DOLPHINS TIDBITS: Miami snapped a four-game losing streak against the Bills dating back to its 24-23 win in Dec. 4, 2005. ... The Dolphins are 3-0 when they hold the ball for more than 30 minutes (they owned it for 31:12 today). ... By rolling up 358 total net yards, Miami surpassed the 350-yard mark for the fifth time this season, their longest such streak since 1986 when they did it seven times in a row. ... Pennington's touchdown pass to Fasano marked the first time since Dec. 3, 2006 that the Dolphins scored a touchdown on their first possession. ... Brandon London's six-yard reception in the first quarter was the first of his career. ... Ricky Williams moved into a tie for second all-time in career rushing touchdowns by a Dolphins running back with his 3-yard scoring run, giving him 33 as a Dolphin and 49 overall. He is tied with Karim Abdul-Jabbar.

    (all this per MiamiDolphins.com)

I'm definitely impressed with the streak of 350+ yards per game, FIVE TIMES IN A ROW!

Pennington continues to impress me and he simply gets the job done.

I know, I'm not too big on stats, but when we have a streak like this-only good things are ahead for this organization.

    Definitely impressed.

    POSTGAME NOTES

    • The win by the Dolphins snapped the Bills’ four-game winning streak in this series and was the first by Miami since December 4, 2005 when they recorded a 24-23 victory in South Florida.

    • LB Akin Ayodele today played in the 103rd straight regular season game to open his career.

    • T Vernon Carey played in his 67th consecutive contest and opened his 50th in a row.

    • C Samson Satele started the 23rd straight game to open his career.

    • CB Will Allen now has started each of the last 109 league games in which he has played, dating back to the second week of his rookie season of 2001 with the New York Giants.

    • The Dolphins held the ball for 31:12 today and are now 3-0 on the season when they have held the advantage in time of possession.

    • The Dolphins rushed for 52 yards on 27 carries today, a 1.9-yard average per rush attempt. It is their lowest average per rush attempt in a win since November 19, 2006 when they averaged 0.5 yards per carry (13-7) in a 24-20 win over Minnesota in South Florida.

    • With 358 total net yards today, the Dolphins now have amassed 350 or more yards of total offense in five straight games, their longest such streak since 1986 when they accumulated 350 or more yards in seven consecutive contests (10-16). Over the last five games, the Dolphins now have totaled 1,938 yards, an average of 387.6 yards per contest.

    • The Dolphins forced four turnovers today, including three fumbles and an interception. It ties a season-high that they first achieved on October 12 at Houston. The Dolphins now have forced nine turnovers over the last three weeks and 12 on the year. On the season, they have turned the ball over just five times for a takeaway/giveaway ratio of plus-7. Their five turnovers are their fewest over the first seven games of a season since 1997 when they also turned the ball over five times in that span.

    • The 2-yard TD pass from Chad Pennington to Anthony Fasano marked the first time the Dolphins scored a touchdown on their initial possession of a game since December 3, 2006 against Jacksonville when Marty Booker took in a 17-yard TD from Joey Harrington in a game the Dolphins would go on to lose, 24-10.

    • WR Ted Ginn finished with seven receptions for 175 yards, the first 100-yard receiving game of his career and the second by a Dolphin this year, joining RB Patrick Cobbs, who had three receptions for 138 yards at Houston on October 12. It was the first 100-yard receiving game by a Dolphins wide receiver since December 16 of last year when Greg Camarillo caught three passes for 109 yards and a TD against Baltimore. It was the most receiving yards by a Dolphin since December 24, 2005 when Chris Chambers collected 15 catches for a club-record 238 yards and a TD against Buffalo. Ginn’s yardage total today ranks as the ninth-highest in club history. Prior to today, Ginn’s career-high was 67 yards, attained on December 9 of last year at Buffalo when he had four receptions for 67 yards.

    • WR Ted Ginn’s 64-yard reception was the second-longest pass play by the Dolphins this year and the longest by a wide receiver. It was the longest catch by a Dolphins wide receiver since December 16 of last year when Greg Camarillo hauled in a 64-yard TD pass from Cleo Lemon in overtime against Baltimore. It is a career-long catch for Ginn, surpassing his previous best of 54 yards on December 9 of last year at Buffalo.

