Tony Pauline: Risers & Sliders: Chase Daniel's draft stock slips - NFL - SI.com I'm not sure how high Daniels stock was in the first place. I read in the past that he would be a fifth rounder and this isn't going to help. Moving on, I'm disappointed to see Terrance Taylor on that list. I like him. I like Everette Brown. I wonder how he would transition to an OLB. I believe he's in the 6'4", 250 range and in the 4.6 forties. I think many here are pretty high on B.J. Raji.
Brown intrigues me. Ive watched a couple of games of his when I go up to tallahassee and the guy is athletic. Ive seen him drop back a few times and make some athletic plays on the ball. I dont remember how he handled the run, so ill defer that to the gurus. He does fit that athletic mold we would like at OLB and he might be better than Kam Wimbley coming out.
That's interesting if Raji really is having a good year, he's very much your traditional mold of nose tackle. I could totally see Miami taking Clint Sintim in R1, and BJ Raji in R2. That would be the experience angle all the way. They'd want Sintim to play SOLB in their 3-4, and he's been a SOLB in Virginia's 3-4 for a long time, and is a senior, the leader of that resurgent defense. They'd want Raji to play NT in their 3-4, Raji has played NT in BC's 3-4 for a long time, and is a senior. Remember, one reason Kendall Langford came alive so early in his rookie career is because he was a 3-4 DE in college at Hampton. He was familiar with it already. That was one reason many people said Miami really liked Jake Long at the #1 pick...he was among the only players to consider at the top of the draft that would be walking into a position that he ALREADY has been playing, and it sort of makes me wonder if they weren't looking at Chris Long as a 3-4 DE after all. There's something to be said for all of that. If you come out of the first day with guys like Clint Sintim, B.J. Raji and Juaquin Iglesias, you're coming out with three guys that have played in a lot of football games at the position you'd ask them to play, have physical size and skills, and should be able to make an impact right in 2009.
