The team agreed today on a two-year contract extension that will keep Cobbs in Miami through the 2010 season, an NFL source confirmed. Cobbs, who would have been a restricted free agent this off-season, has made quite an impression on coach Tony Sparano. “We look and we talk about consistent players, guys that have effort and guys that are highly efficient at their job,” Sparano said last week. “And when we look and we talk about those people, Cobbs is in that mix in all three categories. He’s consistent, he’s efficient and he’s effective Palm Beach Post: Palm Beach & Treasure Coast news, sports, entertainment, jobs, cars, homes
Nice find. He's been a surprise this year. If Ricky continues to look sluggish out there, it wouldn't surprise me to see Cobbs take over the number two spot. Cobbs has displayed good hands for us.
I am pleased to hear this news He hasnt been a surprise to me.He has shown flashes of what he can do since he was picked up from the Patriots. While he will never be a feature back he has found his niche as a change of pace back and a special teams star. Good signing IMO.
It's nice to hear they got him locked up. He's not going to be a core guy, but he's too versatile to let go. He's essentially become what Lorenzo Booker was expected to, and then some. I think the weirdest thing about him is that they are occasionally using him as a lead blocker for Brown and Williams out of passing-down formations.
Yeah! I like him a lot. He's consistent and when called upon he makes plays. I like him in the way I like Camarillo, just solid all around guys whom rarely make mistakes and produce when called upon. I like the move.
Lets not get too carried away with Cobbs here. He's been a surprise he's had one great game, and another good game. He's had 4 rushes for 8 yards lets not start talking about him doing any replacing of Ricky just yet. Was he active this past game?
Looks like we will be doing more of those 3 running backs out of the wildcat formation sets. Cobbs blocks really well and catches well out of the wildcat. There's going to be more of it because supposedly we have only seen a small portion of the wildcat.
To me a player like him is a core guy. ST core player, lead blocker on Kick Off Returns, 3rd down back that can catch and block, Slot WR in Wildcat that can block and catch, great all around depth player. The thing is, a player like cobbs often can play more snaps than someone like Ronnie Brown. When you reward guys like that, the rest of the Locker Room notices.
I really have not notice him making great plays but then again i have not been looking for him.Im going to keep an eye on him during these last games now though.
He was great in that game (well two big plays) and then pretty good in the Baltimore game for sure. But then he did the great Miami Disappearing Act last week. Different week, different players. That's our team!
well cobbs deserves this extension. So good for him, hopefully he can continue to contribute when called upon. wonder what this means for jalen parmele though?
Those two big plays are easy to spot. From what I've read he's on ST as well. I understand the concern with the disappearing act. Consistency is a huge deal in any sport lest you should miss the post season. I have faith in the FO that they're not just going to hand out a 2 year extention. He def. deserves it if he got it from Sparano/Ireland/Parcells. (can I just call them "SIP" from now on?).
I loved seeing him in the slot a couple of plays on Sunday... He's got great hands. I wouldnt mind seeing him line up there a little more often and create match up problems
