this has got nothing to do with games, relax. this is more about our draft picks. IF: ginn turns out to be a legit #1 receiver that means A) that we don't have to draft a guy in the upcoming draft and B) cameron did something right. also that g.cam is incredibly reliable (i think) and could possibly be a 2 with his reliability to catch and run routes. G. Camarillo 43 483 11.2 33 1 T. Ginn 30 390 13.0 64 0 long, thomas turn out to be studs (long is playing well, would love to see thomas) langford, merling turn out to be studs K. Langford 16 12 4 2.0/12.0 0/0 2 0 0 P. Merling 14 10 4 1.0/4.0 0/0 0 0 1 where does that leave us needing draft picks? to me maybe C, DT, LB, DB. I realize that from comments sparano has made it seems to me he wants to upgrade WR. I also have a feeling we'll be looking at DB and maybe LB (porter isn't a spring chicken). maybe NT too. anyway my point is that we've got a lot to be positive about. these guys are all young. stats are from here: MiamiDolphins.com ginn is second only behind camarillo in yards and receiving (the third receiver (note: not TE?) bess. langford and merling are about halfway down. interesting to note langford has two pass defensed and merling has a fumble recovery.
If it was me AG, i pick the best linebacker available in the first round, akin, channing, and roth as a whole seem to be our weakest group. with the potential that our receivers have, the only other group i would put on the same level of need is corner, even then i like our stability and potential there moreso then at linebacker. Give me brian cushing at around 20 and i'll be a happy camper.
just saw this response. hopefully he picks the next incarnation of lawrence taylor. oh man that'd be awesome to have that pass rush fear working for us
Yeah looking back on that I'm not sure. Isn't he undersized for a prototypical C? I know he's athletic.
Depends where we pick to some degree, but BPO for a certain few positions would be the likely way to go in rounds 1-2 and maybe 3. Another pass rushing LB/DE that can complement, an ILB dominator and eventually supplant Porter. More OL depth, some WR depth still, and Id still look hard at the secondary. Guys like Cushing, Laurinaitis, Malauga, Sintim etc could be first round targets at various points in the round. OFC, there will also be very heavy consideration of DT/NTs considering that Parcells likes to snap them up and stock that position. I think it will take this draft and maybe another to figure out what kind of players/positions/strategys Ireland will use for his drafts, if he will strictly follow Parcells doctrine, or create his own variant.
Center, WR, O-Line depth, NT, Linebackers, and secondary. These are all positions we should upgrade over the off season.
I think that we have to take a big Wide Receiver, regardless of Ginn's development. I'm thinking we look at DB, NT, ILB, OLB, WR, OG and OT in the draft. I would love for us to end up with Clint Sintim, Larry English, Dominique Johnson and Hakeem Nicks and/or Ramses Barden. Thinking about it, if we go Sintim, English, Johnson and Barden, I would be very happy. Barden is the big WR that we would be looking for at 6'6" and has good hands. English would be converted to OLB and I think he could fit very well opposite of Porter because he has a great motor and knows how to get to the QB. Although he needs some work to be done. Sintim is a very good player who can play ILB, OLB and I think he could put his hand in the dirt as well. I wouldn't mind him at ILB. Dominique Johnson is a bigger CB at 6'2, 200 that runs a late 4.3 and displays good instincts. He has the versatility as he has spent time at Safety and CB. Knowing this FO, we'll go OLB and NT with the first two picks. Possibly Sintim, Raji, Johnson or Evander Hood, Nicks, English?
No matter what happens, the Dolphins need to draft a defensive tackle, a wide receiver, and some defensive backs. They could also use some linebackers. As with most Parcells drafts, we'll likely take the best "Parcells-type" player available when we're on the clock.
