I did this last year on the other site. The scary movie season is in and I figured I would make a thread to help those who are looking to update their Netflix queue or are heading into blockbuster for a creepy movie. What are some lesser known creeptastic films that you really enjoyed? or Just list your top 10 favs. I will start Candyman Blair Witch Project Hills Have Eyes The Ring Cabin Fever Wrong Turn Pet Sematary 1 Pet Sematary 2 The Lost Boys Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake and old) there is my list of 10 in no order....im sure there are others but these are the ones that came to mind first.
Off the top of my head here are some underrated and or unknown horror flicks I really enjoy: -The Midnight Meat Train -Subspecies -Event Horizon -Frailty -Ginger Snaps -Catacombs -30 Days of Night -Phantasm -Dead and Buried -Ravenous -The Sentinel -The Brood -Session 9 -The Entity -Dead Alive -Susperia -Murder Party -Motel Hell -Dark Waters (not Dark Water) -Dead Silence -The Mist -The Changeling (not Changeling) -The Orphanage -Hatchet -Hellraiser series (especially the first 2 flicks) -Evil Dead Trilogy will continue to add as/if I think of more...
Im going to check out the Midnight Meat Train. I remembered seeing the trailer a while back on the reels channel but forgot all about it.
Probably leaving some out but that's all I can think of for now, should give you enough to look into hopefully.
love those ones. hellraiser is overrated I think, way more gory then scary. One I think all should see is in the mouth of madness.
i don't know if this fits but it's a movie thread. i want to see that lakeview terrace movie. anyone seen it?
do any of you guys watch those ghost house underground videos? I was thinking about checking some out. If you do watch them any you recommend?
I think they are a mix. They are supposed to be picked by masters of horror and made by up and comers I guess? They come out a couple times a year in a series......
The Shining. everything about that movie is creepy as hell. as a small child, bordering on being a baby...2 of my first movies were Jaws and the Shining. wtf were my parents thinking...there may be a lawsuit here.
Yea about that Hatchet movie....not my taste because that movie was horrible. Next up Midnight Meat Train
A few other suggestions: Night Breed Vacancy Descent The Deaths of Ian Stone Poltergeist The Exorcist The Exorcism of Emily Rose
so far Ive checked out... Midnight Meat Train- Liked it quite a bit Hatchet- didnt care for it The Orphanage - Enjoyed it Catacombs - Enjoyed it Good calls
It. straight up scariest sh** i have ever seen. i had nightmares for years. in fact, i had the same nightmare, many times more than once in a given night. i'd be running up a staircase away from the clown, would eventually give up and cower in the corner, afraid to look at what was about to eat/kill me. then i would feel a really sharp pain in my side (which i assumed was a knife) and would wake up. one of the only times i ever felt pain in my dreams. anywho, in case anyone wants nightmares tonight, i give you this:
Today is a good day-popped over to Best Buy at lunch and hit up the 4.99-6.99 Halloween DVD sale. The list: Friday the 13th Saw Saw 2 Night of the Living Dead Dawn of the Dead Day of the Dead (all Romero originals, no remakes) From Dusk 'Til Dawn The replacing of the old worn out VHS tapes is in full swing!
That TV mini series didnt do the book any justice at all. If you really want to be spooked you have to read the book. A TV mini series is no way to capture this story.
looking back on this, that movie wasn't horrible. Couple new ones I've seen and liked are: The House of the Devil, The Children, The Collector, and Pandorum.
The 1st one was very good and I was surprised at how good it was...never knew they made a 2nd one though
My favorite halloween horror flick: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
