There's always a series. There's always a series that makes you wonder what Cam Cameron was thinking, and if a different decision would have changed the game's course for better. There's always a series that gives you some pause about his competence, and gives more life to the "Can Cam" cause.

Sunday, that series occurred early in the second quarter.

After Joey Porter's interception, the joint was jumping. The Dolphins, trailing 7-3 with the ball at the Jet 33, were juiced

HMMM, I agree. It seems like we came out in the, "scared to let my rookie QB do anything" mode and quickly switched to the, "I'm going to let my rookie QB do everything" mode. We played in mode 1 for 2 weeks and swicthed to mode 2 this week. I wonder what a balanced gameplan might render?

Cameron sucks butt. This isn't an 0-12 team, this is an 0-12 coach. We're bad, but not
0-12 bad. All those games we lost by 3 or less, I hold Cameron responsible. And now the fact that he appears to be tanking the season on purpose with his ridiculous play calling, I don't even want to give him another year. Hopefully somebody proven is on the market in the offseason that we can't pass up.

Wait a minute hoss, could be that the players are blaming Cam for their lack of play making ability in an effort to shunt blame away from their own pitiful efforts.

Cam shows no emotion at all. He doesn't seem to inspire or lead at all just stands on the sideline looking lost. I have been amazed at many horrible calls he has made. I see him often not even look at players coming off field much less try to light a spark.

Having said that, Cam is not the one that dropped so many good passes right in their hands past few games. Cam is not the one that blew tackles or coverage. Crowder gave up a big play today he could have stopped or at least slowed but didn't give the extra effort or even try. Cam did not fold like a lawn chair at the line allowing his rookie QB to be mangled and RB's to be hit in backfield repeatedly.

I am not sure on Cam in that I don't know what is happening in practice that influences his decisions. Maybe there are many dropped passes in practice so the lack of down field throws or maybe he is an idiot. However he is not the only problem. This team is weak in several places due to revolving door coaching and poor draft choices. There is a lot of blame for many involved but I think the owner should get most of it for very poor personnel choices.

Cam inherited a massive mess including many key injuries. He has a deep draft (lots of picks) coming up in which he can address this mess. Ginn and Beck show potential but need a team around them to know for sure if the potential is real or imagined. At the beginning of the season many experts said the Phins would need 3 years to get back in shape. It takes time to build nearly from scratch.

Part of me wants Cam and Huzi's head on a plate but part feels give it the time it needs to get back to a "full team".

Yes Beck did some things wrong today but he also did some right and got little to no help from his team.

  7. I have been trying to remain optimistic towards Cam but he gives mr very little to optimistic about. Poor performances on the field is not soley due to a lack of talent on this team it is also an indication of poor conditioning and a lack of motivation. Cam appears to me to be over whelmed by his new job and is not rising to the occassion. To consistently not win games like we have is inexcusable and rookie head coach or not at the very least he should be capable of winning a minium of 3 games with this roster. I think it is time to accept the fact that Cam is a failure and as painful of a prospect as this is Miami needs to start shopping for a new head coach yet again because we are not going to suceed under this kind of tutilage. I have been saying to give him one more season before calling for his head but my oppion has now shifted to removing him asap. His lack of leadership has sunk our season and our teams and fan bases morale Wayne has failed us yet again but dont fret too much Im sure he will not fail us in raising our season tickets yet again next season. He seems to consistently suceed in that dept.

I formally appologize to all of you whom I argued with to give Cam more time you all were ahead of the curve and I was late to identify his inadequices.

This is the very sadest time I can remember being a fan in the last 30 years that I have rooted for this team. We need a miracle to fix this mess because we are never going to suceed with wayne and company running this organazation. He is too greedy to sell and we are too loyal to abandon and our future looks bleak.

This team has been a bad team for 5 years (even when we somehow milked out 9 lucky wins two years ago) and now we're finding out just how far we've fallen. I'm sure Cam's ineptness isn't doing us any favors, but at the same time I can't point to anything or anyone on the roster that gives me a reason to say we aren't anything but an awful team.

ya know I don't really know. What I do know is that I haven't seen Cameron put these players on offense in a position to make big plays. It must make Beck feel really good knowing his coach doesn't believe in his ability to throw down field.

It's hard for me to blame players when they are seldom given the opportunity.

I'm not one to jump all over a coach but yesterday looked like complete chaos. And not even organized chaos. What has happened to our Dolphins? How could they fall so far so fast? Wow that was bad! Geez that was horrible! Totally uninspired and clueless. Clue-less. They were totally unprepaired and who's fault is that? Those in attendance should demand their money back. How much can be blamed on previous regimes? I don't know. I like that Cam is as calm as he is and not the total nut job that Saban was but he has to find a way to light a fire under these guys. And where did the stinkin' Jets get those awful uniforms? Those are almost as bad as those grotesque things that Philly wore earlier this year. The Dolphins are done. They may as well pack up their stuff and make their tee times. 0-16 here we come. We'll see what happens in April.