    • CB Will Allen’s 30-yard interception return was the longest of his career, surpassing his 22-yard return of a Patrick Ramsey pass at Washington on September 21, 2003 as a member of the Giants.

    • When LB Charlie Anderson tackled Duke Preston in the end zone, it marked the Dolphins’ first safety since November 27, 2005 at Oakland when Jason Taylor sacked Raiders QB Kerry Collins in the end zone. For Anderson it was the second score of his career. In his rookie season of 2004 with Houston, he recovered a Chad Hutchinson fumble at Chicago on December 19 and raced 60 yards for a TD.

    • LB Joey Porter’s fumble recovery was his first since September 18, 2005 at Houston when he recovered a David Carr fumble as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

    • With two sacks today, LB Joey Porter now has had at least a half-sack in each of his last five games. Over this time, he has compiled 9.5 sacks. On the year, he has registered 10.5 sacks, tying a career-high that he first set in 2000 and 2005, both as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition, with today’s performance, he now has had two or more sacks in a game for two weeks in a row, three times this year and 16 times in his 10-year career. With one game still to play, Porter’s sack total of 10.5 is the second-most ever by a Dolphin in the first eight games of a season since sacks became official in 1982, trailing only Trace Armstrong’s total of 11 in 2000.

    • WR Brandon London’s 6-yard reception in the first quarter was the initial catch of his NFL career.

    • QB Chad Pennington started his seventh straight game to open the season today. He is one of only two Dolphins quarterbacks to start each of the first seven games of a season since 2002, joining Gus Frerotte, who started the first nine in 2005.

    • QB Chad Pennington threw for 314 yards today, the sixth 300-yard passing game of his career and his first since December 17, 2006 when he tossed for a career-high 339 yards in the Jets’ 26-13 win at Minnesota. Today’s total was the fourth-highest of his career. His teams are now 5-1 when he has thrown for 300 or more yards in a game.

    • With a 117.9 passer rating, QB Chad Pennington now has put together a rating of 100.0 or better in four of his last five games. In addition, his 2-yard TD pass to Anthony Fasano marked the fourth game in a row in which he has had a touchdown pass, the first Dolphin to do that since Trent Green in the first four games of last year.

    • The 3-yard TD run by RB Ricky Williams was his second of the season, the 49th of his NFL career and his 33rd as a Dolphin, tying him with Karim Abdul-Jabbar for second on the Dolphins all-time list.

    • The 47-yard reception by Ricky Williams was the third-longest of his career and his longest since December 28, 2003 when he had a 59-yard catch from Jay Fiedler against the Jets.

    • The fumble recovery by LB Channing Crowder was the third of his career and the first since his rookie season of 2005 when he recovered a JP Losman fumble on December 4 against Buffalo in South Florida.

    • CB Jason Allen tallied a team-high six tackles on defense. In addition, he registered a tackle and a fumble recovery on special teams.

    • K Dan Carpenter accounted for three field goals today (43,45,35), the first Dolphins rookie to have three or more field goals in a game since October 22, 1989 when Pete Sytoyanovich had field goals of 36, 21 and 33 yards in the Dolphins’ 23-20 win over Green Bay.

    • P Brandon Fields punted four times for a gross average of 39.5, a figure which also represented his net. Over the last two games, he now has hit seven punts for a net average of 41.3.

    • The Dolphins held the Bills potent return game to a 20.2-yard average on six kickoff returns while they did not allow a punt return. Entering the game the Bills were averaging 23.2 on 24 kickoff returns and 14.9 on 19 punt returns. For the Dolphins, Brannon Condren was credited with a team-high two special teams tackles.

    • When Langston Walker blocked a Dan Carpenter 46-yard field goal in the second quarter, it marked the first blocked field goal by the Bills since December 2, 2001 against San Francisco. It was the sixth blocked field goal of Walker’s career.

Why? It was a good play but RW didn't threaten the edge on that play. He just made good use of his blockers. The scout just said that RW couldn't threaten the edge anymore.
