.

With Keith's comments after the game, he pretty much eliminated any speculation of his return for next season. This leaves a huge hole at DT. If we do not draft Dorsey to fill that hole we will regret it for a very long time. It is also important that we replace Zach with our 2nd pick. Follow that up with a decent safety in the late 2nd, and a CB in the 3rd, and we will be set up very nicely for next season.

Anyone who says drafting a tight end in the first two rounds is a must, needs to seriously consider opening their eyes. This team needs new talent on defense, and fast.

I think our best move is to offer Bill Parcels $50 million a year to come in and fix things. I am dead serious. If Wayne is serious about winning being the most important, then he needs to put up the money to get Parcels back into the game. Even though I am happy with the foundation that Cam and Mueller have set; I trust that Parcels can use that as a launching point to get this team winning.

Who is the one guy that can take down the Pats? Bill Parcels

Parcells in the east with Bellechick would sure be interesting. If we were going to depend on Keith Traylor for 2008 we would already be in serious trouble. He is really old and probably doesn't have too much left anyway.

with four games to go it could get ugly if players continue to criticize the team in front of the media. cameron is going to have to reign this in

We're going to have a hard time attracting free agents no matter what. Cameron isn't going to somehow prevent free agents from coming here. We're going to have to overpay no matter what.

I say land some mid-level talent in free agency, stockpile draft picks again, and go for 8-8 next year. Of course, if we have a shot at Nnamdi Asomugha or Marcus Trufant, pay for those guys. They would help our secondary for years to come.

What draft pick number was Tim Bowens? Was he an early pick? He did us good for years.

I don't want Parcels, he would only be here 2-3 years and has a habit of leaving teams in a mess when he leaves. Truck was gone after this year due to his age so no huge surprise there.... I agree though that he MUST be replaced.

Dint agree about needing to draft Zach's replacement though, I think we already have him in Crowder. He wont ever be another ZT but guess what? Not many guys will. I just think we have bigger problems then Crowder.

He MUST be replaced only if we plan to continue running the 3-4... which we've pretty much gone away from this year. We're now a base 4-3 defense, instead of a base 3-4. Soliai was taken to grow into a 3-4 nose tackle, but so far he's done nothing.

If we stick with the 4-3, then Glenn Dorsey will do more for us than any other defensive line player. But the question becomes, if we were going to run a 4-3 in the first place, why did we get rid of Kevin Carter?

Crowder is good enough at WLB that we should keep him there. I don't think he's the kind of person you want at MLB, which is basically the QB of the defense.

I'd rather have Dan Connor out there at MLB in two years, not Channing Crowder.

Excellent points. One of the reasons Ive been against us drafting Dorsey is because I'm under the impression that we're still going to run a 3-4 but if we do end up back in a 4-3, Dorsey's value jumps through the roof. He is a prototypical 4-3 defensive tackle. His back problems are my other concern and will need to be evaluated carefully. Obviously with the medical staff we have, they'll probably give him a clean bill of health and he'll spend the season on IR nursing a back injury

I also agree with you on Dan Connor. If we trade down to 10th or so, that's the guy I think we should target (unless one of my QBs is available :1eye:)

lol I was about to mention that.

God our entire organization needs rebuilding. We need a new medical staff, coaching staff, and players that can catch a ball.

I wouldnt want Parcells either as a coach but i'd be all for bringing him in as our GM. Parcells left the Jets, Pats, and Cowboys and all had success after he left so im not sure where you are going with that. He's got a great eye for talent and he's built some solid foundations during all of his tenures.

    HAHA.

To be honest, the team critising themselves go to show, they all need to step their game up.

Im gettin frustrated with them! Zach?? GET YOUR ARSE BACK ON THE FIELD. 'migrains my arse'

This team needs DISAPLIN! Cams a Fairy! we need people out there that are pumped and ready to actually plan with their head, not waiting a paycheck and playing half speed.

feel like the rest of you. this has been an agonising season.

    Hear Hear!

Mueller did fine in the draft this season, bringing in Parcells to be a GM is not the answer IMO.

McFadden is our guy also IMO, we have so many needs on defense that one player, especially a DT, just is not going to make our defense all that much better, and there goes our #1 pick.

Miami used to attract FA's like bees to a picnic, warm weather, grass field, no state income tax, we have been down for so long, at best we can bring in a few stop gaps until we improve unless we want to be in Salary Cap Hell along with a talent gap problem.

Used to is the operative phrase, Cam isn't going to stop attractrive FAs coming here as we have suffered that malaise for several years now, at least going back to Wanne. He might continue it, but will have to wait to see what Mueller and he do in FA before we know for sure.

tell that to the Tennessee Titans and they will laugh in your face. Dorsey can make a ENOURMOUS impact on this team immediately. If you dont realize that, then you really dont know the value of having a monster at DT.

    EXACTLY!

Dorsey, if as advertised, makes every player in the front seven better the day he signs.

Whatever gap plugger we throw beside him becomes better because teams will have to double Dorsey, giving teams nothing to run at in the middle.

JT/Roth/Holliday/Wright become better because teams have to run outside AND double the middle, leaving them more chances to see single blocking and make plays.

Our linebackers will be free to roam and make plays more because teams won't be able to single up Dorsey so he can penetrate and make plays in the back field.

Dorsey is a quick fix IF we go back to the 4-3. I don't understand the concept of people saying he can't make any impact because he does not handle the football. That is a ridiculous argument. Did Reggie White make impact? Lawrence Taylor? We can get this defense back to the middle of the pack quickly in my opinion. We just have to stop messing around. Draft HIGH END defensive talent. Continue what Saban started on the defensive side of the football.

I do have a question for the "draft McFadden" guys though. What is the use of having another high cap number and another running back if we can't ever stop anyone? What good is another running back going to do if we have to abandon the run in the middle of the 3rd quarter because we are down by 20 every week?

I've said it before in another thread (maybe this one), championships are NOT built around a great running back, EVER.

They are built with top 5 line play on both sides of the ball, great defense, top quarterback play and great special teams.

I'll take the potential All Pro defensive tackle over the potential All Pro running back every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I myself am not on the "Parcells Bandwagon"..

I like a lot of the moves he has made this offseason but it remains to be seen that he can continue his reputation of building teams into winners!

This team has been wallowing in it's own f-o stupidity for the past 6 or 7 years!

This might be one of the Tunas toughest rebuilding jobs.

And until I see a positive improvement on all three phases, Offense- Defense, and Special teams---- I am not drinking the Koolaid..