    Excuses, excuses, excuses.

The New Orleans Saints has been a bad team for the past 20 something years untill last season.

The Detroit Lions has been a bad team in their entire history. AND THEY HAVE MATT MILLEN RUNNING THE TEAM!

They are managing to win suddenly!

We have the talent to have a good team, we just don't have the right coach to bring us some victories.

Some of you don't want to hear this, and I don't want to say it either, BUT, if Saban was here, we would have won atleast a minimum of 4 games by now.

It's written all over his face that Cam is way out of his league coaching a NFL team. Just look at his face on the sidelines, in the press conferences, etc. He looks like a little kid who's lost his mom at the grocery story. His inept play calling has stalled more of our drives than anything else. He was brought in to be the offensive mastermind yet makes decisions that leave high school coaches scratching their heads. Hell, the stadium stood up and cheered as Beck through a 55yd. INCOMPLETION! If that doesn't tell you something about your playcalling, I have no idea what would. And that's not even his biggest problem, see "clock management". How do we expect our rookie QB to learn these fundamental things when our HC is still trying to figure them out himself? I understand Cam is a rookie HC, but do we really want a rookie HC coming in to rebuild our team? How can he teach if he's still learning himself?

One win saves Cam's job. Just one. It's all he needs and he'll be here next year, no doubt about it. Now in no way am I rooting for a 0-16 season, but it's getting to the point where if that's what it takes to get Cam out of Miami, then so be it. I'm only slightly a fan of Wayne H. but even I know he's a business man. He'd have no problem writing out a blank check, handing it to Cowher or Marty and saying "Here. Fill it out. See you at Spring Training."

So Cam, you've lost the respect of your veterans. Your draft picks (your hand picked players) are even questioning your play calling. You haven't won a single game. What makes you qualified to be our HC? :confused2:

Have you been paying attention this season? The Lions and Saints are bad. Still. The Lions won six games in the first half of the year by playing bad teams and having the highest turnover differential in the NFL. The Saints were right down there with us in terms of not having any wins until, what, week six? As it stands, they're 5-6, two games back from the division lead, and only have a shot at the wild card if Detroit continues to falter and if another team doesn't sneak up from behind. (I'm picking Arizona to snatch the 6th seed.)

It's more accurate to say that the teams found ways to win a few games, but not enough games to matter.

While I agree with most of what you are saying, when you're 0-12, 5 wins looks mighty good and does a world of good for team morale. May not be big in the grand scheme of things but for the season, the team and the fan base... 5 wins is a major thing.

I agree, there's a difference between 0 wins and 5 wins. I wasn't contesting that. I'm contesting the idea that the Saints and Lions are more than just a flash in the pan. What are they doing this year? Not much. The NFC South is the second-worst division in the NFL and the Saints are two games back. So much for that NFC Championship Game appearance.

They are having success nonetheless. I rather have a flash on the pan than a team filled with players just collecting pay checks. They atleast have something to build on, and are much closer to being successful than we are.

If they're bad then what the hell are we? Do we even belong in this league?

A flash in the pan by definition is nothing to build on. It's questionable whether either team is truly building towards anything.

5-7 is STILL worthless. I'm tired of people who want to win a couple of games just for the sake of winning a couple of games. 2005 and 2006 was the story of this team screwing up its draft position for the sake of a handful of wins and no playoffs. We could have taken Haloti Ngata in the 2006 draft if we had gone 8-8 instead of 9-7 in 2005.

cam needs an oc next season, period. it was an act of pure hubris on his part to believe that he could call all the plays while being a rookie hc at this level.

but if he realizes this and hires an oc, the team will be fine.

Nobody wanted the OC job because it was an empty title. He was going to call the plays regardless; he stated such at his introductory press conference.

Everyone who wants Cams head needs to stop and think. At some point we need to stop the roller coaster ride of changing coaches and le the same schemes be in play for successive years; not just one or two.

This team needed rebuilt when Saban took over, he didn't have the guts to accept the losses to go with that, Cam does. Let give Cam the chance to turn it around.

Right now on offense we don't have the power back this offense calls for, good tight ends, and backs that can block in the back field. And as the last two games have shown until we get the complete package to pass block (TEs, RBs, and receivers that catch the ball) our offense is not going anywhere. Keep in mind we don't have the running game now to take pressure off the passing game.

Before Jim Bates left he stated the need was not offensive players, it was YOUNG defensive players. Most people laughed at him. It looks like he was right.

Or he could of promoted someone within and hired another coach to take over for the promoted coach. Cam made a big mistake and now its biting us in the *** due to it.

maybe we should contact Bates and ask him to be our DC again or Muschamp(sp).

