Ro'Z as he goes by now wrestles for NJPW now. He's apart of some really popular faction. He use to be with D'Lo. I knew Jamal was Umaga. I like the character, but I liked him as Jamal better. I'm more into real characters I guess. I am probably in the minority of being a bigger fan of Taker as the biker than as the deadman.

BTW, not sure if anyone watched ECW, but it appears that my prognostication of wanting to see Jack Swagger and Mike Knox teamed up may come true...

No I missed that. Did they acknowledge the fact that Swagger lost at a house show, or did they try to say he was still undefeated?

Knox beat up that dude from TNA that Swagger beat up last week. Then Swagger came out, gave him a Dr. Bomb and powedered out when Tommy Dreamer came out to help him. Mike Knox came back out, distracted Dreamer long enough for Swagger to come back in, Dr. Bomb Dreamer and leave...smiling.

i haven't been keeping up with anything but RAW lately; had not even seen the Russian (Kozlov i think?) til they showed the recap on RAW of him laying out Many H's the Headbutt from... the Ukraine? Siberia? Minsk?

they can't use "headbutt from hell," there is already a clothesline from there and it would be gimmick infringement. :)

i used to love the S.S.T. back in their WCW days, versus the LOD and Steiners. they put on some good shows.

Koslov is on Smackdown. He is getting a pretty big heel push. Hardy got into trouble again, so he may not get the push for the limelight once thought he would. He was drunk at the airport and missed his flight. Not that big of a deal(just ask Samphin) but this was strike three. But they know letting him go now would be a bad move because he would go to another company hot.

Todd Bridges and Dustin Diamond probably do the best on the show. Apparently they took to he entertainment side of it and played to the crowd an awful lot.

HBO is also developing a show based around pro wrestling in the 70's. I am trying to find a way to get on that set, be it as a consultant/actor/extra. I just want to be on HBO. :D

I finally got my hands on Bret Hart's book. I read it (all 550 pages of it) in under 4 days. Just as good as Mick Foley's first. The only thing I didn't really like was the stuff with Shawn Michaels. Bret obviously hates Shawn and while the rest of his book comes off as very honest and true he seems to go overboard knocking Shawn and not trying to defend either him or Shawn but it seems like Bret is BSing a lot.

Anyway I highly recommend it. I believe it comes out in the US on October 6th.

You have to keep in mind that the HBK Brett knew was completely different then the bible thumping man before us now. HBK will be the first to admit he was a grade A arse back in the day. Just as good as Foley's eh? I might have to look into that then.

I absolutely realize that and again I wasn't trying to defend HBK, but (and if you read the book maybe you'll understand better) it just seems like Bret went overboard with it and while the rest of the book sounds very honest and true the parts about HBK just seem different to me, almost like a different person wrote it, it almost seems like the only reason why he wrote the book was to knock HBK and Triple H.

  14. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

Bret hates HBK more than HBK hates Bret. I think that is fair to say. I think Bret's background is one where he takes the business as a whole, too seriously and where his legacy stands.

IIn his eyes, HBK/HHH and others helped destroy that legacy beyond repair. Tons of shenanigans went on between those two factions and ultimately, Bret's side lost.

Bret's book is very open and disturbing at times. He certainly isn't the choir boy he played on TV (not that it should shock anyone that a pro wrestler is a degenerate). At this point though, Bret's constant bellyaching and complaining about HBK falls on deaf ears by most fans who are either too young to know who he is, or old enough to have grown sick of his whining.

At some point, Bret has to get over the professional issues he has, accept who he was and is and move on.

I'm assuming you read the book then. Don't you think he went overboard with the HBK stuff. He says he was a bad drawing champion but doesn't mention that during HBK's title run he had to deal with a low talent undercard and the nWo starting in WCW. He also knocks DX a lot because of their attitude on the air yet fails to mention that it helped bring the WWF back on top.

I also thought it was a bit much that he thought someone might have murdered Owen, when he unfortunately fell and died.

I just think Bret is simply a bitter guy and it's funny he knocks other wrestlers because of jealously but he turned into one himself. His story is sad, especially with the crap he put up with his family (although I think he shouldn't have opened up as much as he did, I mean he had a paragraph about how his brother Smith went through his drawers at his house and it really had nothing to do with anything of the story).

