The field tomorrow is gonna be sloppy.

I went to the Canes game today. It poured down rain for over an hour after the game. We stayed in the club level waiting for the rain to let up. It never did. The entire field was one big puddle.

Look for a big day for Ronnie and Ricky!

Dolphin Stadium is the best draining field in the NFL. It actually requires water, i remember the last time the Superbowl was here and it was pouring, they actually needed to put more water on the field over night.

I saw some highlights from the game, i didnt think it looked that bad. Maybe those clips were from early in the game though.

I have heard several times though during game broadcasts and such about the high quality of our field and its drainage. However, i guess the big worry here is the fact that its all brand new sod just put down this week...

    Only time will tell...

I know some one would have to be released for this to happen, but knowing the field conditions are going to be bad, do we release someone like Wilford, and activate Parmele from the practice squad? This would give us four good running backs with Brown, Williams and Cobbs for the bad field.:wink2:

Great idea. I guess we won't see our logo now cause it won't dry in time, I hate that.

I think what it means is that there will be some guys missing tackles...both teams, unfortunately... It might be one of those games that is decided on a missed tackle somewhere that wouldn't have been missed under drier circumstances...

Yep - I have to agree. This game worries me. I don't know the forecast down there for today, but I hope it's not like the Steelers game from last year.

Aw, c'mon. It wasn't that bad. It was just your basic South Florida Downpour. A mere mist on the grass, it was. I lived there, and that wasn't a real frog strangler, and could only be dimly consider even a gullywasher. Now, if you want to see rain, you've got to go to Belle Glade. There they have frog-stranglin', lighter knot floatin', gator drownin' gullywashers almost ever afternoon. That field will probably be just fine, for South Fla. Folks, that is.

welllll, I watched the game last night and was VERY pleased that I did not see any sod lift or come lose. I never saw a slip due to turf issues. I was pretty surprised and outright happy that the field won't be hurting any players. The sod was set in a sand base, so it is unlikely it will be a "mud" bowl.. it might get wet and even have standing water briefly but the field should not be a big factor. The last 24 hours the stadium has received prolly 2.5 inches.. not enough to defeat the drainage. At the present time, most of the energy from the frontal boundary causing the rain is well north into Palm Beach, St.Lucie and Indian River counties. Radar looking back the direction the precip will come from shows little activity at present. It could, and prolly will build, but I doubt north Dade will get inundated like yesterday.

new sod, non-stop rain overnight, and a game played on the same field the day before... field conditions are probably not going to be ideal, especially if the rain doesn't stop this morning, and so far, it hasn't. this favors Miami if the weather can ground the SD passing game a bit.

There was no problem regarding the new sod.

I'm just saying, for the hour I spent in the Stadium AFTER the game, it rained like a mofo.

The field looked good throughout. As mentioned, drainage won't be a problem.

IMO we'll only have a problem if it starts pouring. And that's simply the problems that occur when it rains. The field is and will be fine.
