Thanks Celt. I have talked to HolliFinFan already, I will ask Rev's opinion on this as well. Thanks again.
With a good explanation, which I think alen can make, it might not be as severe as if he was the one doing the copying in that incident, especially if it's a very isolated incident. Colleges will give you some leeway in giving an explanation and if they have local interviews, you can use that as another forum. Just don't do it in college because then it's game over.
I still say bunch him in the eye. then give him a cup check and the give him a swerly. Then when he is feeling better give him an other black eye and give him a really hard cup check and the put him in a trash can in the cafateria
Wait are'nt you the one that got beat up yesterday in preschool and Mom had to go and get you because you were crying a lot
What? I never got off for Yum Kippur and I graduated high school in 2005. When did they start doing this?
No I was the one that chucked a loaded diaper at the cop who pulled me over for an open container. He didn't want to get swirlied two days in a row.
Sorry I'm late to the party, brother. I've been in doctoral comprehensive exams all day. While I have not read all the posts, I will tell you that as a teacher, I would rather you be honest. I would not be happy with what you did, but I would appreciate you that you came to me personally. Now, every behavior has a consequence just like every cause has an effect, action reaction, etc. There will be consequences. If there is an honor code, you should be suspended.Sorry. It probably shouldn't be that way, but you might need to be made an example for any future problems. As far as college is concerned, it depends on the institution. One apst transgression should not affect your future. Good luck. Let me know how it goes Oh and by the way, dump your friend. He just demonstrated why he isn't one.
Thanks Rev. Hope your family is doing ok as well as you on your exams. There is an honor code unfortunately and I am looking at suspension if I tell her which I plan on doing.
Nope, I could get expelled from the university for the same thing. There are no small transgressions anymore, brother. Both at the University of Miami where I did my masters and at Florida International University where I am pursuing a doctorate you are bound by an honor code. If you plagiarize or cheat, you could be expelled and they remind you of it. Might as well get used to the fact that our work needs to be our own. I think there is a website called turnitin.org or .com that makes sure the paper you are turning in is your own. Either way, brother, honesty is the best policy. My dad always says that you should go to sleep with your conscious clear every night knowing that you did no harm to anyone. Do yourself a favor and have a clear conscious. I, along with a lot of other people will be proud of you. ....and so will you. Let me know how it goes. I'll pray for you.
Thanks Rev, appreciate your advice. Loss of exemption for a year and the citizenship standard invoked thing. Rev, do you by any chance know what the citizenship standard invoked is?
so you got suspended? WTF i've been caught cheating on tests and nothing happened..i even got to retake it one time
No, I didn't get suspended. I didn't talk to her yet. Jewish holiday today so no school. Plus, didn't you say the school system is crappy as heck in Oregon or something?
Hi Alen, I don't believe that we have ever talked directly but of course I know of you and your umpteen zillion posts. I'm late to this thread but I did want to add in my two cents. I hope that you do follow through on talking to your teacher. It will not be easy but you need to be strong and follow through with this. Unfortunately doing the right thing doesn't always mean doing the easy thing. But, you will be a better person for it. We all make mistakes and have lapses of judgment but owning up to them will make you a better person. If your teacher knows you and you are straight forward with her then hopefully it will not be as bad as it could be. Usually they have some leeway in how to handle things and a strong character will go a long way in what they think of you and the situation. Plus, they are going to have to talk to the other student and I'm sure that is going to cause some hard feelings. And it is not going to be easy but you will need to be strong and don't let him or any of the other students make you feel that you did something wrong by doing something right. Covering up for someone is almost never a good thing and a real friend would never put you in that situation. But a bad "friend" that is just using you will and perhaps will try to make it seem like you did something wrong when you were just trying to set things right. I'm sorry that I ran a little long here. From what I've seen you seem like a very intelligent, thoughtful and well spoken person. And I'm sure you are tired of hearing this but especially for your age. I just want to see that you keep developing along that path. Do that right thing here and you will never have any regrets about it later in life. Don't do the right thing and it haunt you for years. Bet of luck to you. Charles
nah, but a few years ago they cut like 20 days from the year cuz they didn't have enough money for all the funds....it probably wasn't the worst.. but they cut so many days
Thank you Charles very much for the advice and nice comments. I really appreciate it. From what I've read from other posts (trust me, I've read them all ), you seem like a very nice person and this post proves that is true.