Ah I don't think so, I think it just shows that Bret Hart is paranoid. Owen Hart was very well liked between the wrestlers back stage and never got into any incidents with people. I'm sure if a wrestler had a problem with him people would know about it and it would have been addressed in the back or even in the ring. I think it would be extremely hard (and really wouldn't make much sense) why someone would want to murder Owen and have it kept a secret because there would be have to be tons of people involved.

Unfortunately I just think it was a terrible accident.

  18. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

The thought has never crossed my mind that it was an accident. You can make a damned good case for criminal negligence, but murder? That is a pretty far leap.

Bret's book isnuts. If HALF the stuff happened to him growing up as he claims, I am surprised he didn't end up killing people...

I don't know why, but the book saddened me, a lot. Perhaps I thought that deep down, Bret WAS different than most wrestlers in that he practiced what his character preached. Chalk it up to me being dumb I suppose.

I still remember as a young boy my jaw dropping after finding out that Hogan did coke on Hard Copy, or that the Texas Tornado killed himself after being arrested for cocaine.

After awhile, I guess you assume that they are all the same (and for the most part, they are). But along comes Bret who ALWAYS talked about doing the right thing and seemed to outside of the ring at every turn, and it turns out he is a womanizing, steroid shooting lunatic just like the rest of them.

As for his comments about HBK not being a high drawing champion, he is right to an extent. But Bret should probably look at his own reigns as well. They were notoriously low in terms of dollars brought in. Kevin Nash as well. Pretty much everyone who bridged the gap from the Hogan era to the Austin Era can be pigeon holed into the same group.

Bret is clearly bitter against Shawn Michaels. I think most of it is from professional jealousy and the fact that McMahon basically made it known that he prefered HBK over Hart. I just wish Bret could put it aside and ocme back and make HUGE money in either a wrestling program (if his body would hold up) or in some type of managing position of younger athletes going after HBK). Then, they could both finally put it behind them.

  19. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

Actually, thinking about his further, how cool would it be if HBK were to win the championship one more time. He comes out on Raw the next night to celebrate and say how once again, he is the best and on top of this industry.

As he is talking, DH Smith and Natalya Neidhart wonder from out back and loom around on the entrance ramp. The camera eventually picks them up. HBk keeps talking, doesn't even see them. Teddy Hary comes out on stage too (this would require him to be resigned) and the three are wearing similar clothing and start walking down to the ring.

HBK, finally seeing them, has his concentratin broken and turns his attention to the three young Hart relatives who are now around the ring. After trying to figure out why they are their and who they are, They enter, Teddy grabs the mic and says,

"You know exactly who we are Shawn Michaels. We're the Hart Foundation! And we have come to collect the debt you owe our family."

They attack, Shawn fights the two guys off and is face to face with Natalya. She gets inhis face and is berating him and finally slaps him. He rears back like he is gonna hit her and...

Bret Hart's music hits. Shawn stops, slowly turns around and waits as Bret Hart makes his way from the back, cocky smile in hand, he nonchalantly make shis way to the ring, staring at Michaels the whole time.

They get face to face with one of those epic faceoffs. Then WHAM! from behind the new Hart Foundation attacks viciously while Bret lambasts HBK on the mic. Hart explains that his nephews and niece have come together to fight the good fight and finish what he and his brothers started, ending Shawn Michael's career, once and for all.

    Music hits, goes to commercial.

    Yeah, I would tune in.

Completely agree about Bret Hart. I was literally shocked to find out he was so into cheating on his wife and the drugs too. Like you I thought he was this good family man etc.

And yes some of the stories about his family were crazy to insane. I do think some of the stories about his family he should have kept private. I felt like he used the book to purposely bury HBK, Bruce Hart, Diana Hart, Smith Hart and to certain extent his ex-wife, Davey Boy, Neidhart, Dynamite Kid, McMahon, Flair and Hogan.

I'd like to think Mick Foley is a good guy and his book doesn't make me think otherwise so maybe he's the only one.

Good angle but I think the average fans would crap all over it after the shock of seeing Bret there. Teddy, Smith and Neidhart aren't established and HBK wouldn't put any of them over. Plus there's no way Bret would come back. Don't get me wrong I like it and I would watch and cheer.