    Who? Mike Mularkey?

You people are seriously reaching for reasons to bash Cameron. You're ignorant of the situation now and at the time of his hiring, and simply presume that someone is always available to be slotted into a position.

Apparently people have forgotten the reason Cam Cameron was hired, if he's now being criticized for retaining playcalling duties. Okay, folks, let me remind you. I'll even use shiny red text to make sure you all read it:

Cam Cameron was hired after the 2006 Miami Dolphins offense averaged 16 points per game. He was hired for the express purpose of improving the offense and managing this team into the playoffs after a multi-year drought. Him handing off playcalling duties to someone not as good as him is ignoring the entire reason he was hired in the first place.

Good Lord, people. How can you call yourselves Dolphins fans when you don't even know what's going on with this team and why?

Then why are we still running the same damn game plan? I get that Cam wants to install his offense, I get that. But running the same plays over and over again without success is just plain dumb. Coaches need to gameplan for each game. Watching his play calling is like banging your head against a friggin' wall....

how am i reaching? its a fact that Cam being both HC/OC hasn't worked out well for him and the team. why would a rookie HC want to take on both roles his first year? does it really matter who the OC is since Cam would still be calling the plays? no I am not questioning him doing all the play calling. I am question him in being both HC/OC at the same time. he is in over his head.

dont give me because no one wanted the position since Cam would be doing all the playcalling. I bet you there are plenty of coaches that would take the promotion and not call plays their 1st yr as an OC. like i said, he made a big mistake by tyring to do both roles and its showing now.

why are you putting ppl down for their opinions? i know this is a frustrating season but dont take it out on others. we are all fans here.

How many first year head coaches were hired specifically for their expertise on one side of the ball, and the expectation that they would turn things around before the good side of the team collapsed? I can only think of one: Brian Billick.

I'm not intentionally putting anyone down, and I apologize if I come off that way. But there are just certain see over and over again, and they seem to be made out of ignorance of the situation. Cameron was hired to turn the offensive side of the ball around. If his job was riding on the performance of the offense, he's going to do everything he can to ensure the offense performs well. If that means he calls the plays, so be it.

Cameron at least has the benefit of running an offense with a similar PPG stat due to a lack of talent. Trent Green got hurt, Ronnie's out, and Chambers was traded. The offense with those three in the lineup was averaging 21 PPG, which, in the first year of a new system and a bunch of rookies on offense, is a serious improvement.

In your honest opinion do you think Cameron is doing a good job? I`m not talking about with the players he has to coach or the unfortunate injuries or anything like that. What grade would you give Cameron so far as head coach of the Dolphins? Personally I would give him a generous D-

Yes, I think that given the circumstances he walked in to, and the rash of injuries that have hit this team, Cameron's done a good job. I don't buy the criticism of his play calling, because he has to compensate for an untalented offense somehow. Not every play can be a deep throw to Ginn.

When the offense was putting up points, the defense was giving them up. And then the defense stopped giving up points, but the offense lost its key players.

Cameron gets a pass this year from me, with a notation that he and Mueller have hit pretty well on first-day players.

I wonder how points the team would've averaged last year without the rash of injuries on the offensive line. Culpepper was reinjured and Ronnie was out for a while.

It all starts with the offensive line anyway. The lack or production this year can hardly be blamed on them.

np. i can understand your frustration, we are all frustrated. i know its not intentional but someone could take it that way. This is the internet, you are going to read things you don't like. its a given. while some post are based on ignorance & instant gratification, but there are some truth to it.

I agree, Cam was brought here to do one thing and that was to fix the offense. TBH, I can understand why he wants to call the plays and HC's are entitled to do that.

the obvious is that he made a mistake not hiring an OC to help run the offense. I understand that he couldn't find one because they wanted to be the one to call all the plays. its just that he should of known that he would be overwhelmed by doing both. how can a rookie HC not see this?

i am still not impressed with his play calling & decision making so far. i believe someone on this forum said that Cam is still thinking as an OC instead of a HC. part of me still feels that the players he had in SD made him look better than he really is, but that is just an opinion of mine.

i understand we have hardly any playmakers on offense except for Brown and maybe that is the reason why Cam is calling the plays he is now. maybe it will improve once we get the players. of course, players not executing the play does hamper things tremendously as we all have seen so far. we shall see.

Last year Culpepper got hurt, Ronnie was out for about three games, and the offensive line had a rash of injuries. We still managed to beat New England without them. And it all starts up front - with an offensive line playing much better this year with very few injuries, you would think that the offense would see an improvement anyway.

And wasn't Cleo Lemon was neck and neck with Trent Green in preseason, as was Chapman with Brown? Sure seems Cameron said as much - so he shouldn't have lost that much when those other guys came in, right?
