I agree. Point #4 is the key to baltimore's win today, and its the key for teams to beat us the rest of the year. If we cant run, teams force pennington to win it for us. With his "Weak" arm, and our lack of talent at WR, it becomes an easy task for opposing defenses. Which is why, if things get worse (with our record) we may even see Mr. Henne before the end of the season.

The real gatorade bath should have gone to rex ryan for his defensive game plan, not that DB Cam Cameron.

I think you're being a little too tough on Pennington. He's not Dan Marino but you're trying to make him out to be a Jay Fiedler. He's much better than that.

We never used the tight end until the tight end until the end of the game. Ricky is getting used less and less. I am not comfortable with Ronnie always running the ball up the gut with the wildcat.

even though the defense sucked all day long, I still thought we had a decent shot to get this thing tied up until that horrendous reverse call on 3rd and 10. I'm still shocked that they called that play there.

One of the things that has made the Wildcat so effective is it's unpredictability, both in usage and execution. Today we didn't see that. Baltimore read and reacted to it. We didn't get out of our comfort zone much, particularly in the first half with Pennington struggling.

I dont think I was that tough on him. I like what he has done thus far. My point is the game plan to beating us is clear. Is he good enough to still win games? Yes. He proved that by shredding New England. Difference is we were running the ball effectively. Im convinced we've seen his apex.

I'm still shocked they couldn't stop Joe Flacco. The defense bothered me to no end today playing soft coverage against Flacco and blitzing much too little

Agreed bro, we had no flexability, and didn't show any new effective add ons to the wildcat today at all.

At one point you have to decide when the rookie starts getting reps. I'd rather later then sooner, but if the trend of losing continues later maybe sooner.

The "wrinkle" this week was Pennington taking snaps out of it. Problem is, it looked an awful lot like any other shotgun formation. We will need to either add to it, or shelve it for a few games before breaking it out again.

That said, we may have better success going against Buffalo with it next week.

That's the game plan for most offenses in the league. That doesn't mean pennington can't win a game for you. Most QBs lose when they have no running game. Most also lose when their defense can't stop 3rd and 10s and 3rd and 17s [that was disgusting, lucky they got that strip].

He can get reps in practice like the other 2nd string players. He'll get his chance. Pennington gives them the best chance to win. He can learn a lot just by watching Pennington play.

Totally agree...Penny didnt lose this game today. Yes, he had the pick-6 but that was one play. The Ravens D was able to throw our whole offense off base today and so Penny looked a bit bad....worse then he was.

We lost because of our defense folks...period. Our D is very, very weak. Our rooks (and Joey) have made us look good periodically but against solid Olines...we are not that good. IMHO we need a rook Nose (monster young dude to replace Ferg) and serious investments in the secondary. A great corner and perhaps a safety...would do wonders for us.

Now...add to this a decent Wideout say..in FA and then a wake up from our coaches that Ginn is the dude for returns....now we are cooking w/ gas.....

    Yeah...

my revised prediction is a flip flop...from 10-6 to 6-10...

I think they REALLY need to gut check about 50% of these guys that play for paychecks....or maybe its just that they suck period...but it seems that the only game we had any REAL emotion and drive to kick *** was against the Patriots...before then and after that every week I see us so ....flat...just not all there mentally...maybe we are thinking too much and thats why teams are noticing that we are having too many mental mistakes?

I really think this team could win if the coaches would just try and not outsmart themselves...

for example...on 3rd and goal on the first series...I saw that a run to the right with Brown would scored a TD but instead we pass and it goes incomplete not to mention CP didnt throw it to the back where Martin was open and instead opted for a well covered Fasano....

before anyone says, why dont you go coach then...hey man were do I apply!!??! SERIOUSLY, you think that I wouldnt apply to coach for this team if I didnt think I'd show up to Davie and just get thrown out of the building? i am not scared to coach this team and be in the limelight man lets do this...so yeah

I agree. However he can lose a game just as Pennington. As I said in my first reply I'd much rather see him later then sooner.

harsh statement though...pennington didn't lose the game for us. that was, by far, a team effort if i ever saw one. sad part is, there was no effort, hence the loss.

you could almost guarantee a loss by putting henne in now with our team playing the way it is all around.

NO SHOT im ready to call it a loss already!

Now hear me out, Buffallo is a COMPLETE team and while peopel will say "Any given Sunday" I believe we can start talking like that again in November!

Buffalo and Us do not match up well on paper for sure..

Meh, alot of Qb's in this league merit enough respect that their passing attack opens up the run. Teams cant stack the box as much against Manning or Brady because of the deep threat.

This is why we went to The Wildcat. It was just something else for the D to key on. And a chance to take some pressure off #10 IMO.

I didn't mean Pennington lost the game. Ofcourse I know it's a team game  My point was if we're not going to get a win, why not let the kid get his snaps. Again, I'm in no way saying start Henne right now or the near future. If we're 5-8, 4-9 then I'd be in favor.

Maybe they should call Jeff George. You don't have to be able to throw the ball 50 or 60 yards down the field to take advantage of box stacking. Give me accuracy and smarts any day of the week.

I am sort of in the middle with this...

If he didnt lose it, he certainly had more than 50% to do with this particluar loss.

He was just all over the place today.

This was not the CP of the previous few weeks.

He was over throwing, under throwing, bad checks/reads and was miscommunicating at the worst possible times.

I dont know what it is but the guy needs to rest his arm, do some needle therapy or whatever its called, yoga, pilates...whatever... during this week because his arm looks tired and getting weaker with each passing game.

He's totally lost his zip from game 1 to now...slowly but its happening. I hope the coaches are seeing it and can address whatever the problem is...maybe if its like he said that he was mechanically throwing it wrong in the past, he's unconsciously reversing back to his old habits and he can fix it...soon.

Because you always try to win. The preseason ended a month and a half ago. Odds are Pennington will get knicked up anyway, so we'll probably see Henne sooner rather than later.

A tough loss, but we'll be back like Buffalo in the Super Bowl. Baltimore adjusted to our Wildcat offense pretty good. Things will get better, have some faith Fin fans, we're still the best team to watch as far as I'm concerned. Go Dolphins! :woot:

His rating was still in the 80s. That was his off game. I think some of you have already forgotten what we had previously been dealing with at the QB position.

I don't necessarily think his passes looked any weaker, just less accurate than usual.

The worrisome part for me is that when we run the wildcat..I feel it takes away from the pyshical part of what we are trying to do. Are we a physical team or a finesse team?

Our tackling especially in the secondary has been atrocious not to mention thier coverage.

Goodman and R.Hill have had 2 horrendous weeks in a row.

The tackling part can be improved...the play calling can be improved..but I am afraid our secondary is what it is:cry::cry:

I'm sure you probably said the same thing in 2005. I don't think they'll be bad every week. Inconsistency is common in young teams with new coaches. This is a knee jerk reaction. They lost to Baltimore so obviously they'll stink every week against everybody.

though i see your points i disagree. on nearly every single play there was someone who COULD'VE intercepted....someone who COULD'VE got the sack....someone who COULD'VE set up a block....penny can't play as a one man band. he certainly didn't play up to standards but he didn't lose it for us by any means.

i wouldn't be so quick to judge there. it seems our secondary were the ONLY people on the defense that were actually tackling their RBs.
that said, their coverage was indeed poor, but that happens when you're worried about stopping every running play too.