I actually have a dream angle myself that would be to have McMahon talking randomly on a RAW in Canada about whatever and someone wearing a hoodie, hat and sun glasses rushes in the ring and just lays McMahon out with a punch as security knock the guy to the ground and hold him and during the struggle the hat and glasses fall off and the hard camera from far away gets a shot of it being Bret (NO CLOSE UP SHOTS OF HIM TO TRY ADND MAKE IT REAL AS POSSIBLE). Have the cops take him away, don't show any replays of it, don't even mention it again on TV but secretly leak a clip and put it on youtube and then put up a fake news story about how Bret was arrested and the WWE is thinking of charging him. Then let another week go by with no mention on TV, by then people will be bringing signs, word of mouth whether it's real or a shoot etc. Finally after awhile McMahon decides he'll drop the charges if Bret Hart apologizes on air, then you could turn it into an angle (too bad Bret can't wrestle one more match at WM vs. Vince). The key is to make it as real as possible by not showing closes ups (just use the far away camera), don't show any replays of mention it on TV again, just let word of mouth and youtube spread it.

It's never been done before, and actually as I was typing this this would have been the big money draw for Edge and Matt Hardy back in '05 that would have turned both guys into HUGE stars and made the WWE big big money imo, instead of the crap they ended up with.

Bret is by far my favorite wrestler. Don't really know why. I've liked Rock, SC, HBK, etc... But Bret has always stood out to me. I started losing some interest in wrestling after the Montreal screwjob.

However I found Bret a little creepy after seeing a documentary. He became his character, and seemed mentally unhealthy. Remember the "I hate America" shtick? He couldn't believe why the fans turned on him. And he really vecame resentful. Talked about how he was cheered every where else in the world, etc... Simply put, he was very odd.

Can you guys explain some of the family drama stuff? Specifics?

  24. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

I was gonna say that the WWE STARTED to do that with Matt Hardy, but pissed it away.

Thats a good one too. It really is a shame that Bret's career ended the way it did. I think had he not been kicked in the head and not had that stroke, MAYBE he would put his pride aside long enough to do business again. As it stands, he has a built in excuse to never work again.

Basically his wife was unstable. Kept threatening to leave him almost every other month. It came off as her being extremely jealous of him being popular and never home. She also caught him in lies and knew he cheated on her.

His brothers and sisters never got along. Basically everyone was trying to screw each other out of money and everyone was jealous of Bret because he was so famous. Basically always fighting with each other and taking money from his parents (Bret did make it out in his book like his parents liked him more than the others).

You'd really have to read the book to get a true feeling, there were just so many stories and events, this is just the fast cliff note verison.

    i did not even know that Lance Cade had been released by WWE until i read the following from JR's;

please note that this quote i took from the larger write up does not include alot of complimentary words from Good Ole' J.R. about Lance Cade.

    It is clear if you read it all that he likes Cade alot. Here is a link to the rest of what JR had to say;

that is my guess too. and with a recent pin over HBK on his resume!

hope whatever issues he has, he gets them squared away. kind of surprised he didn't get a suspension though in light of other recent drug relapses in WWE (Regal and Hardy).

Watching that Cena "freestyle" is about the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Wrestling to me is like your youth vision of Christmas. Once you learn its fake and it's true meaning it's just not as cool anymore. For me, it's not entertainment at all. But, hey I respect the wrestlers. Just trying to get a paycheck.

Best wrestler ever....Sting. Always my favorite growing up as a KID.

even though it is scripted, to me it has entertainment value since i don't know who is going to win.

i see where you are coming from i guess, but then again, look at it from this angle; almost all TV is fake, so is 24 less exciting because you know that Jack Bauer isn't killing terrorists in real life?

Unreal. The WWE finally has a hot heel in Jericho and they take the title off of him at a crappy PPV and put it back on Batista (yawn). I guess it's setting up a Cena/Batista match at WM. I personally would have went with Jericho/Cena since Jericho could at least carry Cena to a decent match and the promos would be entertaining at least. Once again the WWE shows that they have no clue what they're doing. I mean really when was the last time they had a hot heel? Triple H back in 2004ish? At least Jericho was creating a new character for himself and not doing the same boring act that Triple H, Batista, Orton, Cena and Edge do. Oh well I barely watch the product anymore anyway, and this is part of the reason.
